  • "My family decided to go to Bridge House Tavern after renting a boat on the river. It was lunch, and we requested to sit outside. The owner happen to be there and made arrangements for our party of 6 +1 infant to see outside, looking over the river. The service was terrific, the food was well received and reasonable for the area! Definitely returning- great spot!"

  • "Great beer list. I had the shrimp cocktail, which was amazing. Turtle cheesecake for dessert as TOO DIE FOR! My server was fantastic as well. Made great suggestions and was just the right amount of attentive!!!"

  • "We sat right on the water and the food was delicious. However, they need better waiters. The one we had could have cared less about us and when food was delivered the bus boys slapped it on the table and our waiter didn't even look at us when we asked a question. Need to up the class level of employees."

  • "Gotta try the popcorn. Gets you ready for the rest of the delicious food. Great view, great food and service. Having a reservation helps."

  • "A great location, attentive service but very limited menu."

  • "No exaggeration, some of the best food in River North. From simple dishes like the bread & butter (wanted to eat the butter with a spoon!) to the classic, perfect 1/2 chicken, everything was divine. Top choice: the kale cassoulet. Also the cheese platter was a great value! I couldn't believe how much came with it! If you're looking for an impressive meal that doesn't break the bank, this is it! Also, the inside ambiance is GREAT so don't worry about getting a table outside."

  • "A last minute decision to enjoy Sunday brunch away from the busy Michigan Ave brought us here. It couldn't have been a better 4-6 block walk west. The view was great along the river, almost being able to touch boats and kayakers. The service was great and the mood was casual. My corned beef hash with poached egg was fantastic and my wife enjoyed her omelet. We would have returned but had to return home shortly after enjoying ourselves there."

  • "Food and service were fantastic! Arrive early if you want a good spot on the patio (first come first serve). Views and great and nice breeze off the water."

  • "Two of us at dinner. Hoping for outside table but were not given good guidance by hostess so sat inside. Menu not big enough."

  • "The service was pretty poor here both times I have been here in the last couple days. Food is great though."

  • "Appetizer selection was solid and better than most bars; sandwich selection was very good and quality the same; a little light on the main course choices. There was a lack of healthier food options, although understandable, for a bar."

  • "It was rainy the day we went, so we couldn't sit outside--which is arguably the best part of this restaurant! one of the few Chicago places right on the river with a water view. the burgers were huge and flavorful; fries were well-seasoned. salad was average. our server rushed us because the kitchen was closing, and wasn't incredibly pleasant. however, i should note that they didn't rush us to leave the restaurant after finishing our meal. overall, food is fine but you go to BHT to sit by the water."

  • "Your hostess was very accommodating to a last minute change in our group size. We had visitors in from out of town and they absolutely loved dining at your restaurant. We had the perfect table overlooking the river! The food was excellent. The cheese tray and pretzel appetizers were outstanding and the presentation was great! Our visitors will remember this experience forever."

  • "I was really surprised to have such poor service at Bridge House Tavern last weekend. I was entertaining my sister and niece and wanted to wow them with a great view and what I have previously found to be excellent food and service. We arrived and they wouldn't seat us outside. They claimed to be tracking a storm, but it never rained. There were also several open tables outside. The server made us feel very rushed even though there was only one other table inside. He forgot drinks and then when he brought the forgotten wine, it was a half pour. I was just really disappointed. Won't go back anytime soon."

  • "Ate here recently after taking a boat tour on the river. Right on the river with great views. Sat outside with a group of 6 on busy Saturday. Very good service & good size portions. Can't beat $5 mimosas and bloody marys on Sat & Sun."

  • "Great spot if you want good food and a nice view, for a relatively low cost. We had a group of 7 and the accidated us nicely. Would definitely go back. Bruschetta and green bean tempura were awesome!"

  • "The service and view are top notch. However, the food is unimaginably bad. I mean really bad."

  • "We ate here this past week, going for the view of the river and to try the food. The view was fine except for all the construction of the new river walk on the opposite side. The manager spoke with us several times and the the waiter was very efficient. We split the pork/shrimp tacos and also the BLT sandwich. Both were very good although a little spicy which seems to be a theme her. Also, the bacon is REALLY thick cut and the ciabatta roll was heated so it was a little on the hard side for my taste. Did not have dessert."

