Brockton VillaThe banana fosters bread puddingThe banana fosters bread pudding had an amazing sauce. The coast toast had the best jam and the pure maple syrup. The view from the patio makes me feel like I'm having a lazy day at a bed-and-breakfast inn.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMseals stink but view is worth it!The coast toast is amazing...the other dishes are just ok. So pretty and easy with kids...kids meals are perfect sized and good.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat experiencerecommend the coast toast (best french toast i've ever had) and the nice burrito (healthy but filling and delicious). great ambiance and view. better than the cottage in my opinion6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA classic La Jolla spotA bit of La Jolla history with a friendly view of the cove. Food and service are enjoyable6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWater Dining! If you want brunch with a view Brockton Villa is a must! I took six ladies visiting to celebrate a bachelorette brunch. They were amazed by the view and all enjoyed their dishes. I ordered the pork and soy-rizo chilaquiles, they were good but nothing amazing the portion was rather large this dish could easily be shared. The coast toast on the other hand, are something truly amazing! They have a custard like center and slightly crispy edge. The clam chowder was different in a good way. Fresh-squeezed mimosas are always the best!. They were able to accomodate our gluten-free friend which is always a plus. All of the ladies enjoyed their dishes and were swept away with the view. I recommend this place for brunch with a view!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant!I had an amazing first experience here. The food was delicious and the server was super friendly and helpful! It's located atop a hill and the view of La Jolla shores is BEAUTIFUL! They have a covered patio and the weather was just perfect! Definitely going back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view, Excellent FoodWe requested a table overlooking the view and it was beautiful. Outstanding service, very responsive to our requests and very knowledgeable about the menu. Probably the freshest scallops I have ever had. This is a neighborhood gem that often gets overlooked and that's a shame, because they really have an outstanding menu with a gorgeous view.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful setting, wonderfulBeautiful setting, wonderful sunset, great service and food was a treat!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a stunning meal...I've been coming here for a few decades now and it continues to be "a must visit" when I'm in town. When I was a local in SD, we often came here for late breakfast. Nothing beats, the beautiful view and ocean breeze. Service is always great and efficient. Most importantly, the food has been consistently wonderful throughout the years. Be sure to try their famous "coast toast" - you won't be disappointed. Do make a reservation if you are able to. Weekends and holidays usually are a long wait.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappoints! We were at BV for an early morning breakfast meeting. To begin, this Historic Landmark that was built in 1846 overlooks the La Jolla Cove and so the view is stunning. We specifically chose this restaurant for the menu and of course the delectable Coast Toast. We were very proud to "show off" one of our little treasures. Our guests from the UK were very impressed with the food and ambiance.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful view of the ocean,Beautiful view of the ocean, great food, great service - all at a reasonable price!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than the smell :)The historical building overlooks La Jolla Cove with its requisite sea lions...fun to watch, but quite stinky. The restaurant's outdoor veranda is a great spot when the temp is right and is, mercifully, in the breeze above the animals. Famous for its "Coast Toast," an eggy, thick version with a hint of orange. The Carne Asada Benedict was EXCELLENT, tho. Staff helped carry deliveries up the steep stairs--nice comaraderie was evident. Only went for breakfast- will definitely go again and use it as a spot for visitors. Also left my Amex car, and the restaurant called me before we got off the premises. So honest, too!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Halibut! SunsetExcellent Halibut! Sunset from the patio was gorgeous. Service was very good.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOcean view gemJust the place by itself is charming due to the wood deck and lovely cozy decoration but also you have the beach view and sea breeze to go with it. And of course a good menu and wonderful french toast! ;) Definitely have to go back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing spot!Amazing spot for a special occasion! We went for our anniversary and sat outside on the patio. Food was exceptional as well as the ambiance. Definitely will return!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOur best dinners in San DiegoWe tried some of the top restaurants in San Diego on our trip. Our best dinner was at Brockton Villa....so we went back the next night for a second wonderful dinner. Very casual atmosphere with knowledgeable and attentive staff. Food was excellent! Try crab cakes for appetizer and the salmon for dinner. I will definitely go back for more!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMViewPerfect place to have great food and enjoy the ocean view.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTastey ocean view diningBrockton Villa offers breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking La Jolla Cove. The food is healthful and interesting. The view can't be beat. Unfortunately, the odor from the birds on the rocks detracts somewhat from the ambience. Service is wonderful!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOn a recent trip to La Jolla,On a recent trip to La Jolla, we ate at George's at the Cove, Cody's, La Valencia Terrace, The Cottage and Brockton Villa. In my opinion, BV was the best of the bunch, which is saying a lot because we enjoyed all the restaurants listed above. Our server was attentive but not overbearing, the food was well priced and delicious and we had a great seat along the rail overlooking the ocean.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways greatI've been a regular patron of The Brockton Villa for several years now. It's always a fantastic time. Prices are not that bad, and my only issue with the food is that the appetizer was a rather small portion (though was extremely delicious).
