I have had one lunch and one dinner here and have enjoyed both. The menu is easy and accessible. The service was a little spotty for lunch but excellent for dinner. The roasted chicken with chard, potatoes, and au jus gravy was a comfort food dish personified. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the gravy was very flavorful. The dish really worked. They have lightened up the dining room and softened the seating with some very comfortable banquettes, however it is still a restaurant that has design flaws. Here's hoping this time it works - Scott Howard is a good chef - and I wish for his success.

Service was terrific; one of the best caesar salads I've ever eaten; wine list was thin, and the wineglass was the generic, small white regardless of wine ordered (by the bottle). Would go again for the salad, but the place was crowded and loud, and it was difficult to carry on a conversation without shouting. Largely local crowd, very casual and relaxed.

Too loud for conversation. Table too small for huge plates & all the other stuff on the table. Maybe reconsider the not particularly useful large sugar domes, just bring for sugar users at cofee time. Nice to have the water bottle on the table, but no room and we had to keep rearranging everything as plates arrived. Barely tasted cocktails before the wine we ordered by the glass (one red, one white) arrived long before cocktail was finished or entree served. Not a problem for the red wine, but had to ask for ice to rechill the white. Ice quickly melted, wine was diluted. Food was delicious & truly we arent that hard to please. We will probably try again, after you've had a chance to work out some of the newby kinks. For now, we miss Izzys

The salad was good and main course was good but the service was uneven at best. my husbands main course came out about 10 mins after mine and our side of creamed spinich came out even later than that. I dont think we need to go back there. The staff was pleasant but not coordinated or very helpful.

The food was really good. Service wasn't great however, I think our waitor might have been new to waiting tables? Not sure. It's also not the best acoustically; it was hard to hear my date who was sitting across from me, unless I leaned in. I will try it again though with a larger group.

From the moment we arrived for our dinner reservation, we were treated extremely well, with superb service from all staff. The food, too, was excellent, in particular the generous bowl of chilled soup. My companion's skirt steak was cooked to perfection, as was my fish with well-seasoned crust. My dessert, the buttermilk pannacotta, though infused with the right hint of the taste of buttermilk, was a bit bland. We must have been seated in an odd spot for echos in the restaurant, because unlike other reviewers who found the place not noisy, we had a hard time hearing each other on account of the noise.

The food was good, really good! We miss Scott Howard in San Francisco, so we were excited to try his new place in Marin. Unfortunately, the venue is a long way from San Francisco. The setting in a dumpy strip mall does not inspire confidence. The layout is a bit odd and awkward, but manageable. The staff is super friendly. We arrived for a late lunch, and we were surprised to be surrounded by kids and seniors, but nobody our age. The server could not remember anything about the food - even basic items. We really enjoyed the meal, but not so much the experience. If you live close by, this would be a good place to grab a casual meal. Certainly not worth going out of your way for...

The service was excellent. The maitre d' and the waiter were all outstanding. The food was very good and in ample portions. My skirt steak was cooked to perfection. The only problem was that it was cold. They took it back to the kitchen and warmed it up without "cooking" it. This was done very quickly so that I could eat along with everyone else. I would definitely go back.

Finally a restaurant to compete with the Buckeye!!! The turkey burger is exquisite and the grilled cheese/short rib sandwich is to die for. The signature drinks peak the imagination, the wine list is very good, and the ambience makes for the perfect tavern experience. The brunch menu looks great, too. After dining here once, we found ourselves missing Izzy's steakhouse even more since its surprise departure. The service is about the same as Izzy's, but the food is VERY mediocre and the portions quite small. My husband's short ribs were actually a tiny rib, singular...while tender, it was an overpriced tiny cut that he finished within 5 minutes. The best thing about Brick and Bottle is the old gentleman's club feel of the decor (dark wood paneling, rustic lighting, and noise dampening "leather" pads on the walls) and the $5 corkage fee. Sadly, the food doesn't measure up and the service staff seemed under trained.

Delightful menu....terrific beet, goat cheese salad that was enough for two; will go back just for the awesome orzo Mac & Cheese. Loved the many options of sides. Extremely fresh oysters. Host/Owner? was extremely gracious, apologizing for a little too quick delivery of main courses before salad plates had been removed...offered to take and remake! Only complaint is that tables for two are just too small for the large salad and entree plates, wine glasses, bread basket, water glasses, water pitcher, S&P, candle and huge sugar container...

    Dined on 12/9/2009
Very very disappointed in our last visit, after dining there perhaps a dozen times over the last three years. One of three steaks was completely inedible - the meat was tough and it should have been spotted by the kitchen before being served as unacceptable. It was kindly replaced by our server with a more expensive cut, HOWEVER, Izzy's chose to charge me for the more expensive cut when it was their mistake in the first place. It was very embarrassing to have to even discuss this in front of our guests. The side dish of creamed spinach - a staple and a classic at a steakhouse - was overly salty and downright nasty. That was two strikes for us, we aren't generous enough to wait for a third. Izzy's is off our list now.

I like Izzy's a lot, but lately have felt that the food is not as wonderful as it was before. For example, I ordered the special earlier this week, lobster tail, and, though it was quite pricey, it was flavorless and not of good quality. The baked potato was not hot enough to melt the butter, which retained its square shape. I hope the newish owners are not cutting corners on the quality and/or preparation of the food, and that these were just flukes.
