Most upscale restaurants deliver good food, but Bristol is one of the few where I finished the meal and thought 'Wow'. The food doesn't just taste good, but does so in a way that seems more vibrant and exciting than a lot of upscale restaurants. The fresh fish selection changes daily, so if you're looking for something specific it might be good to call ahead and make sure that it is available. The waitstaff is very good - attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The ambiance is nice, with darker, romantic wood decor and tables and booths separated by glass (which also keeps the noise level down). Bristol is much more simple than that. You will get fresh food (seafood flown in twice a day from all over the world), & the chef WILL cook it perfectly. The only negative comment that I would have is that the bacon was NOT cooked. There were only about five pieces left and they were limp and rubbery. The staff accomodated us by giving us the room at the farthest back possible.
Also, I don't know if it was intentional, but they didn't put anyone esle back by us until towards the end, and it was a very quiet couple.
I appreciate this to no end. We enjoyed our supper with him thoroughly, and didn't have to scream to be understood.
