Diner Reviews
  • "Had my 25th birthday dinner here and it was my first time at brix as well. The food was great and the service was amazing. The server was very friendly and outgoing! Such a great experience :)"

  • "Great place to be.one thing was the fried chicken and waffles was a little bit dry."

  • "When we arrived the hostess wasn't very friendly, and there were different hosts standing by the door when we left and they didn't acknowledge that we were leaving, they were too busy talking to each other. Our waiter was incredibly friendly but kept forgetting about out requests. In a party of six, five of us received our food at about the same time, but one person had to ask about his burger about ten minutes after everyone else got their food. The waoter's friendly attitude definitely helped, but he did forget to bring a dessert menu for ten minutes after we requested it. Great atmosphere and food though."

  • "A great restaurant if you want a fun atmosphere and be surrounded by younger people. We've been twice and 90% of the diners have been in their 20s to 30s, with some 40s, and the rest of age groups scattered like pepper. The food is tasty, portions are good, service is good, bar is very good."

  • "In a nutshell: it was overcrowded, tables sitting one on top of another, food had zero taste- everything was flavored with black pepper- period...the wait time was longer than I've ever had and there was really slow service that left us with empty glasses. Super disappointing especially since it was a birthday dinner for us"

  • "My girlfriend and I were looking to partake in Portland Dining month and what a perfect spot to do so! We started off with tomato basil soup for me, salad for her, then moved onto entrees. I had the atlantic salmon, which was delicious and she enjoyed the mac and cheese. Finally, finishing off with cheesecake (mine) and crem brulee (hers) we will definitely be back!"

  • "Great atmosphere, and the homemade donuts to start was a nice touch!"

  • "The staff did a fantastic job wrangling a 9 year old, a four year old and a 10 month old while the four adults chattered on about our lives. Nice!"

  • "Loved the whiskey list and enjoyed the cocktail. We went for Portland Dining Month specials; ended up with the Thursday Special instead. The food wagood. The service was pleasant and competent, but quite slow. Two-plus hours for dinner and dessert on a Thursday night wasn't really what we expected. So noisy we could not carry on a conversation across the table. Could have been because of the large rowdy birthday party we were seated next to. Listening to twenty-something frat boys yelling obscenities across the table at each other while downing Jager shots didn't add much to our enjoyment of the evening. We might try it on a quieter night, but we're not sure that even happens here. Good place if you don't mind the bedlam."

  • "Excellent burger, amazing clam chowder, Halibut and tots, sassy BBQ ribs and the best PDX chicken pot pie - but the underdressed and tasteless Caesar salad not so good. I also loved my $3 beer in a bag surprise - an ice-cold 16 oz Rainer. Both times we went in the last couple of months were great food, and a great time with good friends. For 2 or more - make reservations - we ended up at Paragon across the street one night when a table for 4 was an hour wait without reservations."

  • "We had an awesome experience at Brix Tavern. The brunch was amazing and the service was fantastic!"

  • "I love the food here. Usually order the trio of beef and it is always done to perfection. Tonight the service was amazing. Our server, Lauren, was fun, attentive, and helpful in every way. Great night."

  • "We were a group of 31, and we were all impressed by the deliciousness of our dishes and the efficiency of the kitchen. The real star, though, was our server, who single-handedly made our whole experience seamless, warm, and well timed. Kudos!"

  • "I cannot understand why Brix was pretty full on a Wed night. I ordered the tomato soup (was actually good), chicken pot pie (sauce was runny, pastry was not thoroughly cooked, shrooms were awful) and cheesecake (I love cheesecake, I couldn't finish this desert - graham cracker crust (I think) was chewy and spongey. My cup of decaf was warm and not hot as coffee should be. In fact, NONE of the warmed foods were hot - only a little warm. Too bad, the soup was the best part of the meal. The wine pour was skimpy - if that was 3 oz I'd be shocked. The cocktail had alcohol in it? Doubtful - too limey to even taste. I won't be going back."

  • "I have become addicted to the fantastic brunch menu at Brix. The food is not expensive, but the ingredients are fresh and always delicious. The house made donuts are absolutely to die for, and bottomless mimosas are fantastic :)"

  • "Wow!! I came with a couple girlfriends for dinner the other night, we had the best time!! Our server (I think her name was Carlie) was fantastic, very knowledgable and patient with all of our questions! My only complaint, I ordered the burger which they are known for, there was no mention of peppers in the description and I am very sensitive to the spice. Other than that everything was awesome!! From drinks to dessert we were extremely satisfied first timers!"

  • "the food was great. only negative part of the experience was that we had to wait 45 minutes despite having a reservation."

  • "Legs in the air, wiggling. Enough said. The manager comped our meal but after that, we couldn't eat. Just drank wine (and they were out of my first choice of wine)."

  • "Had a group of 11 in the loft. Took a whole for the waitress to get to us. Weird setup. Not as described on phone. Food was average. None of the appetizers were notable."