Ambience is always fantastic here, though it was a little cold when we went. You also need to be able to get used to the smell of the ocean. It's right next to seal beach, so if you can't stomach that strong fish smell, I would suggest sitting inside. They don't have a lot of room available on the balcony, but it would benefit the customer to have heat lamps out there.
I can't wait for the next special occasion for my gf and I to go back. Love this place.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen we visit the San DiegoWhen we visit the San Diego area, Brockton Villa is at the top of our "must eat" list. Delicious, beautifully presented food, in an historic building with a fabulous view. Wonderful service too!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst TimeReally a great view. The food was excellent. I would come again when I'm in town next time.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's hard to order anythingIt's hard to order anything but Coast Toast when you come here for breakfast/brunch. It is the best french toast in the world. The coffee is great and the service is attentive. A table for two on the balcony is scenic and relaxing, with a full spectrum of swimmers, divers, paddlers, cormorants, pelicans, seals and people gawking at the beautiful cove. I hate to be too complimentary, as I'd love to save the place for locals, but I think the word is out. Be sure to make a reservation, unless you enjoy standing in line.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch! Great ViewI've been here many times before and they have a great brunch. If you are looking for a place to take guests, it has a beautiful view of the La Jolla coast.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fresh and delicious. The food was fresh and delicious. My kids loved it and we loved the fact that the kids menu had some healthy options and when we requested the house salad to be mixed greens (instead of iceberg) for the kids, our waitress didn't hesitate on serving that!! Great service and very cold beer!!
Thanks for the beautiful view, too.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Brockton Villa alwaysThe Brockton Villa always delivers. The staff are great, reliable and conscientious no matter how busy the place gets. The Villa and patio have charm to spare.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent, fresh,Food was excellent, fresh, quick, better to eat onside because the sea lions smell pretty bad. But if you eat inside, its excellent.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMwe have enjoyed Brockton Villawe have enjoyed Brockton Villa in the past and did again this time but for one thing- the smell! we had planned on sitting on the veranda to enjoy both the view and the ambiance of the coastal location but were unable to do so because of the overpowering stench from the bird and sea lion stained cliffs below the restaurant. the restaurant has no control over that I realize but La Jolla needs to do something, we won't be back until that is resolved. And, that disturbs us because it is one of our favorite La Jolla destinations.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMI really love Brockton Villa.I really love Brockton Villa. The food is very good and we always have wonderful service. The view is amazing to say the least!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI ate here for the first timeI ate here for the first time ever with my Grandmother who was visiting from NY and loved it. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and didn't have any trouble finding parking. We had to wait a bit before we were noticed when we got seated, but overall the food was delicious and the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and polite. The crab cakes were incredible (I could have eaten 3 plates of them) and the Italian salad was larger than I thought it would be, so it ended up being the perfect thing to share. The prices are very reasonable for being right on the coast in La Jolla, too. My Grandmother raved about how she loved her experience and I'm definitely coming back here again.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service is prompt andThe service is prompt and the food tasty.
