Brick Oven is no longer my
favorite go to after subpar food and service twice in a row. Our recent visit the food was way below standard. Angel hair pasta with seafood had small shrimp and scallops which were overcooked. The sauce was gritty from the sand in the clams. Fried calamari arrived with random zucchini fries mixed in. Leftovers from the fryer I would guess. My two children, who ordered spaghetti and meatballs were served adult entrée spaghetti with a side of meatballs, and priced accordingly. My husband ordered salmon which arrived raw in the middle and overdone on the ends. It was ice cold. Service was friendly but extremely slow."

I went to dinner with 2friends
before a show. Nice place to relax and eat. A bit loud but friendly staff and nice Loki."

We were squeezed at a table for
two. Both of our chairs were backed against the tables behind us. The wait staff had to squeeze behind my moms chair and she kept getting hit from behind. We never got our bread until we asked for it after 15 minutes. We never received our bread plates at all (used the cup saucers instead) The appetizer was put down and again we had to ask for plates. The food was good, our waitress was pleasant. Just wished we weren't so squeezed in."

The bread they served was steal
and the pasta dish I ordered was in need of some seasoning. I woredered pasta with eggplant and in was a bowl with pasta topped with eggplant. aweful..."

We were going to see Jay Leno last
Friday and took a chance on the restaurant, which is next door to the theater. We were late due to rain and a poor navigation system routing and they held reservation willingly even though the restaurant was packed. When we arrived Jen took us under her wing, got us seated and ordered the wine of our choice from a store nearby that delivers to the restaurant, as we did not know they were BYOB. The food was great, but the staff went way above and beyond. We travel and dine out quite a bit and I can assure you this was one of the best dining experiences we have had in years. We would come back often if this restaurant was in our neighborhood and not a two hour drive."

My husband and I had not eaten
here in a year or so. We were really looking forward to going back. But unfortunately, it was atrue disappointment. The restaurant crammed so many people in on this Saturday night that people were practically sitting on top of one another. Plus the food was just so so. We might be back for only pizza in the future."

Overheard that the waitress was
new; couldn't tell by us, she was very competent."

There is a loud din that overcomes
you at first, but once you settle into your seat, you realize that the energy is intoxicating and welcome."
Dined on 3/22/2014
As noted the food was excellent
and the staff was quite professional. Additionally, since we had concert tickets for the night to the Mayo performing arts center next door they took 10% for our bill. It all made for an unforgetable evening."
Dined on 3/22/2014
I eat often at this restaruant
because I attend performances next door at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. I have never had a bad meal. The food is good, fresh and interesting. My oly complaint is that I ALWAYS ask for a window seat and hve NEVER received one. I am always seated near the food prep area, although this is not necessarily a bad thing. It is interesting to watch the chefs prepare the meals."

My son and I went there right
after a show at the theater and it was perfect. Family friendly, good service and very reasonable prices. I would return"
Dined on 3/8/2014
The food is fresh, delicious and
satisfying and the kitchen really hustles. Great spot to get your pre-theater dinner as it is right next to the Mayo Arts Center. NOTE: They are BYOB and if you are going to a show leave plenty of time for closing out your bill as there will be many other people doing the same thing."

I wish this restaurant was closer
to where I live but I was here with my mom for a concert at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. The town of Morristown was so cute - wish we had more time to walk around. The food and service at Brick Oven of Morristown was amazing. Our waitress Giselle was outstanding! We were running late and so we only had about 40 minutes to eat before our show so they got us in and out quickly but the food wasn't comprimised at all. It was delicious!! I hope we get to come back someday."

I requested a table near in the
front near the wall or window in my reservation. When I arrived they looked up my reservation for the first time - and so my request was not honored - was seated at a table in the back near the bathroom. So aggravating - especially since we had an early reservation Something else to wonder about - I went to the ladies room and when I went to wash my hands - the hot water was ice cold. I let it run for a few minutes -and still it just got a few degrees "less ice cold" - never even close to even luke warm. Ugh -employees that are preparing my food and serving my food are washing their hands in the sink - if they even bother because the water is so cold. The thought makes me wonder if I will ever go back again"

we were going to see bobby collins
at the morristown community theatre and made reservations at the restaurant next door for convenience. it turned out that we had a great dinner and night out y making those reservations at the brick oven. we were a little late for our reservation but the staff was very accommodating. the dinner was delicious and we never felt rushed or anything like that as the restaurant got packed on a friday night. each couple brought a bottle of wine, which kept the price down compared to another place where we would have bought drinks, and enjoyed ourselves immensely."

Truly surprised at the quality and
service. Appears as a pizza restaurant from the outside. Very pleased with the friendly quality service. Our waitress was excellent. We had the steak special...it was the best steak I have had out dining in years. BYOB helped keep the cost down so why not splurge. Not a fan of row table dining but appreciate they are optimizing space. I would recommend highly, plus 10% off because attending a show at theater that night!"

Brick oven of Morristown is
exceptionally convenient if you are attending a show at the mayo theater. It is right next door. The menu is interesting and different from the usual Italian red sauce places. Thefried meatballs with potatoes and long hots was excellent as was the gnocchi. The pasta dishes were freshly made with excellent ingredients. Portions are nice sized but not overly large and the service was excellent. I will definitely return there, especially when attending events as noted."

