Diner Reviews
  • "We have dined here a couple of times. We adore the food, the menu is creative and the service is spectacular! We ate here the other night and then walked to The Pageant Of The Masters. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family."

  • "Dined at Broadway for our 14th wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 16th. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly. My wife and I sat at the chef's table and watched the 4 chefs work as one and prepare each plate before it went out. The chefs were friendly (even though they were very busy) and explained many dishes to us. Anyone who has not been to Broadway needs to go. Just a wonderful experience."

  • "The restaurant is noisy and the tables are jammed together. Given that it is a small space, I understand but it still feels like you are dining in one big group! Don't expect privacy or quiet conversation! My son had the salmon which he thought was good, but I had the duck breast which was awful. I never had duck that I did not like before this. The farro on the side was ok, but the duck was prepared weirdly, and not at all good."

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant. My friend had the salmon and I had the branzino--both superb. It is such a delight to have fine food right in the middle of town and not just down the highway. It made our visit to the Pageant of the Masters a greater experience. Great wines too!"

  • "I had the pleasure of being treated to Broadway by Amara for my 50th birthday. My father and I both chose the Monday prefix menu option with two glasses of wine. Dad had the ham terrine to start with, while I had the pork two ways (pork cheeks and belly). Both equally amazing! I had the roasted Skuna bay salmon and my dad the grilled marinated prime skirt steak. I don't eat beef, but my dad commented that the steak was a great, tender cut and the fingerling potatoes were done perfectly. My salmon was medium rare and the skin was as crisp as a potato chip. The mud pie desert was a coffee ice cream sandwich with an wonderful chocolate fudge dipping sauce. They also brought me a creme brulee with a lit candle. The staff was excellent! Thanks!"

  • "The food is some of the best I have ever tasted. The restaurant is packed together and noisy, not my place of choice for a special dinner. But I will return even with the crowd and the noise as the food is so good."

  • "We tried Broadway for our anniversary and were overall impressed with this hot spot. Cool Ambiance/decor, strong menu and wine list and great service. It was a little noisy and the tables were EXTREMELY close together. The food was good and had a beautiful presentation. It was a little pricey but worth it for a celebratory night out."

  • "We've come to Laguna Beach for the Pageant, each year, in search of a great restaurant. We have found it! The food, ambiance and service were fantastic."

  • "Great food, imaginative cooking and enthusiastic team. Best meal in Laguna this 2 week vacation ( we come every year from London) can't believe we have missed this restaurant last few years but now we have discovered it we will be back alot!"

  • "Amazing meals every time. Cocktails are fab and the octopus is my fav!! Do yourself a favor and go!!"

  • "We really enjoyed our evening at Broadway! Friendly, upbeat, out spot with great atmosphere that is only outdone by the incredible food & cocktails! Definitely will go again!"

  • "We do not get to Laguna Beach that often, but this is the 2nd time in the past year we got to eat at Broadway. It's a great venue that you would miss if you stayed on Forest Ave. The mixologists have a line-up of cocktails that makes it challenging to choose from (all look so good). The front of the house staff was helpful in finding us a bar table to sit at, while our table cleared out. The food was fantastic. I had octopus, which was cooked perfectly, with sauces on the plate I could not leave alone. My branzino and my wife's porkchop were seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the side of Brussels sprouts were tasty, 'healthy' morsel. We can't wait to get back to town and have another meal at Broadway, and recommend it to everybody."

  • "This place was great. The food was different and delicious. They are the only bar in town that actually knows how to make an original Mai Tai! Just like the old Trader Vic's! I felt like I was back at the Halikalani Hotel. The only negative I have is that it was very noisy and was hard to hear the other person at the table."

  • "Wow truly the best meal I've had in awhile. Everything was sensational! From the Heirloom Tomato Salad, Spanish Octopus A La Plancha and Crispy Braised Duroc Pork Belly then the Herb Roasted Mediterranean Branzino, Grilled Prime New York Strip Steak and Grilled Marinated Prime Skirt Steak along with a wonderful bottle of Justin, Isoceles. This is my NEW favorite in Laguna Beach for sure. Great food, incredible people and awesome ambiance!"

