Diner Reviews
  • "A solid though unspectacular dinner that came quickly in an environment good for kids. A step up from the California Pizza Kitchen's of the world. Friendly, welcoming staff. Will go again."

  • "While packed tightly, the food and service were great and when the crowd thinned out the wait staff were amusing."

  • "Nice service with great appetizers but the seafood pasta I had did not have very fresh seafood. The pasta, however, was lovely and the tomato sauce was fine. It is great for meeting a group of people there!"

  • "It was quite a warm afternoon and upon arriving at restaurant we asked the waiter if they could turn on the air; the air was turned on for 15 minutes then shut off. The manager was sitting in a table next to us and did not move a finger to accomodate us. Service was super slow and the restaurant was nearly empty (it was the first dinner service - 5pm). The bread came after 20 minutes of being seated. Pasta was OK, nothing to write home about AND much too pricey for what it was. 2 entress & 1 soda $70! "

  • "Pasta was good; chicken and sausage dish very good, salad was fair. A better grade of balsamic vinegar would have made it better"

  • "Cute neighborhood spot with well intentioned servers but completely forgettable food. Burrata special was neither impressive nor prepared traditionally. Nice staff, enjoyed the outdoor tables, would go again if I were in the area looking for a nice grown up place to have a drink and conversation, but not for the food. "

  • "Our dinner was delicious, the service was gentle and kind, they accept an order later than the kitchen was close in a very good mood! The focaccia is a MUST!"

  • "Brio is a terrific Upper East Side New York restaurant. We both had fish - salmon and branzino. The portions were very generous. They have a very nice wine list. A great neighborhood find. "

  • "Really tastes exactly like Italy...new menu does not include our favorite pizza! The pesto Genoese! We asked if could still be requested off menu and were told no! I even went beyond the waiter to the chef. This is disappointing but otherwise all is exceptional and we love Brio!"

  • "You know a place is good when you prefer business lunches with people in the area solely as an excuse to go to the restaurant. Hopefully no one notices the pattern and just thinks I'm willing to eat near them! Brio has a stable of classics I've been enjoying for decades but always seems to be tempting me with a new possible favorite. If you can't decide, the Pollo Rustico is near perfection..."

  • "We had a great time at Brio. Pizza was delicious and the suggested wine was incredible! Service impeccable, nice atmosphere. will be back next time in NY."

  • "Coming to NYC on business for many years, this find was a pleasant surprise. The food portions and quality were superb! The place is small and intimate, with tables quite close together, so a romantic get-away is best had somewhere else. But for superb Italian food and a really nice, if shortish, wine list, give Brio a try or two. Well worth it!"

  • "The space is currently under construction so they didn't have any of their signature pizzas available. Food was good, took a client for lunch. Busy place led to servers being a bit under attentive but still incredibly nice. Food was good over all, my guests enjoyed their dishes but the sauce for my ravioli was a little under seasoned and overly heavy handed with the cream. Would go back for lunch to entertain clients,."

  • "Brio specials are great, better than menu items as the chefs put more effort and creativity into preparing them."

  • "To be fair they were dealing with constrcution which wiped out well over 60% of the space. That said being harassed throughout the day to confirm the reservation was unnecessary as I was still made to wait for 10 minutes upon arrival…Host was not friendly at all. Bartender comped a drink at the bar which saved us from leaving. Once seated our waiter was very nice and helpful. We were craving their pizza though that was also not avail due to construction. Might have been nice to tell us that prior to seating or the many calls for confirmation!Their specials of the day more than made up for that. I am sure these guys will be back in fighting shape after construction."

  • "A pleasant enough dinner for four with a nice wine discovery from Sardinia, but we had to wait for 40 minutes to be seated despite a reservation. Service was very friendly but rather frantic and slow to take our orders.; our waiter brought a second bottle quickly but did not open it right away. Except for the table by the window (which we were given) tables are jammed together in a narrow space that does not make life easy for the waiters, who as noted are impeccably good-humored."

  • "Resteraunt partially closed due to construction/remodeling; food was average; my niece and I each ordered ice tea and had a refill. Upon receiving my bill, I was both surprised and dismayed to see that I had been charged for 4 ice teas (the price of an entree!) no mention was made of additional charges. My friend who has lived and dined in New York for 20+ years assured me I was right to assume free ice tea refills. Ice tea is my beverage of choice. Thoughout the U.S., free refills are commonplace. I paid my bill leaving only a 15% tip and a notation on the receipt saying it was "Tacky" that ice tea refills were not free. Also, Brio failed to verify my OT reservation. I pursued it not only for the points but so I could fill out a review"

  • "We always dine at this Brio location after shopping ('til we drop) at Bloomingdales. Although we made a reservation, we had to wait for well over a half hour due to renovation. What a scene!! Only the back room open, crowded, noisy, only a few tables since there also was a large group of about 20. And there was NO PIZZA ! However, the pastas were very good as usual and we look forward to returning once the 61st side renovation is complete."

  • "After making a reservation on open table, upon arrival, we were told there was a wait because the "other room was closed for renovations". While waiting our RED wine was served ice cold!! 10 minutes after we arrived we saw the owner hugging and talking with another couple who loudly announced they didn't have a reservation. We waited for 40 minutes at the bar Despite the fact that the owner was told, in front of us, by the bartender and a server that we were there first and had a reservation, the owner preceded to seat his friends ahead of us!!! Apparently only friends who probably eat for practically free are worth it! The owner let us leave without hesitation without even trying to redeem himself. DO NOT COME HERE!!! NOT WORTH IT!!!!"

  • "What a lovely restaurant. Two of our diners have gluten allergies, and the staff could not have been more considerate with food preparation. Courteous service, reasonable prices, delicious food for all course offerings.."

  • "Just outside the hub of the midtown office scene but within close proximity makes Brio a great spot for a meeting or business lunch. Food was very good and service attentive. A real gem of a place!"

  • "I (we) have been visiting Brio on 61st for at least 14 years, and I think even 18 years. The food is consistently delicious and fresh. A great selection of traditional Italian with some newer choices as well. Pizza al pesto genovese is simply manna from heaven - thin and crispy crust, fresh mozzarella, simple sauce and fresh basil pine nut pesto. Tasty salads with fresh (again) crisp lettuces, great dressings, and delicious toppings. If you like fish, Brio always has a great special to try, and the regular selection is impeccable as well. If you have never visited, it's a gem on the upper east side, and in the spring/summer/fall you can sit just outside on 61st. The wait staff and management are quick, polite, and knowledgeable. Great spot!"

  • "A wonderful neighborhood gem. We arrived in NY late in the evening, and stopped in for a "bite." The calamari was fantastic, as was rhe caprese salad. Attentive service and an energetic atmosphere provided a lovely place for our late dinner."

  • "Bit like a cafe so don't go there if you want a special occasion. Food and service excellent and would recommend it for a relaxed lunch or dinner Nowhere to hang your coat was a bit annoying"
