A word from Brigantine Coronado
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received numerous accolades during our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish & Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks & grilled meats.

A favorite destination for locals & tourists alike, the Coronado Brigantine is located in the heart of the village, immediately adjacent to the historic Hotel Del Coronado.

Completely remodeled in 2005, the "new" Coronado Brigantine is an elegant adaptation of its former self. The addition of an intimate private dining room, a surround-seating bar and street-side outdoor patio have been equally well-received.

The Coronado Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, as well as lunch Monday-Saturday.

Diner Reviews
  • "Our dinner at the Brigantine was, in a word, wonderful. The Brigantine is always a safe bet for a great meal and they didn't disappoint this time either. Every dish from appetizer to dessert was very well prepared and tasty. The service was also great - both front of the house and waitstaff. We had a very enjoyable time with our out-of-town guests."

  • "We went with our girls (3 & 7). Since our arrival we felt welcomed and were tended to appropriately. They enjoyed the food and the coloring pages. Husband and I greatly enjoyed the food and the service. We will definitely visit again."

  • "Enjoyed this restaurant while visiting Coronado Island with friends from out of town. Beautiful setting - right near the Coronado Hotel. Happy Hour prices made us real happy and the food was delicious too. Their sister restaurant, Miguel's is a real winner too. We ate there in Oceanside."

  • "We brought two dear friends for dinner. They were delighted with the experience, food, service, etc. My wife and I were pleased to been able to treat them to an enjoyable dinner and evening. The service and presentation were excellent as always. I am very fond of the ship models and nautical ambience."

  • "Did Brigantine is always one of the family favorites. The food is excellent especially the seafood. Their are brown bread is better than any other bread in the San Diego area."

  • "My wife and I had steak. Mine was fine, but it took two more times to get it right for my wife."

  • "We were a party of five and all agreed the food was wonderful! The younger couple wanted to bring the other set of parents to visit also. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The food was well prepared and presented. One of the better restaurants we have visited in the area!"

  • "My husband and I found this restaurant on a whim online. It was delicious! We were surrounded by loud people all around, but on another night, it would have been quite romantic. They had many different seafood options to chose from, which was a nice change from our usual New Mexico fare. It's a little on the pricey side; our meal including a beer, a glass of sangria, calamari to share, and two entrees was over $70. However, it is well worth the money. We would definitely go again!"

  • "Food and service were excellent. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very attentive with the Mimosa refills!"

  • "We stopped here on Coronado island for post-beach dinner. The decor was throw back to old school seafood restaurant, but a little dark and brooding for a lovely beach day. The food was good but not overwhelmingly so - generally what you might expect from a chain (even if its local) restaurant."

  • "We had dinner with one of my sons and had a great meal. We had some really great fish and chips and he had stuffed shrimp. Both really good."

  • "Love Coronado and this is by far one of the best restaurants I've been to in the San Diego area. The food was outstanding. From the bread, to the salads, to the main course. Everything was exceptional. The atmosphere in the place is really cool, without being overly fancy. It's a casual setting. We were seated at a booth which was nicely secluded. We made reservations and I would recommend doing so because when we got there just before eight the place was packed and there was a wait. However we were seated promptly and our food and service were top notch. Our server was exceptional and I am the type of person who truly appreciates good service when I'm in a restaurant. Considering where we were I felt the prices were very reasonable. A+"

  • "This was recommended to us by friends, and we had a great meal. The interior is a bit dated, but it works! Feels very authentic to the area (across from the Del Coronado). Our food was tasty, and there was a good kids menu. Our whole family enjoyed the meal. Service started out very strong and got a little slow at the end, but overall it was a fun night and we will return the next time we are in the area."

  • "The food was fair, not great but reasonably priced. Service was inattentive and distracted. It is very popular, so others must not have the same experience I had."

  • "Had a nice dinner on the patio overlooking Orange Street. Swordfish tacos are great."

  • "The food was tasty. They had a great dinner special if you arrived before 6:30. It included starter, entree and dessert with many choices. It was a quiet setting so you could hear each others conversation."

  • "We had a great dinner. We both had chicken on the First Catch Menu. Both were really great and we had more than enough to eat."

  • "Personally, I prefer the Brig in Del Mar, only because it's got a prettier atmosphere and view. Having said that, the reason I love the Brig so much is because I can always count on an amazing meal and good service. They never rush you and I have never had any room to complain about the service nor the food. I tried the fish tacos this time around (mostly I always choose steak here) and it was delicious! Couple that with a very lovely wine list and good company and you have the perfect dinner out. Seriously, if you want to have a great dinner and conversation, hit up either of the Brig restaurants. It's my San Diego go to place!"

  • "We dined here for my husband's birthday while visiitng San Diego. The service was the best that we've had in a while and the food was delicious. The chowder was great and we both ordered fish dishes which were great. I loved that we got a little private booth to ourselves. I would highly recommend this establishment and i would definitely go back!"

  • "Food, service, ambiance all was great. Only negative, the parking. The restaurant has very limited parking and Coronado is a nightmare parking city. Parking cost 16.00. Brigantine awesome. Coronado parking situation horrible."

  • "This time we brought our best friends with us to celebrate Valentine's Day. The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star in everything is that our server didn't include all the uneaten food (left out J's coleslaw) that we wanted to take home with us. Otherwise, it was a perfect evening."

  • "We celebrated our 35th VALENTINE's DAY WEDDING anniversary at this restaurant. The FOOD and SERVICE were outstanding. It was our first (upon the recommendation of a friend) and it will NOT be our LAST visit. We are looking forward to a return lunch or dinner!"

  • "I always visit one of the Brigantine restaurant locations when in San Diego. Huge fan of the signature dish, marinated swordfish. First time at this one on Coronado, with all-around fine and friendly service, the outstanding swordfish, and my wife reported excellent on her bacon-wrapped stuffed prawns. Liked the idea of having the little booths, but too much spotlight on ours, and other booth conversations carried surprisingly into our hearing which was more distracting than expected. Not perfect, but we'll return again."

  • "Small, private, neighborhood restaurant. Great find!"

  • "The restaurant was softly lit, bright enough you could still see everything clearly but dim enough so it gave the entire place a very calm and low key kind of atmosphere. The waitress was very prompt and helpful, she greeted us right away, was able to tell me what a "sand dab" was, and gave recommendations for her favorite dishes. I took her recommendation and ordered the Brigantine Swordfish which was cooked perfectly, good texture but not too dry. The menu was priced very well, there were a range of options so even if you're on a budget, you could still afford to enjoy some of the lovely local seafood."

  • "I took my date here and we both enjoyed the seafood. The server was made good recommendations for wine, appetizers, and food. He was attentive and nice. We both had swordfish dishes since that's their specialty. The meat came out perfect and the avocado butter on top was delicious."

  • "Pleasant Setting. Quiet Area For Conversation. Server Pleasant, Congenial, Knowledgeable."

  • "A very busy night, we waited about 15 minutes in the tiny, busy lobby for our table. Service was efficient and a pleasant atmosphere. We got a free appetizer sampler - some ahi tuna which was quite good, a delicious crab cake, and what turned out to be calimari steak fingers - not recognizable as calimari. I had grilled swordfish which was ok - a little dry and a square piece. My partner had soft shelled crabs, which turned out to be deep fried such that you couldn't taste what crab there was and they were mushy. Having eaten soft shell crabs in Maryland, we were surprised by these. Also, not indicated as fried on the menu. Overall, the food was not as good as we had been told. We would certainly spend good money in a better place."
