Diner Reviews
  • "It's a go to spot to take anyone who comes into town. Nearly bottomless Mimosas and bloody Mary brunches for a reasonable price. Just a few minute walk from my apt and the food is always great!"

  • "My boyfriend and I have eaten at BB a number of times. We've had brunch and dinner. Going in there reminds me of the theme song from the tv show CHEERS where everybody knows your name. Come here to enjoy the ambiance, see your neighbors and most of al, to enjoy the food."

  • "Very pleasant atmosphere, good food and very reasonably priced. We have been there many times and plan to return many times."

  • "My friend and I stood in the doorway for over ten minutes. Not a single person greeted us. When we flagged down a server, she quickly brushed past us. We ended up walking out - if the service is that horrible before even sitting down, I couldn't imagine how awful it is during an actual meal. In a city like Chicago with so many other choices, why bother giving business to a place that doesn't seem to want it? No thanks."

  • "I had heard and read many good things about Broadway Cellars, so a friend and I decided to check it out. The food was good, but it is definitely comfort food. Everything is very 'heavy.' Our waiter, Matt, was very friendly, though, once it got busy, it was difficult getting a cup of coffee. The place was bustling on a Thursday night so, apparently, I'm in the minority of those who aren't in love with this place. That's ok. Happy to see they're successful."

  • "I used to go to Broadway Cellars quite a bit, as it was convenient to the kids school for after activities dinner, and it was a good solid place to bring guests, but had gotten away from there for awhile trying out new restaurants. We had a group dinner planned with people from out of town, and Broadway Cellars came to mind again. It was as good as I remembered. The waiter was exceptional. The food was great. We had a fantastic time."

  • "The Broadway Cellars has never disappointed us. We take people there whenever we can. Nearby, friendly, great food, good place for drinks and we see our neighbors often. Some dishes are so good, we try to make them at home."

  • "The Ned Beatty (bbq pulled pork over jalepeno cornbread with poached eggs an hollandaise) changed my life. So good. And bottomless mimosas were magical as well. Yum!"

  • "I've been here many times for the outstanding wine tasting events as well as dinner, but this was my first brunch. It was amazing!!! And they take reservations so you don't have to wait in line like every other place in the city. I highly recommend. Oh and bottomless mimosa's and bloody mary's...who doesn't love that! Sign up on their email list to get information on the monthly wine tastings!"

  • "I went with friends to Broadway Cellars and everything was fantastic. I had the salmon and it was excellent. My Malbec wine was delicious. It is a great place to talk with friends, because it's quiet and the children who were there behaved themselves. I would definitely come back."

  • "Broadway Cellars is the neighborhood restaurant that has everything, ambiance, friendly atmosphere and excellent food at good prices. At a recent reunion with my former coworkers we were treated to a delightful dinner with excellent service in a charming atmosphere. The pork chop and the salmon were both favorites and don't skip the homemade bread pudding. The considerable wine list was also well priced. Geri, the owner was friendly and accommodated our needs to a fault. The service from Anthony was impeccable."

  • "Broadway cellars never fails to please. The food and service are always outstanding, and they are very accomodating when it comes to adjusting reservations. One of, if not the best restaurants in edgewater."

  • "Our group of seven had a great time at Broadway Cellars. We were there early in the evening and service was very good. The menu has something for everyone, and the specials were terrific. "

  • "Although the menu stays pretty static, there are a lot of good choices in different categories, especially at brunch (don't forget the bottomless Mimosas or Bloodies!). Food is done well and is flavorful. What the server doesn't know, they follow up for you. Sidewalk seating is on the quiet street side and is a bit cramped but great when the weather's good. Wine list is decent and there are special wine events monthly so it seems they are trending to being more wine focused. But there is a cocktail program as well. All in all, a very nice neighborhood place with a diverse enough menu you can go frequently and with a group."

  • "I haven't been back to this spot in a few years so last night a friend and I stopped by for dinner and I am so glad I did. I forgot how wonderful this place is. I ordered the salmon which was cooked to perfection. It was fresh and flavorful. The julienned vegetables with it were equally tasty. I could have ate a bowl of them and been satisfied. The mashed sweet potatos were ok and a substitute for the grilled sweet potatoes that are served with it. I originally wanted brussel sprouts but was told it was policy to not substitue brussel sprouts for any items on the menu. I would have gladly paid extra for them but oh well. I love that they have outdoor dinning and that was one of the reasons I picked them for today. We'll be back."

  • "I have been here many times and they never disappoint! This time was for brunch at 11 am. the place was well staffed and well attended by customers. Can't beat the mimosas! $10 bottomless mimosa! Plus the options for breakfast and or lunch are a plenty!"

  • "While the food portions were quite large and good, service was really lacking. After entering we waited over 5 minutes for someone to greet us at the door. Then after being seated, we waited 15 minutes for our waiter to arrive, more time to place our order and then service was okay. It was a nice change of place, very reasonably priced and some nice wine values."

