Atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. The service was great, cocktails were incredible and the food was ok, but nothing to write home about. We found it difficult to really enjoy the food as there was a large fruit fly issue in the back dining room that kind of put a damper on the experience as we found ourselves swatting the flies away from the food and sifting them out of our drinks more than being able to enjoy what we ordered. Not really sure if it's the restaurants fault or if it's just fruit fly season. Nonetheless, the place has a lot of potential and we would come back again for a happy hour.

I had a wonderful dinner - my friend and I tried about 6 different dishes and every one of them were beyond my expectations. And to top it off, I met the owner, told her how much I enjoyed the experience and ask here where else in Seattle I should eat. She was so gracious and gave me about 10 different places to try. But of course, I will be back here on my next trip to Seattle.

We spent a long weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary, and kicked things off right with dinner at B&H. Very good food expertly prepared and presented with a smile. Drinks list is special as well. While we miss Le Gourmand, B&H, with it's noticeable influence from Joule and Revel, is juast as suitable a neighborhood hang out as well as a destination for those outside the Greenwood/Ballard circle.

It's not often that I go to a restaurant and try EVERYTHING on the menu, but for my recent meal at B&H, I nearly did! Then again, when the chef tells me everything is good, I guess I felt compelled to try everything! Interesting appetizers, amazing bread, fresh and intriguing vegetables, succulent seafood and a simply savory selection of meats. The line-up of cocktails and other libations is pretty remarkable too! I would dine here very often, lest the fact that I live 2000 miles away. Regardless, I will be back!

Great food, great service, very nice atmosphere. This restaurant is so popular, and rightfully so, that we now need to make reservations when just a few short months ago we could walk in with no waiting. The owner and staff make a point of knowing us and engaging in short conversations each visit which makes us feel quite at home and very welcome. We make a point of having dinner there at least once per month. My favorite dish has been the fresh salmon, lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly. The same goes for the other fish, beef, and pork dishes. Their seasonal vegetable dishes are unique and delightful as are the desserts.

Went on a Friday night and sat in the attractive dining room. The food was very good, but the menu is fairly small and it's expensive. The 8 oz. entree sizes we're often over $30. I think if you eat on the patio and just get smaller plates it could be fine. Also this dining room is not "energetic" as Open Table calls it, it was loud. Loud like it was hard to have a conversation.

I've said this before: We eat at all the outstanding restaurants in Seattle, and Brimmer & Heeltap is our favorite. Superb food - especially great with a group of 4 or 6 where a large number of the small plates can be shared. Great cocktails. Excellent service - lightweight and friendly. Wonderful atmosphere: from hipsters on dates to parents with kids to old fogies like us (we went as parents with kids, but our kids are in their 30's). The owner is always there, always warm. Particularly not to be missed: steak tartare, chilled dungeness crab trifle, seasonal scallops (currently), broiled pork shoulder. This place is a treasure.

This is a place to relax ,chill and not be in a hurry. Some amazing food combinations and flavor profiles.Maybe nor everything is your favourite but it's the adventure of trying. My daughter does not like salmon or beans but had the legume salad and salmon special because she knew it would be worth it and the plates were clean, really clean when you use the bread to get every little bit of sauce. So sit back and savour the experience.

Everything is appealing on the brief-ish menu and we enjoyed the steak tartare with house made nori crackers, the healthy, tasty grilled salad and the pork shoulder with apples given the kimchee treatment. Jen is a gracious, expert hostess in the front of the house. Our friendly server gave us just the right amount of attentiveness and good advice on how much to order. We like that wines by the glass are also available in a carafe, about a half bottle's worth. We came on a warm evening. They don't have AC but with doors open and effective fans, it was comfortable.

When you walk in, the place is stunning. Extremely well decorated, open, clean. Definitely they put love into building the place. Had a 5:45 reservation. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty and only half the patio was also empty. I asked to sit outside, and they said no, since you needed to be a party of at least 3. I understand that. But when you are EMPTY, that just doesn't sit well with me. t. The menu was weak and limited. Had 3 dishes. Steak tartar -> under seasoned. Tuna -> was a little fishy and over cooked. We left after that and headed over to another place in Fremont and had a much better night after going to a better establishment where they had their stuff together. Would not return or recommend.

