Diner Reviews
  • "The wife and I were looking for a nice place to eat out this last weekend that would complement our desire for non processed fresh food and adhere to our low carb diet. We looked on line to see if the menu would accommodate the low carb needs. We already knew the food was good since we had eaten here before. When we arrived and reviewed the menu it did not match what was on line. The choices were still good and we found entrees to suit our tastes. We both had martinis, shared a meat and cheese board and enjoyed our entrees. The only two down sides to the evening were a very noisy table next to us that was obnoxiously laughing over and over, and our waitress, occupied by that table of laughers, never asked to get us new drinks."

  • "We were hoping to find a nice place to take our son and his family to dinner in Flag for an adult meal with 2 small kids. Brix was a great choice. Living in Phoenix and traveling the US weekly we go to many wonderful restaurants all the time, Brix ranks right up there with some of the best in Phoenix. They had specialty cocktails (fresh lime juice for a Vodka Gimlet, awesome), not one dish had a flaw, the wait staff was very attentive and even had crayons for the kids. I'm kinda glad they aren't in Phoenix or I would have a to put them in the regular rotation with The Gladly, Virtue and the Tuck Shop, making my decisions even harder. If you like contemporary American food and want a NICE meal then go here, no question Thank you Brix!"

  • "Whever we come thru Flag, once a year or so, we always have a meal at Brix and our meal this past week was thoughtfully prepared, nicely executed and delicious! The cauliflower sauté was satisfying and well seasoned, (though just a bit more caramelization on the 'fleurettes' would have improved the dish', and both pastas were excellent...bolognese and sausage. We enjoy the interesting wine list and well crafted cocktails. We look forward to our return...perhaps again in a year or so!"

  • "This was my first time ever having Brix. My thoughts were always are they worth spending all that money? Yes, yes they are! The service was great and the food was AMAZING! We got the brussle sprouts to start out with, then for our main entrée I got the lamb and my friend got the risotto, and last we finished the night with a crème brûlée. We were stuffed and very satisfied. All of our meals were delicious and cooked perfectly."

  • "I found this restaurant from the AAA tour guide. We were so surprised by thee food, service and the wine list. My fiancee is a wine sub and he was delighted with the wine selection. Even my picky son enjoyed the food. What a gem. It was on the expensive side but it was great."

  • "We enjoyed everything, from Esteban's sommelier skills (our first time trying a Chardonnay from Colorado, which was terrific) to the fine food. Very appealing menu with small plates (try the roasted Brussels sprouts, and the beets with pesto) and entrees to savor. The steak frites was wonderful. I hope our daughter goes to NAU so we can go back soon!"

  • "We were given a gift certificate from our realtor that we bought some property from. Since we are relocating to the area, we wanted to try some of the restaurants and hot spots. Enjoyed our treat very much, and plan to go back. Loved the menu and service and ambiance was excellent."

  • "We were very fortunate to obtain a reservation for dinner on Tuesday evening. The restaurant was busy had a great buzz about the place. Everything that has been written about this restaurant are all true. Outstanding food, great and knowledgeable staff, good wine list. I would encourage you to make a reservation you will certainly not be disappointed. We are so happy that we made a slight detour to eat here."

  • "Stayed in Flagstaff during a road trip to Vegas. Heard about Brix in the historic district of Flagstaff, so decided to try it. The experience was amazing, from the quaint building to the wonderful wait staff and amazing chef. We had 4 small plates - each one amazing!!! We plan on returning whenever we're in the area."

  • "Scheduled for an anniversary dinner.....requested an "intimate" setting, if available.....it was, back in a smaller, cozy room. We were the first ones there. Within a short time, a family of 5 arrived to celebrate an 11-year-old's birthday party....and they were sat in the tiny room with us!!!!! It was noisy, no longer intimate. That family ended up being high maintenance and we felt practically forgotten. The food itself wasn't bad, but this restaurant is trying to price itself with actual high-dollar, quality restaurants. And it's failing miserably. I expect to pay higher dollar for a certain quality food and dining atmosphere. I've dined frequently at fine restaurants in the Phoenix Metro area."

  • "I ordered the steak frites, the meat was overcooked on the outside just about burnt and undercooked on the inside. Crunchy and difficult to chew."