  • "The brunch menu was creative and the crab cakes superb. Broadway cellars takes brunch and makes it into a new adventure in casual dining. The poached eggs adorning our meals was a welcomed treat. The mimosas were a hit with those who indulged."

  • "I had a party of 8 and everyone was very impressed with the menu and the food was prepared very well and we had a great server. My only complaint was that the bottomless mimosas, the staff only came around 3 times to our table to fill them. This was a first time visiting the restaurant for everyone in my party and we would definitely come back again."

  • "Overall the food and ambience was pretty good - there were some plates that were a bit sour but they know how to cook a pork chop and their dishes are different combinations of good which seem to work "

  • "We loved this place!! So sad we didn't find it sooner. Reasonable prices, cute decor...I felt like I was back in Charleston, NC. Loved the outdoor seating, beautiful weather, food was absolutely delicious, mimosas great, out server, Kyle was very kind, funny and attentive. We enjoyed our early Mother's Day celebration, and we will be regulars from now on. Thank you!!!!"

  • "I went there specifically for the thursday night prime rib special. Its been ended, however, its still on the menu on the window. Our waiter couldn't get my drink order straight, and when he did get it straight, they couldn't make it (a moscow mule- as they don't have ginger beer), and was more concerned about giving us HIS opinions regarding the prime rib issue then making sure our concerns were heard. We also had an unbalanced table, and he forgot to come back to fix it, so we had to take care of that ourselves. The meatloaf I had was good, but overpriced for "meatloaf". The food is decent, but I doubt I'd make any special trips back there."

  • "This was our second visit to Broadway Cellars for our weekly Sunday Brunch! Unfortunately this time around our service was not as fantastic as before. The hostess did not greet us very warmly and was a little cold when we checked in for our reservation. Our server also was not the most pleasant (not bad by any means, just nothing special). The food was delicious, but just wish it could have been as spectacular as our first visit!"

  • "I was demoralized that I chose to go to the delightful Broadway Cellars on half price bottle wine night and couldn't drink! But the sublimely delicious salmon entree made up for it. And just because I asked, they gave me sweet potato fries to boot! The only thing on the plate that made me sad were the plethora of red pepper strips with the julienned veggies. The others were tasty, but I've noticed the inundation of red peppers is a trend in most restaurants I've visited this year, from LA to Chicago. Truly. Bleh.....gives me agida. But aside from those, the salmon was perfectly cooked and well seasoned and my dining companion said he would return simply for the Caesar salad. Our server was really great and the rest of the staff was on it!"

  • "Went to Sunday Brunch at Broadway Cellars. The food was very good, not outstanding. I had the ham and brie sandwich; terrific fries. (took half home) My companion had salmon Benedict, which looked yummy. Service was excellent. I really like this place, always have a great time."

  • "A little salty. Prices and portions are decent. Front of house (owner) made a big point of saying thank you and good night, something I always appreciate and is sometimes lacking."

  • "My wife and I were going to a play nearby and decided to give Broadway Cellars a try. Both the food and the service were great. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about both the food and the wine. When we mentioned we were on a schedule, it was no problem for them. We will be back."

  • "Great food and service! It was my first time there and I went with a friend for brunch. I had made a reservation, but my friend was running about 20 minutes late. Even though the place was busy, they sat us as soon as my friend arrived. The mimosas were a little heavy on the OJ but tasted good. The food was fantastic!!"

  • "We came for a special occasion. We wanted to do some special table decorations and everyone accommodated us. Letting us sit in comfy seats out of the way so we could surprise out guests, alerting us when the table was ready...it was above the normal standard. Our server, her name started with an A, I think (African American, curly hairdo), she was great. Very attentive, making our occasion feel special, constantly refilling the mimosas, putting a candle in my friend's desert and helping me handle the bill discreetly. She is so nice and great!"

  • "My first visit to BC was for brunch and fortunately I made a reservation because walk-ups were taking an hour to be seated. Knowing how good the brunch was, I would have waited without a reservation. The brunch menu is full of interesting egg dishes plus all the standards such as pancakes (evidently well-known specialty) or lox & bagel. Service was good and as attentive as expected with a very full house. Looking forward to many more return visits."

  • "I went to Broadway Cellars with three of my friends for brunch and we were so pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic and affordable, the service was great, and the bottomless mimosas were awesome. Our waitress was incredibly accommodating and knew a lot about the menu. She gave us great recommendations and took good care of us the whole time."

  • "Broadway Cellars is the kind of restaurant that best represents Chicago neighborhood dining; big enough so you're not wondering where everyone else is eating and small enough so you don't feel part of a herd. The food is 'neighborhood' outstanding; always tasty and fresh and the service is quite good. Plus, an inventive and reasonably priced wine and beer selection doesn't hurt at all. BC has specials every night so there is enough variety to satisfy pretty much everyone. It''s the kind of place you would not hesitate to take your out of town friends to."