Way loud but good food and
service. Be prepared for crowds and close table. They do make it work."

Great place to eat before a show.
Ordered the White Pizza and waitress made a point to ask if zucchini was ok, we opted for spinach, so nice recommendation."
Dined on 1/29/2014
Food and service were great. The
only problem is that it is jam packed with the tables right on top of each other during peak dinner hours. ."

Brick Oven is just so-so when it
comes to food; the best point about it is that it is next to the Morristown community theatre. This is the second time I've been there and am still not impressed with the food. My wife's pasta was stuck together in one big lump and linguine with clams was pretty short on clams. Both meals didn't have much flavor."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Not sure if there is a new chef,
but the new menu (which we were told about when we asked about specials, of which there were none) seemed less interesting than the old one. Some of our favorites had been changed to less appealing combinations. Will give it another try in a couple of months maybe..."

Food was very good. Everyone in
our party of 4 enjoyed the meal. We all felt the noise level was too high."

Was planning a quick stop before
attending a show at MPAC. Was glad we arrived earlier as this was a fun place to have dinner with the family. Very friendly and attentive staff. The menu is extensive and has all the Italian classics we love with open kitchen so we could watch it cook. Kids were kept very happy and there were plenty of kid-firendly items on the menu. Our dinners were fabulous and not overwhelming portions. The pizza selections was great. We did know it was BYOB but staff quickly made mention of a Wine store that delivered and showed us the wines available for purchase. Wine arrived within minutes. The only thing I would not recommend is the Cappuccino."

Decided late on a Saturday
afternoon to take a family of six out to dinner. Thought this place would fit the bill as one of the few reasonably priced places near the square in Morristown. We were surprised and delighted about the range of menu and the quality of the food. I had the seafood pasta which was recommended by our super friendly server. Delicious. We'll come back for sure."

Made a reservation for 9 to
celebrate my daughter's dance performance at the theater next door. Unfortunately, we received very poor service. It took nearly a half hour for them to take our order, while tables seated after us ordered ahead of us (same server). Then there was a wait of more than 1 hour for our food. Tables that were seated after us were paying the bill and we were still waiting. We had several kids with us and it was very hard to make them wait than long. We were told several times that "It will be out in a few minutes." Food was OK, but everyone was so hungry and cranky that it ruined our meal. Super disappointed. An 18% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. We did not receive that level of service at all!"

The food, the service and the
atmophere were all excellent. The menu choices were supberb. Our waitress was a delight."

Went with a group of 20. Nicole,
our server, was wonderful and served food to match. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the experience."

I would highly recommend this
restaurant to my friends and family!"

Food was not good at all and
service was horrible. It was a nice place to dine, too bad the food and service was horrible. Please don't waste your time here."

We go to the Mayo Art Center a few
times a year and always look forward to dining at the Brick Oven."

Excellent spot, right next door to
Morristown Community Theater. Great service, BYOB keeps cost down; Wine list available from store down the street which delivers. Great Place!"
Dined on 11/7/2013
Crowded place and thankfully we
had a reservation. Starters and Entrees were fantastic. Did not have any pizza so, no comment. Never felt rushed and staff was just wonderful. Only down-side, no bar. We brought our own wine, but food was so good that we would have still enjoyed our meal without it."
Dined on 11/2/2013
food was good but the service was
way too fast. our appetizer and salad came out at the same time. Then literally as they were clearing away those plates, the entree came. way too fast."
Dined on 11/2/2013
Always a very good dinner. Our
choice when we come to the Mayo Center for a show. Staff always makes sure to get us out on time. Smiling and courteous servers."
Dined on 10/26/2013
What a great restaurant in a great
location, right next to the Morristown Community Theater. The food is fabulous and reasonably priced. BYO wine, beer, etc. makes it even more affordable. The servers are friendly and knowledegable about the menu items and you never feel rushed. We really love this location for a pre-show dining experience. We frequently see shows at the Theater. Only once did we try another restaurant. We won't do that again. Brick Oven is THE place for us!"

Our second time at The Brick Oven
of Morristown was just as enjoyable as the first time a few months ago. That they accepted on-line reservations was convenient. Also convenient is the location next to Mayo Arts theater. Food was simple and good, though the salads we ordered were a bit small for the price. Service (same waiter on both occasions) was great - very personable and attentive (but not overly so). Would definitely return for a similar occasion."
Dined on 10/16/2013
We had a special risotto and
seafood. The seafood was generous but the risoto was very very bland.... Not a first time impression to want to go back.....!!!! Over all meal poor."
Dined on 10/16/2013
We went there prior to walking
next door to a concert at MPAC. It is very convenient. Food was great! The place was packed and the noise level was so loud, you could hardly hear the person across the table without yelling. I would highly suggest they eliminate a few tables as they are packed so close you feel as if you are sitting "family style" with the people next to you. Definitely NOT intimate or private. I would be highly concerned with people being trampled if there was ever an emergency where people had to exit quickly. Good for a quick bite before a show."
Dined on 10/16/2013
I restaurant was EXTREMELY loud
making it very difficult to talk to anyone at your own table. There was a chicken special and the chicken breast was VERY dry. The tiramasu was delicious."