  • "Food was outstanding, got the chefs bar top or table. Amazed by what a small kitchen can put out. Everything we had was better than the last. Started with hamachi, it full of flavor and refreshing. We next shared the charcuterie and crispy pork belly, the house made pates were spectacular. For entree we had the Sonoma duck, the artichoke and fennel puree phenomenal, Pork Delmonico the cheesy grits were great. Passed on dessert this time, but will back for them next time."

  • "From the penthouse to the dog house in a year. Been here 3 times and the fall has been percipitous. Awesome the first time, not as good the second and disaster the third. It started with the waitress, who was not interested in doing her job. Had to summon her to get her to come to our table. On the other hand, the bus staff here is excellent. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have been served drinks, bread or water. As for the food, other than the appetizers, what a disappointment. The butterfly prawns were almost indelible. The knife barely made a dent in them they were so tough. And my wife's salmon was mediocre. The waitress never inquired how our food was the whole evening. She was basically MIA. Management needs to make some changes."

  • "I've eaten at Broadway by Amar several times and the food is usually excellent. But not this time. The seared octopus first was up to its usual high standard, but the chocolate cavatelli pasta was undistinguished at best. Normally the flavors of this dish stand out crisply, but this time they were muddled. And finally, dessert menu wasn't especially appealing. I eventually selected the chocolate brownie, which once again had no real flair. I was also disappointed to see that saki is no longer on the wine list. This perplexed the server, who was able to scrounge a glass of a reasaonable brand, but I'd like to see it back."

  • "Broadway features all of today's greatest foodie hits. Let's see, Bone marrow-check; kale salad-check; pork belly-check; craft cocktails-check. I could go on. However, like a great loung singer, they perform those hits very well. Started with a Toronto cocktail, which was excellent. Had the bone marrow and pork belly apps, both tasty. Dinner was the pork delmonico which came on cheesy grits and was excellent. A bit pricy but worth it."

  • "outstanding food and service, however do not attempt to have an intimate dinner as conversation is impossible"
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "The food is great - portion size a little off. Two of us ordered the salmon and one was half the size of the other. The restaurant is very loud so don't expect to have any intimate conversations. As for seating -- make sure you tell you don't want the table at the very backback of the restaurant next to servers computer -- your chair will be bumped just about ever 12 seconds. So other than those issues the price was good and the food very tastey."
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "Food is fantastic, but tables are crammed so close it makes me not want to visit often due to the lack of privacy of conversations."

  • "The menu at Broadway was excellent providing choices for all food tastes. Start at the bar and get their homemade Moscow Mule, which is on tap! There are plenty of creative drinks and a good variety of bourbons. Get some appetizers, they are all "freakin' amazing"(to quote the bar tender), but the bone marrow was outstanding. Chef Santana is creative and changes his menu at times to keep things fresh, so we will definitely be going back. The restaurant is superbly decorated and is both comfortable and comforting. Great high beam ceilings."

  • " Took my daughter to the Pagent of the masters & we had dinner at Broadway first. It was her first tine there. We had dinner early, so we missed the crowd & usual intense noise level. The food & service did not disappoint. It was wonderful... My daughter has some food allergies & the waitress (Erin) was very helpful... Always a favorite!"

  • "A friend if mine and I had dined at Broadway a year ago, we enjoyed the vibe and our server was very knowledgeable about wine and poured us a few tastes of some wonderful wines. We enjoyed the food and overall had a good experience. This visit it was more difficult to find something on the menu that sounded appealing and I'm sure that all ingredients are top quality. We almost left the restaurant. Needless to say, we would be hard pressed to return to Broadway, especially with all the other choices available in Laguna."