  • "Food and drinks are great, could not ask for a better experience dining right on the river. I would recommend highly to anyone"

  • "The view was great, the service was friendly, but oh god what gross food. The steak was terrible to look at, and don't get me started on how it tasted. I felt so bad because I was treating someone for her birthday, and I treated her to an awful meal. The dessert was a mess too."

  • "Service, food and the ambiance were great. 1/2 price bottles of wine on Thursday's and 1/2 off all oysters everyday between 2-5 make this place a gem. Beautiful river front tables make this a perfect summer lunch spot."

  • "We only had appetizers, the spicy chicken avocado rolls are fantastic! I would go back just for these. We had outdoor seating which was nice, but the Chicago river "aroma" is less than desirable."

  • "Made the reservation with OpenTable - others on the site had said that the reservation didn't guarantee outdoor seating, so I was a little worried about waiting for 45 minutes on an already late reservation for a Saturday night. No need for my fears though, the server took our reservation even though we showed up 20 minutes early to the restaurant and took us outside to the patio right away. The views of the Chicago River were basically the reason my friend and I wanted to eat there, and it was well worth it (we got to see the sun set over the river while we ate!). The server was friendly and accommodating, making virgin drinks for the under-21's, made good menu recommendations. Food was amazing, we left full and happy."

  • "This is the second time we have gone here when we've come into town and it was excellent. Although they don't have a kids menu my kids ordered the pasta & fish & chips. They also have a grilled cheese. All delicious!"

  • "Reservations don't matter if you wish to sit outside. Just be forewarned that if you arrive and want to sit outside, you will be placed on the wait list as if you never bothered to make a reservation. Makes Open Table kind of a moot point, doesn't it? Also, server kept referring to a guest who had not arrived yet, as our "joiner." And when our "joiner" arrived, the host desk had no idea who we were even though she gave our reservation name. I think service training is in order. Other than that, Server was friendly. Server was also very knowledgeable about menu. Observed floor manager walk through dining room and loudly ask, "Does anyone know who that new busser is?" Classy, right? Food was great! Place was hopping and very loud."

  • "Marguerite, our server, was great. But this is not a place for groups larger than 4, if you want to dine on the patio. Not accommodating at all. Food is average"

  • "This is not my typical restaurant choice but I meet every few months with a group of friends and the birthday friend wanted to try something along the river. I enjoyed our visit very much. We usually eat very healthy options but we were all in the mood for comfort food. The standout for me was the (healthy) sunflower salad. I also enjoyed the popcorn with honey, jalapenos and ham. Due to the construction across the river, the view wasn't as pretty as it would have been but we enjoyed the boats passing by and on a Tuesday night didn't find the noise from the boats intrusive. We sat at the eastern end of their outside seating and the noise level was minimal. I was very pleasantly surprised and will bring out of town guests there."

  • "Not impress at all they could do better with the great view of the Chicago river. food wasn't the best and service either need more improvement this place but have good potential to be a great brunch place."

  • "Found this casual spot on the water with great food, service and views. The staff was friendly and also bent over backwards as they knew we were pressed for time.. You cannot go wrong with Bridge House Tavern."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "The service was very good and the one appetizers we had was out of this world. However, there were party boats, or tour boats going by every few minutes that were so loud you has to stop conversation and basically became the main attraction. We ordered a Cosmo and a dirty martini and neither if these very basic of drinks was good and the menu was very limited and pricey. We ended up eating our appetizer, which was excellent, and left to find better meal options and ambiance."

  • "The food was good, nothing to ride home about. But the outdoor seating along the river was fantastic! A cozy spot I'll definitely be coming back to. The only downside was that it was a windy night so our menus flew away a few times, but no big deal!"

  • "Concierge at the Radisson Blu Aqua told us there was nothing on the Riverwalk. Well, was he wrong! We did some internet surfing, thank you Open Table, found the Bridge House Tavern, made OT res. We were a bit early and the restaurant was pretty busy, but the hostess still sat us at a lovely riverfront table. Kevin, our server, was totally informative, yet let us have our time and pace. He was attentive when we needed him and passive when we didn't. And, he had a great personality and sense of humor. The mimosas and bloodies were $5 each and top shelf. I had the benedict and my wife had the BLT with thick sliced Nueces (?) bacon. Both were out of this world. If in Chicago don't miss it and don't necessarily take the concierge's word for it."
