A word from Brigantine Point Loma
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few.

Beautifully remodeled in early 2009, the Brigantine is well-known for the signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée. The Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.

Home to the America's Cup until 1995, Shelter Island is still the yachting center of San Diego. The Brigantine offers glimpses of this busy marina from the outdoor patio and semi-private banquet areas.

The Point Loma Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, and lunch Monday-Saturday. Join us for our signature Happy Hour.

Brigantine has a great seasonal menu going on that has some outstanding Fall flavors. We had the Seared Scallops with butternut squash, mushrooms, and brussel sprouts...as well as the Braised Short Ribs. For a special treat try the "Spicy Pumpkin Margarita". All excellent.

We were the first to try to Seafood for Two. It proved to be exciting, super fresh and wonderful. With drinks, salads, soup, a second round of drinks, and mud pie for desert the tab was only $84.00. The wife says this is her new favorite place. We have been regulars at the Brigantine in La Mesa since the Top Shelf sold to them. Well the drive to Shelter Island was against traffic at 5:00 p.m. and took just ten minutes. Hah! Uber. You will have a fine time.

Went to brunch here this Sunday and last with old friends. Both times it was quiet and we could easily hear each other. The brunch area was not full so we were free to linger after eating and continue catching up. We chose bottomless champagne and the waiters kept our glasses full. The food was delicious and yet both times we had to take home leftovers. The view of the boats is scenic San Diego. I kinda hate to share this secret gem.

I took my husband here to celebrate our 25th and wish I hadn't wasted my money. Although our waiter was great the food was mediocre at best. It simply is NOT worth the money. On top of it all the girls who work the front are two of the rudest people we have come across in quite some time. We were very disappointed.

Brigantine is never a disappointment. Reservation was at 6PM, so there was a lot of noise, etc. especially from the bar area. I ordered swordfish, but received Ahi--both good, but preferred what I ordered. Server was gracious and offered to return it, but service was already a bit slow, so didn't want to push it. We had 2 guests with us and it was their first time--they enjoyed it.

We arrived at 5:30 pm for an early dinner before the crowd arrived. We were seated next to the window looking out to Shelter Island Drive. The ambiance in that room was very pleasant. When I visited the restroom later however, I was glad we didn't sit near the restroom. That room would have been too crowded and noisy for me. So unless you like that, ask for a table away from the restrooms. The service and food though were very good, and overall you can't go wrong here.

We've been to the Brig many times, but they have some new, really tasty things on their menu. The Shrimp and Grits was fantastic with 3 HUGE shrimp and grits with chorizo. Really yummy! The pan seared ahi was delish and the spinach salad is a big one and one of the best in San Diego! A little noisy in the restaurant but otherwise, no complaints!

We've been dining here regularly ever since our Humphrey's Concert days - more than 15 years now. Now "The Brig" is our meeting spot for "dinner with grown daughters" several times a year whenever we are in Point Loma. Service is always consistently excellent - the training of wait staff and management shows. Food consistently well prepared and presented. We love dining on the balcony in the ocean breezes. -- Terry and Ann -- Borrego Springs, CA

For a fine dining experience, we were disappointed. For the money, we felt we could be in a better ambiance. They had a 3 course $30 meal; the price was right, but I thought the combinations were so-so, and ordered off the regular menu. Dinner was OK, but for the same money, there a lot of other, nicer choices out there.

Everything at this place was very bland, the drinks were mediocre, the shrimp and lobster was over cooked and dry and the tomatoes were spoiled. My off-menu vegetarian dish was counted as several separate sides, and apparently, "grilled vegetables" means "steamed frozen vegetables". It seems this place has never heard of seasoning, i wouldn't recommend for anyone to go to this place.

As a out-of-towner, we all decided a great seafood dinner was important. Previously, my husband and myself had wandered into Brigantine for happy hour, enjoyed the oyster bar and many other items, along with delicious beers. This occasion, we went for dinner and all the seafood was really perfect! Our waiter was attentive and informative, the staff timed to pick up just right and overall, not one negative comment was heard from anyone. A wonderful dinner and we shall return when we are in town! Thank you!

We looked forward to a great evening with great food. The appetizer arrived after the salads and soup. We expected it first. The cream brulle was great. I ordered an after-dinner coffee drink but she would not serve it as they had run out of regular coffee and only had decafe. It was fun sitting out doors but I had to ask to have my water filled and my dad had to ask to have his ice tea refilled. I would of thought the servers would check on us more often.

This Brigantine continues to be our favorite. The renovation done over the past years has transformed not only the ambience, but also the attitude of the staff and maybe even the food... While the chowder could still use more identifiable clams (I think they chop them too small) it tastes great. The local halibut done as beer battered fish and chips is perfect. Usually the fish tacos are on order, and I am sure they are still great, this time we had a Burger and it was perfect. The Brig's own chardonnay is just fine and priced right.

Been to several of the Brigentine restaurants and this by far is the best. The location for a concert (Ringo and His All Starr Band) at Humphrey's was perfect. We had reservations for 6pm. Arrived a little early and were accommodated right then. It allowed us to take our time before taking the ten minute walk over to the concert. The staff was excellent and our waiter was very professional and had a lot of great suggestions off of the menu for us. As stated above, we will be back.

We had a lovely dining experience. We had to walk around the building to find the elevator (my mother-in-law had just had knee surgery) and then had to call for the elevator but were greeted by two lovely hostesses and guided through the kitchen (a peek behind the scenes - so clean!) and to our table. Our server, Tanner, was excellent and knowledgeable making recommendations and answering all of our queries. Our order consisted of chowder (tasty - thick, with hints of bacon!), side salad (fresh and delicious), the half lobster and crab Cobb, and the seafood bouillabaisse (rave reviews). The only complaint was that the lobster and crab with the Cobb was a little watery and tasteless - though the rest of that salad was excellent!

We arrived about 15 minutes late for our reservation, but there was no problem seating us. No water views here. A bit surprised by that. I had the swordfish (thin sliced and a bit dry) and was a bit disappointed. My friend from Seattle, ate the encrusted halibut and that was terrific. A nice thick slice of fish was served over potato. Taking a sea-foodie out in San Diego was a tough choice. I'm glad I got the least tasty of the fish orders and he enjoyed his. Veggies were crisp and tasty, a bit too much salt for me, but I don't use it, so I can taste it when it's part of the spice palette. The house chardonnay was good. The dark bread and garlic butter was super. Service was fantastic and a good tip reflected that. We'd dine there again.