  • "Thank you again for another great night of food and spirits! Your staff is professional, knowledgable, friendly and made our dining experienece spatacular! Your chefs are unbelievable with the menu and once again, prepared an unbelievable Vegan dinner for my husband. We brought an out-of-town family member here to impress him with what we always experience, great food and ambiance. We found you last year when walking around downtown Laguna and stopped in for a drink with my sister and brother-in-law last year. We loved the ambiance and my hubby and I came back and celebrated Valentine's Dinner and were pleasantly surprised. We sat at the food bar and were amazed at the chefs and food preparation. Favorite restaurant hands down!"

  • "The restaurant was excellent as usual. The service was prompt, friendly & professional. As always the food is the reason to dine at this restaurant. Every dish by Amar Santana is creative, brilliantly executed & well presented. The noise level can get a little high but it's fun to see people really enjoying themselves & experiencing great food. They also accommodate the customer - for example allowing diners to 'mix & match' their food choices; or allow diners to choose elements of a Prix Fixe menu to be selected á la carte should a diner so choose. This is a restaurant that is an excellent addition to the local dining scene. Our Houseguests from Pacific Palisades raved about the food. We will be back."

  • "I would suggest sitting at the counter where you can observe all the action and the hustle and bustle of the cooking staff as they create each savory dish from start to finish. It is like being on the set of Hell's Kitchen but Amar Santana style. The serving staff are very attentive and courteous. Even the restrooms are designed to satisfy the very meticulously-detailed individuals."

  • "The MARINATED BEET SALAD was amazing! The BUTTER POACHED PRAWNS and HERB ROASTED MEDITERRANEAN BRANZINO were delicious and plentiful!!! And the CRISP BRUSSELS SPROUTS were a perfect compliment to our wonderful meal! Each item was so memorable and delicious! We topped off our beautiful meal with the LEMON RICOTTA FRITTERS which was the perfect suggestion by our waiter! The service is perfect, professional, and helpful when asked! The Broadway offers Far Niente Chardonnay by the glass! What a special evening! Thank you, Amar Santana!"

  • "Prior to attending the Pageant of the Masters my wife and I had dinner at Broadway. Heirloom Tomato Salad and Beet Salad were great starters. The menu at this restaurant is primarily based on seafood and I was at fault for choosing this location as my wife is not a big fan of fish of any kind. The descriptions of the seafood items were not tempting so I ordered the Delmonico Pork which was good and my wife had side dishes as her dinner. For all the buzz about this restaurant, we were disappointed and will not return again."

  • "Absolutely fantastic experience. My delicious specialty cocktai with tequila, avocado cream and...? started things off. We did the tasting menu while sitting at the chef's table where we could watch them prepare food. We always like to see what the chef have in store on a tasting menu and we were not disappointed. From the parsnip soup with crispy lardons to the fried donuts with lemon cream and rosemary honey our dinner was just one delight after another. Can't wait to go back."

  • "I like this restaurant, but it's missing something to make it terrific. I'm primarily a fish eater and fish is not their forte. Every time we've ordered fish, we've thought that it wasn't prepared as well as at our favorite restaurants. Last time we went, we had the duck and it was very good and the sides were well thought out. Our appetizer of heirloom tomatoes was fabulous and the deserts and wine were very good as well. The service is very good and although we were seated just past the bar, we were able to speak without shouting. I will definitely be back; I just wish that they would improve the fish selections and not overcook them."

  • "our service was terrible and the tables are set up so that you are inches away from your fellow diners. The food was good, but a dish didn't match its description on the menu. Overall not worth the money."

  • "We've been in the restaurant 6 times already and every time it's a great experience: - Amazing food with a menu that changes some of its courses pretty often (In each of the 6 times I was there I tried different combinations of 1st and main course) - Great Service - HIGHLY recommended for a party of 2-4 - Seat on the bar facing the kitchen- It is amazing to see 3 talented chefs produce this high quality food for so many guests - the atmosphere is great - Like a NY restaurant. And you can see all employees love their work. One thing that I loved the most is that at the end of the shift the chefs fix a late dinner to all employees (Looks good - Once they gave us a taste as well :))."
