Eclectic, shareable and generous offerings. Interesting on first taste but ultimately not particularly satisfying to us. Nice attentive waitstaff. The dining room is small but seemed fine. The back room, where we dined, is an unappealing space reminiscent of a shopping mall restaurant. I'd guess this space is best for groups rather than intimate dining.

Our first visit and we were very pleased! Cute place with a nice comfortable feel! Steak tartar was excellent as were the corn bread coutons with raspberry ketchup! Shared the roasted peppers which were very good along with the salmon, excellent, and the steak which had very good flavor but a little chewy! Will definitely return and hope the pork shoulder is still on the menu; the couple next to us said it was great!!

The food is interesting, delicious, not precious, with an ever changing menu. Cute, cozy bar and a nice warm atmosphere and ambiance. The owner is there most evenings and adds to the charm of the place. Just a great place to hang out, eat great food and be in a neighborhood spot. Go there!

Very creative and tasty dishes. Love the oyster shooters, and the chocolate/marshmallow cake was fabulous. If you are a meat-lover, this place is for you. The roasted pork was perfect. I'd like a few more choices for side dishes, though. We had roasted peppers, which came out about 15 minutes before the meat - which was just meat essentially. A good experience, but I hope they expand their menu a bit. I hear they do some different late-might food, which I want to try.

I was excited to finally go here as we were turned away during the busy opening week. I booked via OpenTable and received confirmation, but when we got there they had no record of my reservation(?). Thankfully it wasn't an issue and we were seated right away. For a slow Monday night the service was slow. Our beef tartar app was great to start, but ordering the main course was a bit odd. The special baffled the whole table "black cod with pork, mussels" and bunch of other stuff. We had to ask our waitress to repeat several times to understand that it was one dish. Food was just okay- a bit odd in the presentation. Service was not up to snuff. Maybe an off night?

We loved the food. It was innovative, well portioned. (Read: not too large.) The fusion gastro/Asian went down perfectly with my well crafted cocktails. They were seasonally perfect and delicious. For example the steak tartare with nori cracker. Divine! The drawback? We ordered the special which happened to be tenderloin. It was supposed to be cooked med-rare. Perfect for me! Had it been med-rare, five stars all around! But instead I got a blue steak. No thanks... Back to the grill. Hence three stars. We'll go back, just to see if chef has figured out the nuances of the grill.

I've been here a dozen times - twice this week. The food is superb. The cocktails are superb. The service is superb. The owner is omnipresent and is a joy. The waitstaff are diverse but uniformly terrific - most recently I sat at the bar with an off-duty waitress and had a great conversation. This is a neighborhood gem that people should visit from all over the city. But please don't!

This was a nice stop with a pleasant atmosphere; it was too cold for us to sit outside, although we saw another couple on the very cute patio. Space was tight, but in a mostly cozy way. The food was tasty and fun -- a little bit different from standard. I only wish the menu were slightly broader, but wouldn't take that at the expense of quality. Waitstaff and hostess were attentive and rounded out the experience.

We enjoyed sitting out in the outdoor area on a sunny Seattle evening and having cocktails. The service was excellent. The food was a treat - grilled sweet peppers, a perfectly prepared cod and a very tender duck leg. The chocolate torte was stupendous. Will definitely go back.

I was so excited to try Brimmer & Heeltap but was immensely disappointed. The restaurant looks very hip and Seattle swanky upon first arriving, but you quickly realize that you cannot hear yourself think. I am hoarse today from trying to talk to my friend over the crazy echoing acoustics. I also found the menu to be limited and boring -- nothing jumped out as sounding great. It was one of those situations where I kept re-reading the menu hoping I'd stumble on something better that I was missing. Unfortunately, with the exception of the seasonal veggies, the dishes we chose were terrible. Blah peppers, pork shoulder like chewing gum, inedible albacore tuna. Pretty big bummer all around -- just can't recommend this spot even a little.

Second time dinning here. Really liked it the first time but the (small) menu changed and liked it less this time around. Most dishes are creative and well executed, but not all. Case in point, I am not sure what they were thinking with the shrimp cocktail appetizer. We tried it because surely there must be a twist on this, but sadly there wasn't (8 shrimps for $29). Our favorite was the pork shoulder. The smoked duck was great too but the large size (2 legs) was too small to share between 4 diners (everything is meant to be shared). The Albacore tuna has a strong flavor and is not for everyone. Service was slow and we got a table right by the front door even though we had reservations. It gets very loud in there too.

The service, ambiance and bar were great. The food however... The oxtail was overcooked and over salted. Not sure what the chef was going for on the tuna crust, it really distracted from the fish, which was average at best. The sweet peppers were, again, overcooked - a mushy preparation better suited for an assisted living facility. Your mileage may vary.

The redecorated dining area and bar is open and light, with very nice touches all around, makes you feel comfortable. The bread isn't just bread it is something that must be tried the flavors were fantastic. We had the Shrimp Cocktail with Hoisin sauce which was a delightful change in cocktail sauce. The Pork with Kimchi Apples is another must try, pork was flavorful and cooked to perfection, don't ignore the apples by saying you don't care for Kimchi, they are addictive. The duck was also moist and flavorful. We finished off with the pound cake and spice ice cream, the pound cake was moist and delicious. Over all a very good experience and a must try for a newer restaurant in town.