  • "too noisy and busy for me, food was overpriced and not that great"

  • "We went as a group of 10 for my husband's birthday, and our overall experience was good. Our reservation was for 6:15 so we could enjoy the happy hour deals, but we weren't seated until 6:30 when happy hour ends. I brought it up to our server, and she made sure we were able to get in one round of food and drinks at the happy hour prices. Some people in our party were bothered that our waters were not refilled, but I didn't notice until it was time to pay. The cocktails, Brix Chips, Calamari, and pizza were all delicious! The menu is huge, so there's options for everyone. I definitely plan to come back, especially for happy hour."

  • "The food was beautifully plated, but so crammed together that it was difficult to distinguish between individual foods. The cheese grits were the best part. The predominant Glasgow of the plate was smoke.. It was difficult to taste anything but the oak smoke. The cocktails were good, their huckleberry gimlet is addictive! The server was entertaining and personable. Fun to try, but repeat visit isn't likely."

  • "Brix was tasty but quite loud on a Friday evening."

  • "I been to Brix several times and they never fail to disappoint. Good food, good drink, and good times were enjoyed by all."

  • "Menu is varied enough for most likes. Service was excellent... timely, knowledgeable and friendly. Food was good but the fondue was very basic (like velvita). Make reservations if you are going on the weekend because it is very busy and loud. We had an OpenTable reservation and were seated almost immediately... I know others have said they had issues."

  • "Our group came to Brix to celebrate a birthday in our group. The Birthday girl chose it because the happy hour menu looked good, and she'd never been. However, everyone received their food and had finished eating before the guest of honor even received hers. We're not sure what happened to her order, but that was unfortunate. Our server was very apologetic and brought her another drink. Because one of the other guests paid the entire bill, I'm not sure if her food and/or drink were comp'd, I sure hope so."

  • "Always a fun place to be! The food and service are great."

  • "Excellent service, but the food was extremely disappointing. Tried the Happy Hour menu and pulled pork sliders were extremely fatty and the sauce was very unappealing. Noise in the restaurant exceeds 90dB and holding a conversation is nearly impossible. Very disappointed... no hurry to return. Did have a good experience with Brunch there, so that might be a better bet."

  • "We have enjoyed Brix Tavern for a while now. Great atmosphere for group gatherings and great food and service. We will be back sooner than later I'm sure. Outdoor seating in late spring- summer is best as indoors can get a little loud. Great food though!"

  • "All in all a great experience for brunch, will try it for dinner as I gave heard their appetizers and dinners are great! Only issue was my husbands coffee cup went dry and my Mimosa did not get refilled for sometime."

  • "Very nice service and food once seated. Even with a reservation we had to stand to wait too long. 20 minutes. We enjoyed the 3 course meal and our waitress was very attentive! Good NW cuisine."

  • "We have been wanting to try Brix for a very long time and finally had the chance. It was excellent & did not disappoint. We were celebrating our 17th wedding Anniversary and loved the Meat trio to share with a great bottle of wine. I probably wouldn't recommend it as an Anniversary spot because it was so loud and there were a lot of large groups. 2 of which were getting louder & louder as the night progressed. However, whatever you do make a reservation on Open Table especially on the weekends. We did and walked right in & pass all the people who were standing there for over an hour. The service was fast and friendly and they were very attentive. I would definitely recommend this place."

  • "We went for the $29 dining out menu and the things we ordered would have been $29 anyway. No deal really. The restaurant was great to amuse our 7 yr old with a pool table and video games in the back. We enjoyed the Shiraz and thought it was very good and reasonably priced and the food was tasty. Very disappointed with the service and felt ignored by the server."

  • "Had dinner with my husband and another couple and we all loved the food. The atmosphere was fun, great happy hour cocktails and prices. We definately want to go back and would highly recommend."

  • "Came here with my boyfriend for an anniversary dinner. The portions were perfect, and the chicken fried chicken was to die for! Waitress always seemed to be around as I was about to finish a glass of wine as well. We shared the cheesecake for dessert and it was absolutely amazing. Rich and creamy as cheesecake should be. We'll definitely be coming here again."

  • "Although we had a reservation we waited an additional 1/2 hour to be seated. So classifing this as a hot spot felt appropiate. The food was ok....ny husband and I had the french dip...because we felt it should be good with the wood burning ovens. I felt the sandwich was creazy ....and we probably should have spiit it....I wouldn't order it again. The other people in my party split a pizza....it looked alright except not a lot of goodies on it. You may want to include an alternative size for your pizza and maybe offer something that had more toppings? My husband and my meal with one drink each came to almost $60 ...I think was alot."

  • "I love that Brix takes reservations for brunch. It is hard to get a group together on weekends because many places do not. However, I was able to make a reservation for 18 people and celebrate my birthday with bottomless mimosas and delicious food. It was a great time!"
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "My review may not be fair because it was a special Valentine's Day menu, however, the food still should have been representative of Brix usual fare, in quality & taste. From the appetizer to the lobster bisque to the salmon on polenta - everything was covered in sauce or cheese or both. Way too heavy for my taste. Dessert was out of the question because I was miserable from all the richness. We will try Brix again because we like to give places a second chance. Fingered crossed."
