My husband and I used to go to the Brigantine La Mesa often but do to finances hadn't been in awhile. Our server was a little short with us when we inquired about the menu which she said they changed about 8 months ago. Wow were we ever disappointed. They no longer offer the twin lobster tails it's now Maine lobster which neither of us likes. We started with appetizers, I ordered the shrimp cocktail which was very good but that had also changed a bit, my husband got the calamari which was good. For my meal I ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon which was very good other then missing the lobster tail next to it which would have made it even better. My husband ordered some shrimp dish with grits and chorizo which he enjoyed. So the food was good but really would have liked it if the lobster tails were still on the menu. Our server could have been a little nicer. We will go back again just not as often as we used to.

Arrived a bit earlier than our reservation, but were able to be seated right away. We were given ample opportunity to review the menu and our server, Tom was able to give an excellent explanation of anything on the menu. Tom was attentive but not overly. Although we ordered off the early bird special menu, the amount and quality of the food was ample. At the end of the meal Tom honored me with a birthday candle in my desert that was included in the 3 course meal and packaged up the "birthday treat" to take home, that would normally be presented with a regular meal.

I have been here numerous times with my family and friends. It is always a great experience. This last visit was no different. We were seated right away, outside as requested. Our server come over quickly and took our drink orders. Our food was served without too much delay and everything was delicious. Our waiter kept coming by making sure we had everything we needed. Will always go back.

Once again I chose to celebrate my birthday by dining at the Brigantine The service was excellent and food was great as always. Several other diners near by were also celebrating their birthdays so I guess we all know something. Easy reservations were made online and they were ready for us when we arrived. This is a family birthday tradition for my husband and myself. It also includes our wedding anniversary the day after Christmas.

Our service was awesome. We had a three member business dinner meeting and requested a quieter spot which the restaurant accommodated. I had the beef rib diner which was excellent. The others had Salmon which was so so they said, however, in all fairness they are healthy eaters and had it prepared their way instead of the chefs way. I highly recommend the Brigantine La Mesa. We will return.

I have been to this restaurant before and had a much better experience. First of all, I indicated on "Open Table" that we were celebrating a birthday. When we checked in we were assured that our server would be told that we were celebrating a birthday. That was never done. The service was extremely slow. Their "brunch" menu was limited and not impressive. The bus boys need to be trained serving etiquette. At one point, one of them reached over a person who was eating to grab and fill a water glass on the opposite side of the table instead of walking over to that other side of the table. Then there was a big hassle about splitting the bill in half. Doesn't seem difficult to take a total and divide by two.

The Brigantine is a local institution and never disappoints. They did a menu re-fresh and it's quite good. They have generous cocktail and wine pours and the service is spot on. We had a simple grilled salmon on top of sautéed kale, bacon, and onions...and cornbread. We started with mussels. Very good stuff. This is not stuffy food...just well cooked basics that are comforting and satisfying. Our server was great. We eat here on special occasions and always have a good time. We live in the College Area, so this is a convenient alternative to downtown. Check it out!

The service was outstanding - Deanna was our waitress and she gave great menu advice. The food was excellent - I've been to probably every Brig in the County and it's always top notch. It's pricey - $180+tip for 4 (4 entrees, 2 wine/2 cocktails, no appetizers, split 2 salads). The restaurant itself is looking a little long in the tooth, but it's right down the street so at least I don't have to drive to the beach.

I always order fish here because it is always so good. I had the macadamia crusted-halibut which was excellent, as usual. The swordfish is a favorite too, and always on the menu. I usually have baked potato, which I am so happy they serve here. It isn't on the menu but they always have them. I chose the rice pilaf for a change, which was what came with the halibut. I didn't care for it much - it was ok at best. You can also get grilled asparagus rather than the usual vegetables, which was also very good.

I've been for lunch - it was great. Paid $100 for 2 for dinner w/o drinks, and was disappointed. The lobster was flavorless. Had the seafood combo - heavily battered with a touch chewey-like rubbery batter. I left the fish and mashed potatoes that was in the combo due to both poor texture and flavor.
