Diner Reviews
  • "Great food...the ramos fizz is the best I have ever had!!"

  • "Broadway is a good find. It's located in the heart of Laguna Beach. The octupus appetizer was good but served in a small portion. Skirt steak is very good however the lamb was a disappointment."

  • "We've been in the restaurant 6 times already and every time it's a great experience: - Amazing food with a menu that changes some of its courses pretty often (In each of the 6 times I was there I tried different combinations of 1st and main course) - Great Service - HIGHLY recommended for a party of 2-4 - Seat on the bar facing the kitchen- It is amazing to see 3 talented chefs produce this high quality food for so many guests - the atmosphere is great - Like a NY restaurant. And you can see all employees love their work. One thing that I loved the most is that at the end of the shift the chefs fix a late dinner to all employees (Looks good - Once they gave us a taste as well :))."

  • "Our dinner was great. We had the salmon and chicken both great. We also had the best grilled octopus. We brought our own wine but after checking the wine list we decided next time to try some of the great gems listed"

  • "While a bit more pricey than expected but would definitely come back. 1 person in our party of 4 was a bit difficult to please, but the server handled it extremely well. Food was very good, portions were definitely not skimpy. 1 of the desserts, the cheesecake, had an "off" flavor. Called our server over, told her that all 4 of us thought something was off, she suggested another dessert and had it on our table in less than 90 seconds. She was excellent during our entire meal. Only suggestion we all would make is about the wines. 2 of the people asked for recommendations. The wine captain brought over a wine for each & just poured them. 1 wasn't all that great. Would have been better to offer them a taste first."

  • "This is our first time being disappointed in our experience at Broadway. We asked prior to our arrival to be seated at the back of the restaurant away from the bar and the hostess was not receptive to the request and ultimately when we arrived she seated us at the worst table that was closest to the bar area. It was so loud we could not hear each other even though we were sitting at a small table. It also took over 15 minutes for us to get the drinks we ordered immediately after being seated. While several of the dishes were as good as we recall from prior visits, some were not up to our expectations. Maybe it was an off night, but we will not be in a hurry to return. This used to be our favorite restaurant in Laguna."

  • "This is a fairly new restaurant that is very good in terms of food, drink and service, but the noise level is off the charts. It is virtually impossible to have a dinner conversation unless the restaurant calms down later in the evening. If you can stand it, the food is outstanding."

  • "We arrived at 6 p.m. per our reservation and we were promptly seated at the counter across the kitchen. It was delightful to be able to converse with the chefs about the menu and watch them prepare the great variety of dishes. Our son had been there before and recommended the bone marrow appetizer. Although unsure we tried it and loved lit. I had the skirt steak which was very flavorful and cooked exactly as I requested. My wife had the Scottish salmon and a special beet salad which she loved. Throughout the entire 2 hour + experience the servers and chefs interacted with us and answered questions about the various dishes being prepared."

  • "After dining here for 4-5 times I can honestly say everything on the menu is outstanding in quality, appeal and flavor. The wine list is well chosen with available half bottles and a strong California showing at reasonable prices. The bar is a great place to have a pre dinner cocktail, bartenders are the real deal with great suggestions and craft beers on tap. Don't miss this one its excellent."

  • "They re-did the old 5-Feet space into a lovely restaurant with a drink bar and a food bar. The choices were fantastic. The tastes sublime. He really did a great job. Will definitely go back when we're in the neighborhood"

  • "Noise level was ridiculous, seating way too tight and food only average. Salmon was very good but vegetable plate a real disappointment and should have been so much better. Definitely a popular spot but didn't live up to all the hype. Plenty of other places to try in Laguna Beach."

  • "We have had the pleasure of dining at Broadway 4 times and each time was incredible. We are always so impressed with the delicious and masterful preparation of each of the entrees we had ordered. Always have to order the brussel sprouts - so yummy."

  • "Simply the best food in Laguna Beach at this time. Imaginative, creative and tasty. Wonderful ,knowledgeable staff. Great wine list and superb cocktails. Our go to spot when we want a night on town. 32 0z Tomahawk Chop for Father's Day was awesome!"

  • "We ate at Broadway for the first time on Friday night and were absolutely blown away by the awesome food, service and experience. Amar and his staff are amazing. We tried his tasting menu and found each bite to be perfect-from start to finish. Nice wine pairings too. That's difficult for any restaurant to do and we have tried the best! Thanks for a wonderful meal, suburb service and a counter experience not to be missed. Loved it. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Sat at the chefs table area overlooking the kitchen and had a phenomenal dinner. Amar and his sous chefs put together amazing food, and I will definitely be back. Great place to try something other than steak or salmon. Venture out a bit and you won't be disappointed. "

  • "Made reservations at this place weeks prior to my arrival...heard good things about it. They tried to sit my friend and I at the counter instead of a table. We protested and got a table five minutes later. Our drinks took so long to arrive we though they were growing the grain to distill it. Service and food were OK overall. I got the beet salad to start and it had waaaay too much cheese...have had better."

  • "We eat at Broadway every few months, the food is amazing, and it's a great location too! I've loved every app & entrée I've tried, not to mention great signature cocktails. We had dinner at Broadway last weekend with close friend who live in NY, so it was a special night out. Food was excellent as always, but the service was lacking this time. It was disappointing to feel rushed to eat, when our entrees were being dropped at the table while our friend was literally still eating his appetizer. With food cooked to perfection, you can let it just sit there, so without having even 1 minute between apps & entrees, we had to quickly start eating. Why the rush? Not sure who's expediting the pass, but he needs help with his timing. "

  • "Our table was "smushed" between two other tables... the odor of perfume from the right, and the odor of broccoli from the left was nauseating. I could hear the conversations from both tables as well. Not my idea of relaxing or pleasant. I asked if I could have the kale caeser salad with a different lettuce, not kale... the restaurant could not even do that simple of a substitution. I ordered eggplant - and got edamame instead... at least the fries were great. the salmon was cooked to perfection and so was the skirt steak. I'd never go back."

