A word from Brigantine Coronado
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received numerous accolades during our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish & Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks & grilled meats.

A favorite destination for locals & tourists alike, the Coronado Brigantine is located in the heart of the village, immediately adjacent to the historic Hotel Del Coronado.

Completely remodeled in 2005, the "new" Coronado Brigantine is an elegant adaptation of its former self. The addition of an intimate private dining room, a surround-seating bar and street-side outdoor patio have been equally well-received.

The Coronado Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, as well as lunch Monday-Saturday.

We love the Brigantine! We sat outside and watched the crowds go by while enjoying a fine meal for my birthday! I had the Ahi and it was done to perfection. Our waiter reminded us of the delicious gratis dessert (mud pie) that was my birthday reward. The fact that we had forgotten about it made it all the more enjoyable! You will not be disappointed at the Brigantine!

We were staying nearby and a friend recommended Brigantine to us, and it was great! It's not a hip/modern place but an old school joint with solid food and service. We ordered the crab & shrimp fondue to share and it was diabolical...SO delicious! I had the special wild caught sockeye salmon, which was very, very good! There's not much that's better than fresh sockeye! Yum! The hubs had swordfish and also loved his. The Brig Lemon Drop, I think it was called, was incredible! A few of those could get a gal in trouble...ha! We will be back for sure.

Every time we stay at the Hotel Del Coronado, we walk across the street to dine at The Brigantine Coronado at least once! The food is delicious, the fish is fresh, the service attentive and friendly, and you can eat outside on the patio (facing the Del) or inside. We love it and not only dined there twice, but met some friends on the street and recommended they try the Brigantine for lunch. Just looked on Facebook and they not only tried it, but loved it! It's a wonderful place.

I had friends travel by train, then ferry, to visit me in my new home. So, I wanted to find someplace special for our lunch. Brigantine came highly recommended, and it did not dissapoint! I enjoyed fresh oysters (and was so pleased that you can order just one or two if that's all you want). We then shared the crab & shrimp fondue and some onion rings. DELICIOUS! Superberb service and free parking rounded out a wonderful experience!

The only disapointment was in the lack of top shelf whiskey. If you're not looking to add that to your experience, then the Brigatine moves from Very Good to Outstanding. The food was attractively presented, fairly priced, and delicious. The cheesecake was noteworthy. The service was good, and our waitress was funny and helpful. I took my lady friend there for a date, and I recommend it for special evenings. The booths were private, but not isolated, and kept the noise level down. The bar was nice in passing, but that's all I can say about that. Very good start to our night! I will be going back.

Friendly staff and nice location. The menu had recently changed and it was a bit dissapointing. The crab cake appetizer was very good but the entres themselves left something to be desired. The swordfish was not cooked very well and the sides were very un noteworthy. I had high hopes and overall not a bad restraunt, just not a really good one. Perhaps other menu items were the real deal. Had hoped for more.

I have eaten here a number of times, and have had great food most of the time. This time they were real busy, and some of the food came out overcooked or cold (sitting under heat lamps, bad timing on delivery). I had the seafood boullaibaise, and all of the seafood items were tough, and the soup was mediocre. Your best bet is the seafood platter, it always seems to be good. The mud pie is great for dessert.

The Coronado Brigantine has a menu with so many varieties, especially if you love seafood, that everyone will leave there pleased and satisfied. We tried 3 kinds of oysters, salad, burger, and grilled seafood, and everything was delicious. The recommended wine was right on, and the price reasonable. You can count on quality and consistency with all their dishes. We've been dining there for over 30 years.

My family recently went the Brigantine Coronado to celebrate Father's Day. Shortly after we arrived we were seated in the beautiful dining area. We were promptly greeted by our waitress who was very helpful and accommodating. The entire meal was excellent and we highly recommend the Brigantine's Mud Pie. It was the best dessert we have ever had! This was our second visit to a Brigantine location this year. The other location in North County was also very pleasant. Love the location of the Coronado restaurant and will definitely be back for future events.

I ran dinner houses for a number of years and this young server was so out of their element it was rather shocking. Not only didn't they know their menu, they never checked back after the food was dropped. The lack of attention by our server made this a "we won't be back night". By the way, freshen up the menu and get some actual fresh fish.

A recent visit to San Diego brought us to Coronado and after reading great reviews we opted to try this quaint seafood restaurant. We enjoyed a very good meal. I was expecting more. Firstly I went online to see the dinner menu specifically for the Coronado location and I picked dinner because I wanted scallops and there were none on the lunch menu. Online there were at least two choices for large sea scallops with a choice of two sides. Upon entering the menu and being seated, it became obvious that the menu was different than online. Our waitress was nice but did not say what the catch of the day was or let us know about any specials. I had to ask. Then they gave us about one minute to decide. For 25.00 I got 3 medium size scallops with no sides. It was not much food for the price. A bit overpriced for a chain restaurant with no view.

  • New Menu Missing Favorites

In addition to generally good selections, there were two favorites that consistently drew us to return to the Brig over the past many years. Their Mussels in wine broth and their pork ribs (yes, ribs at a seafood place!). Well as of June 2014, these are both gone - the mussels have been replaced with a version with coconut broth and although prepared well did not satisfy my taste. The ribs are just gone! Big disappointment for me and my family - we used to visit every time we came to Coronado (at least 10 times a year). But unless they are returned to the menu, I'm afraid we will have ribs and mussels at other fine Coronado area restaurants. My request: Please bring them back!

We started with the mussels. The menu online listed the traditional garlic/butter preparation, which I do not care for. When I got there, the actual menu listed a spicy preparation with chorizo, etc. and that sounded great. So we ordered the mussels, but they came with the "old" prep, not what was listed on the menu. Also, 3 or 4 of the mussels were closed. I had the lobster/crab cobb salad. It was fine, nothing to write home about. My boyfriend ordered the bouillibase which the waiter said was new to the menu. He said it tasted very bland just like the seafood had been boiled in water. The bread was very basic/boring. My boyfriend had the coco mojito which was really yummy but had basically no alcohol in it.
