A word from Brigantine Coronado
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received numerous accolades during our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish & Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks & grilled meats.

A favorite destination for locals & tourists alike, the Coronado Brigantine is located in the heart of the village, immediately adjacent to the historic Hotel Del Coronado.

Completely remodeled in 2005, the "new" Coronado Brigantine is an elegant adaptation of its former self. The addition of an intimate private dining room, a surround-seating bar and street-side outdoor patio have been equally well-received.

The Coronado Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, as well as lunch Monday-Saturday.

Diner Reviews
  • "Had a good dinner with family. Service was a little slow, but restaurant was very busy. Food is very reliable, biggest complaint was lack of parking nearby as restaurant lot is very small."

  • "Went for dinner.... we were sat quickly. That was good. Server was horrible. Server was not to be seen. Server never came by to check on us. Server seemed disinterested...."

  • "service way too long food ok nothing exceptional typical sunday night meal"

  • "Wait staff seems young and inexperienced. We went our entire meal without anyone clearing used dishes and empty cocktail glasses. Food was ok, nothing special."

  • "This restaurant (The Brig) is the finest in Coronado, maybe even all of San Diego. Food selection, quality and diversity is amazing. Service is very good."

  • "This was my dad's favorite restaurant years ago and is my husband's current favorite! The fish is beautifully and deliciously prepared and I love to see the historic photos of Coronado. Highly recommended!"

  • "The only disapointment was in the lack of top shelf whiskey. If you're not looking to add that to your experience, then the Brigatine moves from Very Good to Outstanding. The food was attractively presented, fairly priced, and delicious. The cheesecake was noteworthy. The service was good, and our waitress was funny and helpful. I took my lady friend there for a date, and I recommend it for special evenings. The booths were private, but not isolated, and kept the noise level down. The bar was nice in passing, but that's all I can say about that. Very good start to our night! I will be going back."

  • "Have been eating at Brigantine Coronado every time when in San Diego. It's always excellent food and value. Haven't had anything bad. Sand dabs are my favorite and my daughter has swordfish or halibut. Their crab cake is heavenly. Service is friendly and wonderful. You can't go wrong here...excellent meal!"

  • "I am familiar with Brigantine restaurant but this one is far behind the quality I am used to. Very small table for 4! Glasses unclean! Food was just OK!"

  • "Friendly staff and nice location. The menu had recently changed and it was a bit dissapointing. The crab cake appetizer was very good but the entres themselves left something to be desired. The swordfish was not cooked very well and the sides were very un noteworthy. I had high hopes and overall not a bad restraunt, just not a really good one. Perhaps other menu items were the real deal. Had hoped for more."

  • "I have eaten here a number of times, and have had great food most of the time. This time they were real busy, and some of the food came out overcooked or cold (sitting under heat lamps, bad timing on delivery). I had the seafood boullaibaise, and all of the seafood items were tough, and the soup was mediocre. Your best bet is the seafood platter, it always seems to be good. The mud pie is great for dessert."

  • "Went on a weekday for dinner & it was great. Menu had an excellent array of choices. Servers were very attentive yet didn't interrupt your conversations."

  • "Enjoyed the meal, but not the meeting that was being conducted by the six people next to us. Very loud and at dinner hour."

  • "The Coronado Brigantine has a menu with so many varieties, especially if you love seafood, that everyone will leave there pleased and satisfied. We tried 3 kinds of oysters, salad, burger, and grilled seafood, and everything was delicious. The recommended wine was right on, and the price reasonable. You can count on quality and consistency with all their dishes. We've been dining there for over 30 years."

  • "Cosistently good. Not necessarily great but almost always very good."

  • "My family recently went the Brigantine Coronado to celebrate Father's Day. Shortly after we arrived we were seated in the beautiful dining area. We were promptly greeted by our waitress who was very helpful and accommodating. The entire meal was excellent and we highly recommend the Brigantine's Mud Pie. It was the best dessert we have ever had! This was our second visit to a Brigantine location this year. The other location in North County was also very pleasant. Love the location of the Coronado restaurant and will definitely be back for future events."

  • "I ran dinner houses for a number of years and this young server was so out of their element it was rather shocking. Not only didn't they know their menu, they never checked back after the food was dropped. The lack of attention by our server made this a "we won't be back night". By the way, freshen up the menu and get some actual fresh fish."

  • "A recent visit to San Diego brought us to Coronado and after reading great reviews we opted to try this quaint seafood restaurant. We enjoyed a very good meal. The kitchen was happy to accommodate special requests and modifications to entrees. The service was very good and the environment was very enjoyable - numerous smaller alcoves provided a nice private experience."

  • "I was expecting more. Firstly I went online to see the dinner menu specifically for the Coronado location and I picked dinner because I wanted scallops and there were none on the lunch menu. Online there were at least two choices for large sea scallops with a choice of two sides. Upon entering the menu and being seated, it became obvious that the menu was different than online. Our waitress was nice but did not say what the catch of the day was or let us know about any specials. I had to ask. Then they gave us about one minute to decide. For 25.00 I got 3 medium size scallops with no sides. It was not much food for the price. A bit overpriced for a chain restaurant with no view."

