A word from Brittingham's Pub
A Progressive Public House... We believe in the idea of the "pub" mentality. Creating a "home away from home" for our guest and staff alike. We take the same mantra on in the experience we plan to deliver. That being said, we are taking it to the next level, with food and drink that doesn"t alienate and service and atmosphere that create a contemporary party! We are local, we are community, we are loyal and we are kind!Continued

  • "Both here and across the street have such great potential but they need to work on the food a little bit. I will say the food is better here but very salty and a limited menu. Bar scene is great."

  • "Everything was good except is was way too noisy. It was difficult to talk to the people we were with. We did not even stay for dessert and coffee because of the loudness."

  • "Nice casual menu, good food. Noise level on a Saturday night was unpleasant, and our table was so close to the bar in the main dining room, bar patrons were pretty much in our dining space. Will probably try it on a weeknight."

  • "Made rez via open table. Arrived and was seated quickly. They catered to my 2 year old quickly. Nice server. Quick service. I liked the noise level since my toddlers occasional outbursts just blended in :) Food was great. Fish and chips a hair greasy, but, authentic nonetheless. My wife's burger was awesome, and I longingly eyes my kids grilled cheese off the kids menu. Great spot. Nice renovations. Will be back time and time again."

  • "Had a delicious meal in the quieter bar area. Very nice place. Food and service were excellent."

  • "Although it is very noisy, possibly a good sign meaning it is busy, our server was wonderful and the food delicious. I would like to see them add one or two additional healthy options. They do have salads but I their chef seems very creative so I think he would be successful with this. One of our friends ordered the vegetable curry and did say it was much too spicy to finish. That said, the décor is lovely and homey. Please keep taking reservations!!!!!"

  • "Tried this restaurant out for the 1st time and was impressed with the atmosphere, but my meal was very disappointing. My husband ordered the Veggie Curry and was happy with it, but I ordered a basic salad and added 4 shrimp.... the total for the boring salad came to over $24!!! The lettuce with grapes in it and the no flavor dressing was upsetting enough, but then the cost was ridiculous. We wont be going back other than to grab a drink before going elsewhere for food."

  • "Crowded but fun. Tooooo noisie. Don't need loud speakers! Corn beef & cabbage was good."

  • "Made an open table reservation...we had the best seat in the house, in front of the fireplace and all went smooth throughout our stay. Our waitress Kim was very efficient and friendly. Our food was delivered hot, we all enjoyed our meals. We also had a front row seat listening to the Bogside Rogues. Yeah Brittingham's for a wonderful afternoon and evening."

  • "My first visit since the new owners and remodeling. Kudos to all. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Traditional Irish menu to celebrate w/ a few added surprises. I had the Reuban sandwich which was very good and I loved that it came w/ FF or a small salad. Tasty and nice size. I'm done w/ sandwiches that contain mounds of meat and hang off your plate. The kids liked the fried macaroni "donuts". The new decor is so much brighter and modern. We toured the new roof top deck and thoughts of Friday night date nights popped up for my daughter and her husband. My only complaint is lack of parking. I understand it was a special week-end but hope it is more accessible on regular weekends."

  • "We love the improvements to the building. The food was good but the minuet seemed limited. At great place to come with friends and see a good band. Hope they keep up the Irish music, beyond March"

  • "Lets just say alot of the reviews of the noise I saw earlier I thought applied to evening, but we were there late afternoon and the volume through the speakers was way TOO loud. Also was initially seated in a totally empty room right up against the kitchen door. Deviled Eggs and Mac and Cheese balls were not bad. Pork Belly Grilled Cheese was pretty fatty and the fries that came with them were WAY TOO salty. Fish and chips were the best part of the meal as was the brussels spouts. Rennovations are awesome and in the spring and summer it should be a great place to try. Did I forget to mention my wife had to eat her dinner with a coat on because it was cold in the restaurant. Many better choices in the area."

  • "I was disappointed that the old ambience is now gone from the place. OK food but the noise level was awful!"

  • "Food was good but noise level made it unenjoyable. Would not recommend for dinner especially when live music is there. Removation needed to take noise level into consideration."

  • "We had a second fun date night out at Brittinghams. We loved the noise because it was laughter and talk and people enjoying themselves. Fish and chips had fresh cod and delicious tartar sauce, great chips. The flatbread mushroom pizza was great. Beers were cold and delicious too. Lauren our server was attentive without hovering. Fun night out"

  • "We live nearby in Chestnut Hill and had been meaning to try Brittinghams - we're glad we did - the food was really outstanding. Very fresh, great flavors and no "chain" feel at all. Perfect for the whole family."

  • "This place was sooooo noisy. The food was incredibly spicy I had to send back my meal. Others at the table said theirs were spicy too. All the platters had too much sauce on it for the food. One dessert was stale the other overcooked on the outside, undercooked on the inside. The mushroom soup however was excellent. Even with that we will not be going back. Thought the new menu would be great but it was a disappointment."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "I met 3 friends for dinner here and we loved the remodel. Service was prompt and friendly. The TV Dinners were great, as were the ribs. The mushroom soup was not what was expected and was so-so as was the chicken pot pie. Portion sizes are what they should be - not typical American hanging-off-the-plate size. House vodka, Tito, was yummy - good deal. We had a fun night and will be back in warmer weather so we can check out the outdoor seating."