I had high hopes for this restaurant when I walked in the entrance because of the cute decor and ambiance. However, the rest of the evening consisted of slow service and mediocre food compared to other Seattle restaurants in this price range. I would return for a drink on the outdoor patio, but that's about it.

Small neighborhood restaurant with sophisticated foodie type choices. The menu is varied but limited. You can order a small or large plates of most items. Items are meant to be shared. Portions are small but we felt full after the meal. The asparagus dish was exceptional, fish was excellent, entree pork was good but overcooked and the Key Lime Tart was among the best I have had. The strawberry shortcake was average at best. The shortcake was nice but not enough ice cream to make it much more than eating plain cake with berries on it. The small bar was packed early on a Saturday night and looked like fun. Hostess was awesome but server was just ok....I felt like he may have been new.

We had a great meal here. Love the 'small plates' concept, and that all plates are set to share. The chef obviously has some very creative ideas in matching foods. We sat outdoors; despite the fact that the restaurant is small, we felt like we had our own space. Staff was excellent - checked in frequently without feeling intrusive. Definitely worth a try!

The pork with kimchi apples was overcooked to dry. The waitress argued with me about the wine and it was challenging to get to and from the restroom due to a design flaw: located at a busy intersection with a doorway and a wait service center. Also noisy. Way too much noise for a small space like this. The beets were excellent but I can't see returning for just one dish.

I have procrastinated going here since the previous tenant closed its doors but I was pleasantly surprised. Sambar was my favorite bar in town, had the best cocktails and best frites not to mention the most lovely space and decor with access to a dreamy gravel patio. In my opinion, Brimmer and Heeltap does not disappoint. It carries on the tradition of enjoying delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere with good friends, often.

While we were initially worried about the limited menu, we loved everything we ordered. OMG. This place is incredible. Although we live just 10 blocks from here, we never made it to the previous restaurant, Le Gourmand. But B & H is something to experience. We shared a beet and fennel dish, the English peas with crème fraiche, the pork shoulder with kimchi apples, and of course, a slice of the Texas-sized bread. Don't eat it all in one bite, although you'll want to. Use it to sop up the perfect sauces that come with the plates. We sat in the penny room, but all 3 rooms (patio included here) have a different ambience and are equally charming. We've already reserved for next week to share it with a friend. One more thing...we finished with the key lime tart, topped with coconut whipped cream and lime slivers. Need I say more?

A terrific & pretty little restaurant serving a menu of unique and delicious plates, designed to be shared (& that is the best way to experience this menu) but can also be enjoyed as single portion plates. The menu changes frequently but if you visit soon, be sure to get the pork shoulder with green apple kimchi and the asparagus plates-yum! Everything was delicious (& we indulged in sampling almost the entire menu) & the service was friendly & attentive without hovering. Bonus for those with special diets-much of the menu is gluten & dairy free (though the bread & butter, simple as that sounds, is SO good you don't want to forget to order that too). B&H is definitely worth a trip to Ballard!

We made our 5:30 reservation during beautiful weather; they're always kind enough to wait for the 15 minutes around your time. You can sit close to the bar, where the expert mixology happens - or the patio. We chose the middle, the best of both worlds. The layout is so open and airy, the atmosphere so welcoming, it's feels like a second home. Always take the servers' recommendations on the cocktail. The strawberry rhubarb concoction we were served, called the Speckled Brain, is nowhere on the menu, but they're always willing to make. At three fingers thick, the toasted and salted bread appetizer doesn't mess around, either. They know their portions on the delectable entrees. You can't go wrong on any of them.

Another great Ballard restaurant to add to the neighborhood! Great decor, ambiance and food/drink. It was a particularly hot evening and the restaurant was hot wish we'd opted to sit outside but otherwise we really enjoyed ourselves. We ordered family style and had the asparagus (not to be missed), beet salad, salmon and pork dish, which was the lease favorite due to lack of flavor and somewhat fatty meat. Our server went missing or got distracted after our table was cleared so we didn't see our check for a good 15 mins after we had finished up. Otherwise everyone was pleasant and the food was really good. I would definitely go back.