  • "In addition to generally good selections, there were two favorites that consistently drew us to return to the Brig over the past many years. Their Mussels in wine broth and their pork ribs (yes, ribs at a seafood place!). Well as of June 2014, these are both gone - the mussels have been replaced with a version with coconut broth and although prepared well did not satisfy my taste. The ribs are just gone! Big disappointment for me and my family - we used to visit every time we came to Coronado (at least 10 times a year). But unless they are returned to the menu, I'm afraid we will have ribs and mussels at other fine Coronado area restaurants. My request: Please bring them back!"

  • "We started with the mussels. The menu online listed the traditional garlic/butter preparation, which I do not care for. When I got there, the actual menu listed a spicy preparation with chorizo, etc. and that sounded great. So we ordered the mussels, but they came with the "old" prep, not what was listed on the menu. Also, 3 or 4 of the mussels were closed. I had the lobster/crab cobb salad. It was fine, nothing to write home about. My boyfriend ordered the bouillibase which the waiter said was new to the menu. He said it tasted very bland just like the seafood had been boiled in water. The bread was very basic/boring. My boyfriend had the coco mojito which was really yummy but had basically no alcohol in it."

  • "The fondue and oysters are exquisite and the fish is paoched perfectly."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "We came just before they were changing their menu and getting rid of a few items. We liked that they had so many choices of what to eat. The cioppino was nothing to write home about for me. The scallop dish (they are taking this off the menu) was excellent. The fondue appetizer was also wonderful and rich."

  • "Our dinner at Brigantine was a special evening. The service, food and ambience made it a memorable occasion. If you are vacationing on Coronado, then you have to go to the Brigantine. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Great food, service can be hit or miss. I've dined here in the past with great service. This particular visit was so-so service. It was fine but nothing notable. But the food was as enjoyable as ever with delicious Blue Points. "

  • "This was our first time at the Brig in Coronado although we had been to the one at Del Mar. Very enjoyable experience with very good food. Recommend getting the seafood as long as you are right there by the ocean and it is very fresh."

  • "We were in town to attend a conference.....searched for seafood restaurants.....incredible food, attentive wait staff, already looking forward to our next visit. Will definitely eat there on any future trips to San Diego or Coronado. We also appreciated the small parking lot next to the restaurant. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone that asks for dining suggestions when in the area. "

  • "We have been coming to the Bragatine Restaurant for over 25 to 30 years. One of our favorite spots when vacationing in San Diego. Good service and the waiter was excellent. Very attentive and accomidating. Food was great and I have to say I have never had a bad meal at the Bragatine. Best regards for a wonderful dinner."

  • "I have been a big fan of another Brigantine family restaurant, Miguel's for about 25 years. My expectations were high for this Coronado icon and I was disappointed. I ordered the scallop special ($25) and found the four scallops to be undercooked and the rest of the dish not very good. My wife had the Mexican shrimp which were just ok. Two of our party ordered fish and chips which were excellent. Overall the cost ($144 with tip) and the experience will encourage me to choose another restaurant."

  • "We were going t the play at the Coronado Playhouse and picked the Brigantine for a relaxed dinner before the play; it was the perfect choice. The ambiance, the food, the service were exceptional and to beat it all---it was affordable! Two of us had the ribs and two had the scallops Rockefeller; both were great. Also the rice pilaf and the coleslaw were delicious. The menu had many choices that we look forward to trying the next time we are in Coronado. I would highly recommend the Brigantine!"

  • "We love this location. The staff was great and the food wonderful. We enjoyed the way the location meets many of our needs. Please do not remodel this location to a fast food restaurant like Escondido. We enjoyed a super dinner with great food and will return as often as we can. Thank you again for an excellent experience."

  • "My friend and I were looking for a nice quiet spot to have some seafood and be able to talk. This is the place with choices that we both like and an atmosphere that lends itself to discussion with having to shout even with an active bar scene next to us. "

  • "Food was truly mediocre ,mine "swordfish was served at room temp ,veggies overlooked ,wine was excellent and reasonably priced."

  • "Although it was Easter, I did not notice the restaurant was busier than usual so I was a little surprised at the poor service. We had to ask for our food, wait for refills and waited a long time to get the final bill. I was also disappointed that your website did not mention the standard Early Bird menu would not be available on Easter. Your "special" Easter menu was not what I expected. I like the Brigantine and will eat at your restaurant again but can not rate this experience as favorable."

  • "Had a nice brunch at the Coronado Brig on Easter--had been here for happy hour a few times (love the bar setting), but first time eating in the restaurant. Food was very good, lots of kids around so it was probably a bit noisier than usual but still very enjoyable."