  • "Wow… this place is SO different than the "old Brittingham's! The whole restaurant was gutted and rebuilt and it looks GREAT! Instead of the dark, old "pub" look, it's a bright, open experience. Great job. The menu is different, too! The food was good (we both had the BBQ sandwich). And, by the way, the BBQ sauce is amazing! What we both noticed was the presentation of the food. The folding of the napkins under the cup, the steel cream container… great accents to the meal and we appreciated it. Oh, and the bathrooms were CLEAN! Thanks for that, too! :-) We'll be coming back real soon."

  • "I was looking forward to dining here with my family as I heard good reviews. What a disappointment! The service was awful - it took 45 minutes after we all arrived (our reservation was at 5:30 and by 5:45 we were all seated) before the waitress even took our order, and more than an hour for the food to arrive, which was mediocre at best. I do not recommend this place for anything more than a beer. It is a bar, primarily and should not be considered a restaurant, by any means."

  • "Food was the only thing that saves this place. Service was horrible, wait-staff is not friendly or attentive, they are more concerned with chatting amongst themselves then attending to paying customers. The mac & cheese fritters claim you're getting (5) on the menu... we only got 2... There are other places in Lafayette Hill I'd rather patron over this place."

  • "The new Brittinghams is a beautiful restaurant and will be great in the summertime for its outside decks. They the trying too hard with the menu - too eclectic while still pretending to be an Irish pub- as a result the food is average. It;s the kind of menu you look and and really don't want any of it. Our server was completely overwhelmed and abandoned us for about an hour. Because we enjoyed our company we didn't care until our drinks ran dry. All of that being said it's a hotspot and don't go on weekend without a reservation. Great potential here, they just need to decide who they are."

  • "On a recent Saturday night I visited Brittingham's for dinner for the first time since it reopened. I will not go again. First, it was so noisy I could not hear anyone at my table. Second, my food choice was disappointing, A sandwich with a fancy name turned out to be a steak sandwich without any steak. it was all bun and little meat. And it was $12.00. For the young bar scene, it looked terrific. Two different bars and lots of interaction."

  • "My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal there. The fare is upscale pub with a great variety. Really great beer selection and perfectly made cocktails. The waiter was very attentive without being intrusive. I loved the valet parking. We will be back."

  • "Had made a reservation for dinner with 4 of us.. but did ask for a particular room and didn't get it. But once we got there and found out , they took care of our request. Nice time had by all!!"

  • "While the ambience and staff is great, the food still has a way to go. The duck flatbread had no taste to it and the smoked chicken dish was marginal at best. Would try it again in a few months but for now - sit tight,"

  • "First time since it reopened. It was outstanding from the valet gentlemen who could not have been nicer, to the smiles upon entering, then there's the beautiful dining areas and bar. Our server, Nick, was fantastic. The food was awesome. Delicious and reasonable. I cannot wait to return. Heard it was crowded when it first opened, but things have settled down, and it was busy, but not too busy. Very impressed with the chef's presence and the owner's greetings."

  • "Loved everything including the TV Dinner entree served on a divided tray just like the old fashioned way. However, the noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation. Would prefer if one of the two rooms did not have a bar."

  • "Brittinghams has a really awkward lay-out w/ very active bars in all 3 dining areas. This created a volume level that made it tough to hear the other people at out table and the bar customers were standing next to our table which was really distracting. They have a well priced diverse menu and the food was tasty. They just need to work on creating a space that is for guests who want to enjoy a quieter dinner."

  • "We wish the lamb Irish stew was still on the menu fr the previous Brittinghams menu. The new Brittinghams was nicely remodeled. The food was good and we enjoyed it. We will be back"

  • "For anyone who frequented the former Brittingham's, this renovation is incredible. But it is just too noisy, so a larger group in the same dining room is really a distraction. That said, the service was excellent. Our server, Lauren, answered our questions about the menu and the renovations. The food came quickly and was very good. (We had burgers and sandwiches). Even the side salad was notable because it was fresh and you did not think it had been sitting in a bowl dripping with dressing. I look forward to going there when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy the outdoor seating."

  • "Hi, My significant other and myself last week during the week. The remodel is beautiful, beautiful ambience and interior. The noise level was very extreme and very hard to hear. Our waitress and other staff were very attentive. I was somewhat taken aback as our waitress kept touching my bf's arm and making a fuss over him and I felt ignored at times. But, I would say the wait staff was very attentive overall. I got the steak dinner which was very tender. We had mussels for appetizer which were average and many of them just had the shell. My boyfriend got the tv dinner and said it was somewhat dry. I would have liked to try the dessert but we were not asked and just presented with the bill."

  • "I went to lunch at the newly refurbished Brittingham's last Friday with my group of 6 girlfriends (we have a monthly "lunch club"). Although the wine list was small & VERY pricy, we ended up about $10 per head LESS for each girl! And that's w/a "few" bottles of wine, lunch & tip. And we all agreed: lunch was VERY good! I had the duck flatbread pizza, 2 ladies had the potpie biscuit (which was raved about!) &2 others had the ZLT. There was also a salad &fries at the table, and all were eaten! The restaurant was bright & charming. Lots of window & a not-too-hot fireplace. It all worked well. Our waiter couldn't have been more friendly! But he did disappear A LOT. Perhaps they were understaffed. Overall, we agreed: we would all go back!"

  • "They need to put a few good salads and some more healthy food on the menu. It is VERY limited. The drinks were good, great ambiance, but it could get VERY noisy. Beautiful job remodeling."