  • "Looking for a foodies' delight in Flagstaff recently my wife and I found the Brix. Food was good, Atmosphere was romantic, and compared to like restaurants in Scottsdale, I found the value was above average. If you are enjoying the cool air in Flagstaff these days, cool your heels at Brix."

  • "We were a group of 8, 4 adults and 4 children, we spent New Year in brix, 7 times the menu was very good and were very friendly with children."

  • "Brix is always the best restaurant in Flagstaff, but they outdid themselves New Year's Eve with an excellent five course meal from seared scallops to lobster bisque to Parmesan fettuccine to baked sturgeon with caviar and gnocchi to a medley of citrus flavors in the dessert."

  • "We've been dining at Brix 4-5 times a year, when overnighting in Flagstaff. It gets better and better, and our recent ecperience there, on 12/27/13, was the best yet. The food was over the top, and the service (thanks again, Becca) was even better than the food. Brix has become the only restaurant we choose for an evening meal in Flagstaff. Highly recommended by a pair of seasoned travelers and serious foodies."

  • "There aren't many restaurants in flagstaff that are truly outstanding, but Brix is one of them. The service was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. They were great with our 2 kids and modified everything for them. I would definitely go back if I'm back in flagstaff. It is a rare gem."

  • "I've lived in Flagstaff since 1996 and it's always been tough to find a place that 1) has a kitchen that's open late, and 2) has exceptional food. Our dining choices have definitely upgraded over the last 10 years, but the late night thing is still a challenge. My son had a holiday concert that got out at 9 pm, and we wanted to celebrate his performance. Thankfully, Brix is open after 9 pm AND has really good, locally sourced food. Even though we were kind of shutting the place down, we appreciated that our server was still enthusiastic and attentive. Our service was well paced as well. Highlights were the duck poutine, the pan roasted chicken, and the mushroom risotto."

  • "I have eaten here on two other occasions w/o any negative reactions. However, this time was a disappointment to the point I wouldn't consider dining here again. The music level in the bar area was off the wall in volume. Why? No one was at the bar. First table promoted was in a service traffic pattern.. Requested another choice & this wasn't any better. To top it off the chef loves his salt shaker! I can't say I've ever dined anywhere where every item on the plate was far beyond enjoyable..."

  • "Large group of us decended on this gem in Flagstaff and tasted our way through the menu. Not an unhappy person in the bunch. Duck yummy, steak great, beet salad as fresh as could be. Loved it."

  • "I don't eat meat, but I do eat fish. My choices were sea bass at the highest price point on the menu ($36) or risotto ($18). I don't want to eat risotto every time I eat at Brix, and can't often afford a$36 entree plus wine plus salad, etc. Give those of us who don't eat meat another choice or two. It's a college town. My guess is you'd have plenty of takers."

  • "We loved our dinner at Brix. We were happy to find a restaurant that would be excellent in the Phoenix or Tucson dining scenes, but it's in Flagstaff. The hostess was helpful and friendly. Our waiter Dave was attentive, gave great recommendations, and added a lot to the experience. The foot was excellent. The shrimp and grits were a highlight - a really outstanding layering of flavors and textures. The salads were very good, and the Oregon seabass with gnocci was great. The deep fried strawberry bread pudding was a nice finish. It was overall a really good experience and we will definitely go back there next time we're in Flagstaff."

  • "Our son attends NAU in Flagstaff. Whenever we go to visit he asks us to take him to Brix. Really nice location. Very friendly staff. Wine list shows some unique selections from Colorado/CA. Fun to try something new. The menu presents fresh options from local sources. Very tasty. Recommended."

  • "The restaurant is a little treasure - the menu shows imaginative flair, the ambience is current and and service is spot on. Our mains were fabulous: my wife had the rib-eye with trumpet mushrooms; I had the glazed pork shank on a bed of risotto; both were presented with imaginative and exceptionally combined flavors. I had an issue with my risotto which I felt was too al dente for my tastes - it was replated with ancho chili pepper creamed grits, which I felt complemented the strong flavors of the shank even more than the risotto did. The home-made bread pudding with cherries and walnuts was a great way to end the evening."