  • "Go for the tasting menu. The doughnuts for dessert are the best."

  • "I have always had good experiences here. The food is wonderful, the service welcoming. We are so impressed with the wine selection, too. Steak, fries, fish, salads, all have been solid. I do think if you ever got something "bad" or off, they would correct it right away--though that has not happened as yet. The kitchen is right there near the bar, so you can see everything. My boyfriend hates brussel sprouts, but when I come here with others I get them--the sausage and maple glaze is so good. I love the arty/Laguna ambience. The tables are close together, but in general the crowd is nice and it's just an overall fun place to be. Have had wonderful waitstaff and awesome cocktails, as well."

  • "The pork belly app was amazing with scallion oil and a mushroom reduction on the plate. The server was not present and hard to find but managed to upsell us a side of edamame, which did not arrive until after the entrees and was charred and dried out. Apparently they were supposed to be charred? It was inedible. That and an extremely overpriced glass of Chardonnay at $26 were disappointing. My date's entree had a smear of baby food looking paste on the plate, which was sweet and orange but looked questionable, but his steak was rare and he ordered it medium. I highly reccomend the sweetbreads, and look forward to tryingore dishes as delicious as that one and pork belly! "

  • "Great service as always. Must start with the Moscow Mule and finish with the Panna Cotta. Everything in between is probably a safe bet to be a nice variation on the "usual fare". The Cape Cod oysters were yummy but gone too quickly."

  • "Except for the noise, we were very impressed with the food. On the advice of the couple sitting next to us, we tried the brussel sprouts side dish. I never have liked brussel sprouts, but this was the most tasty dish I've had in years. I'd order it for the main course. The cocktails were creative. The main downside was the noise level --- way too loud. They should try to do something with the acoustics in the place. PS: We went for our wedding anniversary. I had included a note in my OpenTable reservation, and the restaurant actually paid attention and gave my beautiful wife a nice little dessert and candle for the occasion."

  • "Selected this restaurant from Open Table reviews and we were not disappointed! Sat at chef' stable; went early before crowds. Chocolate brownie something dessert was out of this world delicious. "

  • "Our cocktails were inventive and fun and our starters were delicious. One entree was not cooked to temperature and the other was fine. They were quick to fix things and super attentive for service. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the noise level, while energetic, does not drown out conversations. I would come back and as one mistake in undercooking a dish can happen anywhere. "

  • "We sat at the Chef's Counter and the SHOW was tremendous. However, the tasting menu was just "so-so." When you are sitting there watching all the food prep, it would be nice to select what you want. In other words, the halibut on risotto looked AMAZING, but we were not served that. A flank steak on a tasting menu? Far too basic. For the price, I would have expected more. "

  • "The restaurant was cute and trendy! The tables are a bit close to each other, but I didn't mind. The food was absolutely amazing! Everything was delicious and we order too much. This is what we had: HOUSE CHARCUTERIE AND SALAMI BOARD - my favorite was the mousse and prosciutto ROASTED BONE MARROW - this was absolutely delicious PAN ROASTED MAINE SEA SCALLOPS - it was great, but my friend didn't realize it was with squid ink risotto so if you don't like squid, it can be strong DRY AGED SONOMA DUCK BREAST - so tender and moist and they even slice it for you CRISP BRUSSELS SPROUTS, CHINESE SAUSAGE, CILANTRO, SWEET AND SOUR we had a free dessert for my birthday - creme brulee and order a cheese cake too "

  • "If you want to go get a cocktail in Laguna, this is the place. Michael the bar manager is amazing and has done some wonderful things with his craft at Broadway. However, if you are hungry make sure you avoid Broadway at all costs. The food is bland and nothing really works together. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and we ended the night extremely disappointed and upset for wasting our night here. Like I said, for drinks this place is amazing, service was fine, but food was awful...such a bummer."

  • "I have followed Chef Santana from Charlie Palmer's to his own fabulous Broadway. Each and every time I have gone has been memorable to me, and it is one restaurant that I can always recommend without fear of "failure," be it the food, service, cocktails, anything...because everything is perfect."

  • "Chef Amar and Ahmed have created a special dining experience. Everything is prepared with precision. The service team is phenomenal as well, which is very rare in Orange County. Michael, the sommelier, always has the best recommendations for every palate and budget. We love to take new people there and see them enjoy the experience. You must have the Octopus! "

  • "We had dinner here last Wednesday and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations. I had heard it was good. But found it to be excellent. My wife has a culinary degree and she too was very impressed with both the presentation and food. We had the chicken and pasta entrees and a side of the zucchini and Brussels sprouts (would love to have that Brussels sprout recipe - it's like candy). The ambiance and decor are very inviting as well. The owner/host Ahmed was very gracious to us and I saw him very involved in the operation and greeting many people warmly, he's clearly well liked. Overall an A+ experience."

  • "My grandma always warned us that too much of a good thing was bad for you! Well grandma never went to Broadway! One dish after another and you cannot say stop! Just one more dish is all you crave--then another! My wife and I have a share strategy. We order dishes and then split them. That way we can enjoy more of the great tastes coming out of the kitchen. Still you reach a point where you do say enough or the servers would have to carry you to the car--which I am sure they would do. The only thing you can do is remember the meal and plan for the next one. That way you only have to say little enoughs."
