The operative word here is "lounge" -- don't expect a formal dining room setting. The tables are widely spaced, and the noise levels quite tolerable. We had a rather lackadaisical Sunday night waiter, but he was good enough, and we had a pleasant meal -- the food was first-rate. The place is expensive enough that, even though it's in a hotel, the likelihood of small children at dinner is relatively small. In short, what I wanted: a quiet place for dinner.

Back 7-10 years ago, I used to spend many leisurely Saturday and Sunday afternoons, lounging in the Bristol Lounge, on a comfy sofa, reading the paper and enjoying their gorgeous afternoon tea. Service was always polite, unhurried, accurate and friendly. This past Saturday when I invited 3 girlfriends and a new little one (6 months and v. well behaved) to meet me there. Our reservation was at 2:30pm, and I had requested a comfortable sofa with a view of the park, if possible. When I arrived, no mention was made of this special request and we were seated in a noisy room at the back of the restaurant. Our server told us that we wouldn't be allowed to order the high tea, because we hadn't noted that when making our reservation and the 'tea' spots were limited. I was saddened to hear that, since it was that experience I had spoken of so highly to my guests. We didn't see our server again for nearly a half hour after that. No drink order was taken, no run through of any specials. I think he was severely over-extended - but no explanation was ever offered. We asked once more about the tea service when he finally came back and he said he'd be able to get '2' afternoon teas for us- so, we assumed that meant 2 full tiered stands, with 2 pots of tea, plus additional pots of tea for the other 2 guests. We added in additional food orders to round out the selection and waited. When our food finally arrived 40 min later, no spoon was brought for soup - and only 2 cups and saucers and 2 pots of tea -for 4 people. We were given 1 tiered stand of afternoon tea cakes - 4 items on top, 6 small finger sandwiches, and 4 pastries on the bottom - $64 for that small amount of food. I had to get the extra cups and saucers for my guests- so that I could share the 2 pots of tea with them. We had to chase down a server to get more hot water. No one checked on us during our meal. It was utterly disappointing. I will not be back. Sadly, the bloom appears to be off this rose.

We arrived at the Bristol Lounge and they did not have our reservation from Open Table. The downstairs receptionist was arrogant and rude. She told us to wait at the crowed bar and maybe she would find something in the cafe which is not nearly as nice as the restaurant. The actual restaurant is actually up a flight of stairs. My boyfriend asked if we could go upstairs to see the restaurant. Upstairs there was another bar, not nearly as crowded and Ruth, the hostess upstairs, in the actual restaurant could not have been nicer. We were told that they would find us a table asap and we enjoyed a glass of wine at the upstairs bar where there was seating. The above stated, the restaurant is beautiful and the food was very good. We would go back again, hopefully without all the confusion.

The Four Seasons is my go-to four star restaurant! Out of this world food, outstanding service (even back when it was painfully aware I didn't dine at four star restaurants often) and beautiful atmosphere where you feel spoiled! I had the best swordfish I ever had, at my last visit. The brown butter and sage whipped potatoes melted in my mouth. So good! - Four stars for this foodie!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Bristol Lounge, very inviting with warm decor and comfy chairs. Even though they compete with more established steak houses, the NY strip was exceptional with marrow butter. Great blue crab soup to start, salads were way overpriced. Limited vegetarian options, though a solid wine list. Only complaint was the lukewarm temp of the wine, especially fine wines....should always be a crisp 55 degrees but not the case here. Service was good, if maybe a little indifferent. The cocktails were tasty though a bit weak. The cost for two people was over $250, so it's certainly not a good bargain.

I was very disappointed. We were given a table right next to the bar just before 5pm. It was quiet at the time so it didn't occur to me to move. It soon got so noisy that it was almost impossible to talk. Food was just ok. My salmon, while good, did not come with anything -- no vegetable, starch etc. For $38 you can put something else on the plate. Other food was just ok. Our appetizer dishes were left sitting on the table long after we had finished. In fact they didn't remove them until the dinners came out. I had asked for a birthday dessert to be prepared in my reservation but of course they had no idea so I had to ask about it. The cake was pretty stale. Everything should have been much better for what they charge.

The Bristol Lounge is an elegant and comfortable place to be. The quality of the food is very good, the swordfish was unique, and the service is friendly and adequate but slow. However, neither lives up to the cost. There are other restaurants in Boston that do live up to the price of their service (Grill 23, Sorelina, Mistral) but unfortunately, Bristol Lounge is not one of them.

Acclaimed burger was disappointing, especially given the price. Too dry. The crab chowder was superb. The waiter was excellent but the front of the house staff wasn't particularly gracious or helpful. We were told there was a 30 minute wait even though we had a reservation. The maitre de went "looking for an open table" but never came back. We found seating in the bar area. The waiter was superb, excellent in every way, attentive and patient, and displayed a good sense of humor.

The Bristol Lounge consistently delivers excellent service and food, but honestly the prices are too steep for what is being served! $21 for a caesar salad? $39 for three sea scallops? We live on Nantucket for the summer and are accustomed to "Island prices", but this was shocking to even us!

Great lounge to relax and enjoy a romantic evening in a luxurious and plush setting. The quality of the dessert buffet on Saturday was excellent and gourmet coffee to match. Unfortunately, the ice cream station needs better facilities to ensure the ice cream is kept at a cool enough temperature to prevent melting. Metal buckets in ice was not doing the job. Otherwise, a great late night treat with pleasant service.

I recently went to the Bristol for a birthday celebration and was very disappointed. This restaurant used to be a perfect 10 from the food to the service. However, I haven't been there in almost a year and things have obviously changed. The Bristol burger used to be amazing, but this time it was like a thin piece of cardboard. I ordered it medium rare, pink inside, and it came out well done. Every one had finished their meal by the time it was replaced. I could understand this if the restaurant was crowded, but there were only a few tables filled. The waiter did not ask if I wanted a refill of hot water for my tea, and he was not polite.

I was once a frequent guest of Bristol Lounge and found it a fun and dynamic destination. However this time I found the ambiance quite mediocre. The decor is blasé, furniture mundane. It felt a bit like a soap opera set. I had to convince myself I was in a Four Seasons Hotel. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the personality and warmth of our waiter.
