Great lounge to relax and enjoy a romantic evening in a luxurious and plush setting. The quality of the dessert buffet on Saturday was excellent and gourmet coffee to match. Unfortunately, the ice cream station needs better facilities to ensure the ice cream is kept at a cool enough temperature to prevent melting. Metal buckets in ice was not doing the job. Otherwise, a great late night treat with pleasant service.

  • What Happened to the Bristol?
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 8/6/2014
I recently went to the Bristol for a birthday celebration and was very disappointed. This restaurant used to be a perfect 10 from the food to the service. However, I haven't been there in almost a year and things have obviously changed. The Bristol burger used to be amazing, but this time it was like a thin piece of cardboard. I ordered it medium rare, pink inside, and it came out well done. Every one had finished their meal by the time it was replaced. I could understand this if the restaurant was crowded, but there were only a few tables filled. The waiter did not ask if I wanted a refill of hot water for my tea, and he was not polite.

The Bristol Burger was delicious - cooked perfectly, juicy and I liked that I could have it in lettuce instead of a roll. Service, as always, was outstanding and friendly. Bonus was I had lunch next to David Ortiz - WOW!

I was once a frequent guest of Bristol Lounge and found it a fun and dynamic destination. However this time I found the ambiance quite mediocre. The decor is blasé, furniture mundane. It felt a bit like a soap opera set. I had to convince myself I was in a Four Seasons Hotel. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the personality and warmth of our waiter.

The Bristol never disappoints. Food is imaginative, superbly prepared and presented. Meticulous attention to detail, right down to the lovely patterned Frette napkins, such a nice touch, other restaurants just use plain white or black napkins. The lobster sandwich with avocado was delicious, and the sweet potato fries were a refreshing change from the ordinary. Having dined there on many occasions, I wish they knew me better, but they strive to address customers by name, which is unique and special. Be prepared for a costly meal, but sometimes only the best will do!

This was our second visit to the Bristol Lounge. We had asked for a window seat and we were not disappointed. We had a great view of the Public Garden. I am a big open table fan but your better off calling this place for a table. When using this service you get the worst tables. When i call get the window or 1 row in. This time i was stuck in the center 3 rows from the widow even though many other tables closer to the window were open. It is a great place that i had my wedding reception at but was not happy at the way i was treated during my last visit

A bit disappointed in our dinner experience. Neither food nor service is at a level commensurate with the prices being charged. Entree was crispy halibut and although the plate was nicely decorated and arranged, the fish was bland. Server was pleasant but a bit rough we thought. This experience was below our prior visits several years ago - back when the high end restaurant was still operating upstairs (au du joie I believe). We had made note on our reservation that this was a special anniversary dinner, and that fact was clearly not known to the staff, as there was no welcome or congratulations regarding that matter. In a "high end" restaurant such as this I would expect the staff to at least acknowledge the occasion.

The prices make this a "special occasion" place for our family but we love to come here. The service is superb and the food is simply delicious. We love the Bristol Burger and several of us indulged in that delicacy on our last trip. The special however was soft shell crabs -- superb. Well worth a trip -- afterwards, take a beautiful stroll in the Public Garden or window shop on Newberry Street.

We have been to the Bristol on many occasions and this was with out a doubt the most disappointing experience. We were with friends who had not eaten at Bristol before and we had been raving about the food. All meals were equally poor in quality, the service was less than adequate with multiple requests for the same items, served items that did not include the full order and we left knowing that we would not return.

Years ago, the Bristol Lounge was an airy, well run and enjoyable retreat from city life. The current decor is no better than the Motel 6 on the Interstate in Indiana (dark wood tones with Las Vegas carpets), service has lost it's crisp, friendly but professional air that Four Season's are renowned for and the food was somewhat better than average but the price points are much above average. The views over the public garden remain spectacular but why eat here when there are so many other welcoming venues in town. Please update this wonderful space and find the lost art of welcome among the staff.

Meals are pricey. If you order fish or steak that is all you get for the price. Sides are all an extra price. I got a prime steak and that is all I got for $52. I ordered cheesy, garlic mashed potatoes for a side and that was $9 more. The food was good not exceptional. The atmosphere was great. Tables were not too close together which made it nice. You were not eating on top of another party. It was fairly quiet so that you could have a comfortable conversation with out yelling or straining to hear. Dessert was interesting. We ordered the Tower which was very impressive. It was more than enough for our table of 4. It could easily have been enough for 6.

We had a very nice, although pricey, dinner which for the most part was just as expected. We had a great table facing the park, good food (although the short ribs fell a little short), nice expensive wine and great atmosphere. The biggest issue I had with the evening was that our server was terrible. No personality, not particularly nice, not very inviting or informative and barely checked on us. It really ruined the evening. Why would such a well-renowned restaurant employ someone like this? Had we had a better server, especially for a special occasion, which the restaurant knew about, I would have rated it higher. I don't think restaurants realize the importance of good service - reputation doesn't always hold them up!

Trying to find a nice dinner at the last minute before going to the Colonial up the street. Bristol Lounge in the Four Seasons was a lucky find. The martinis were great. The food was great. The view of the Garden was a nice treat. And the walk to the theater was short. Service was timely; our waiter paid attention to the time and got our bill to us without us having to chase him. It's not an inexpensive place to eat. But we don't go to the theater every week. One downer: asked for a window but they wouldn't give one to us but we were a couple and it was set for four. But NO ONE sat there all the time we were eating. It was still untouched when we were leaving.

When my office was in Back Bay, I was at the Bristol Lounge once a week. The bar staff was always friendly, the whiskey was a steak house pour, which it should be for $12. And the ambiance was pleasant, not a meat market bar scene. A mixture of local business people and well heeled tourists engaging in conversation. Lately, I get there only once a quarter. It is still delightful, the staff very attentive. One of my group noticed that her cell phone had died, and she only had the usb cord. The wait staff noticed this and took care of it. It always seems that they can never do enough. It is that high level of service that keep me coming back, along with the food and wine list