After last minute search, I came with my family for my Birthday. With an early reservation, the ambiance was relaxed, great timing with the service, and no issues with noise level. I love the simple and sweet white washed style of decor, very inviting. Thoroughly enjoyed the bread appetizer, the steak tartare, the pork shoulder, the mackerel and the roasted peppers. My only complaint might be that the server seemed a bit aloof and not sure how to facilitate our indecisive group. Nonetheless, we ended up with a great meal and a fun evening.

Warm, inviting initial welcome. Nice vibe. Good: tri-tip with spicy peppers, perfect spice! Duck: exceptional, crisp, tender, hot. Roasted mackerel: tender, deliciously salty. Steak tartare: intriguing, lively flavors (we fought over the last bite). Tamarind salad: fresh, tasty. Bread: crusty, buttery. Ugly: piled grayish, roasted sweet peppers seeds in. Cold, stale croutons, strange strawberry catsup. Blah, smores-ish dessert billed as torte. Bad: Me "Tell me about this dish?" Server "It says right there." Menus list food; servers flavor it with description. Didn't happen. In a place like this, I expect descriptions of dishes as they're served. Nope. We like tipping well. Service improved, but not enough to satisfy, as the tip reflected.

One of the best new places I have tried in a very long time! What a great dinner. 1st time there the atmosphere made me feel completely comfortable and relaxed when I walked in. Clean simple decor. The menu was small, but in my opinion, I prefer that over a menu that gives me pages of options. There were plenty of options for our group of 5 ranging from vegan to us carnivores. Do a few things and do them exceptionally well, and that is what they do here! The quality and creativity were just outstanding! The freshness of farm to table clearly comes thru. The legumes were incredible! The drink menu was just as creative as the food! I will be sure to make this a place I frequent on a regular basis!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Brimmer & Heeltap last weekend and had a wonderful experience. We sat outside in their comfortable garden, which I'd highly recommend trying while the weather is still cooperative. Their small servings are perfect for 2 to share, and everything we sampled was excellent. The mizuna salad, braised pork shoulder, and chocolate tort were particularly delicious. The setting is great, the service spot-on, and the food is fantastic. Can't wait to return!

B&H really does the Seattle restaurant right. It's got the high-end interesting and tasty food that Seattle foodies have come to expect. The inside is really cute with interesting layout, fun color pallet, exposed kitchen, and a floor made entirely of pennies! The service was impeccably supplied by the cutest server imaginable (everyone at our table agreed). She was very knowledgeable, attentive, and personable, without being overbearing at all. Fantastic experience, will definitely go again (and again). Get the tuna!

Staff were great, cocktails were delicious and interesting, the bread starter was outstanding. I would give the restaurant 5 stars, except that one of my dishes - the pork - was extremely tough and chewy; I couldn't finish it. Every fourth piece or so was delicious but the majority was like leather. That said, I'd still go back. You can order dishes in small plates, which were big enough to serve as moderate main courses as opposed to some "family style sharing plates" that are tiny. The ambiance was lively but not too loud. We were a group of 30-somethings out for a birthday celebration and we really enjoyed.

We were seated at a table by the window, but it was hot and loud, and got much louder as more people arrived. The crab trifle was delightful, flavors and textures contrasted nicely. The vegetable dishes were okay, not very memorable but not bad. Drinks pretty much the same. The bread was good but it was a surprise to receive a single large oven-roasted slice, would have been nice to be told in advance, this was more like garlic bread style. Both our meat dishes were disappointingly dry and so similarly and heavily spiced that we couldn't tell the difference between the pork shoulder and the grass-fed beef. It's a creative place so it'll likely improve, but all 4 of us were not impressed and probably won't go back given the price we paid.

Atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. The service was great, cocktails were incredible and the food was ok, but nothing to write home about. We found it difficult to really enjoy the food as there was a large fruit fly issue in the back dining room that kind of put a damper on the experience as we found ourselves swatting the flies away from the food and sifting them out of our drinks more than being able to enjoy what we ordered. Not really sure if it's the restaurants fault or if it's just fruit fly season. Nonetheless, the place has a lot of potential and we would come back again for a happy hour.

It's not often that I go to a restaurant and try EVERYTHING on the menu, but for my recent meal at B&H, I nearly did! Then again, when the chef tells me everything is good, I guess I felt compelled to try everything! Interesting appetizers, amazing bread, fresh and intriguing vegetables, succulent seafood and a simply savory selection of meats. The line-up of cocktails and other libations is pretty remarkable too! I would dine here very often, lest the fact that I live 2000 miles away. Regardless, I will be back!

Great food, great service, very nice atmosphere. This restaurant is so popular, and rightfully so, that we now need to make reservations when just a few short months ago we could walk in with no waiting. The owner and staff make a point of knowing us and engaging in short conversations each visit which makes us feel quite at home and very welcome. We make a point of having dinner there at least once per month. My favorite dish has been the fresh salmon, lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly. The same goes for the other fish, beef, and pork dishes. Their seasonal vegetable dishes are unique and delightful as are the desserts.
