Brick American Eatery Inc.Great Service and yummy foodMy first time at Brick was with a group of 10 people for brunch--they were so accommodating and the service was wonderful. They have a great brunch menu, and the $20 "Funday" deal is great! You get all you can drink bloody marys, mimosas and sangria. Definitely a great find, and it has a friendly neighborhood restaurant vibe that I loved.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAn eclectic experienceI would say this restaurant is an experiment in food choices. That's a good thing, especially if you get bored with food easily. The specials are inventive and there is an eclectic mix of dishes from different cuisines. The drinks are fun to read on the menu and moderate in strength. They need a little work on the dessert selections and could stand hotter coffee.
The converted store-front is spacious yet cozy with deep wood tones on the walls and floors. Love the background music playlist. It's a good place for groups, couples without kids, first dates and singles. The food is probably a little too rich for the younger palate.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and ambienceMy friend and I dined at Brick with some trepidation - some of the reviews are critical of food quality and portion size. We were delighted! The food was very good - short rib mac and cheese starter and lamb burger were exceptional. Gnocchi tasted fresh made. We also ordered one of the specials - mango gazpacho starter - was memorable. Service was attentive and friendly. - the waiter heard that we planned to share the starters and served the gazpacho divided into 2 cups without our asking. We will return!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Entertainment upstairsGreat Entertainment upstairs at Dahlia's on Thursday nights with Bob Engle on piano and Bernard Grogan singing show tunes and classic tunes.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty! As a new resident to Philadelphia, I had seen Brick on several lists of great spots in Philly. So when a friend came to visit me, I made reservations.
We showed up to a charming place with lovely photos on the walls. Our greeter/server was adorable, very amiable and helpful. Though I was concerned that all the wines seem to be from the US (California and Oregon), we were still able to find appropriate matches for our dinner and our server, Matt, was helpful picking them.
I was pleased with the quality and quantity of food offered for the main dishes and appetizers. We ordered the mussels appetizer and for our main courses she had the pork loin with fruit compote while I had shimp w/ vodka sauce. Everything was well spiced and delicious.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved it...my husband liked it !Although small, I really enjoyed the food. Not an intimate dining spot because the tables are very close. BUT, if this doesn't bother you...go for the Thai Chili Shrimp appetizer...I really didn't want to share because I loved it so much! My main entrée was the pork tenderloin...it was cooked perfectly and I loved the sautéed peaches & strawberries that accompanied it. I can't say the same about the chipotle potatoes...flavor too strong for my taste. My husband had the chips and guacamole which he enjoyed, but he is not very picky when it comes to chips and guacamole! For dinner he had the steak with seasoned butter; although tender, the steak didn't have much flavor, other than what the butter provided. There’s a full bar..will go back!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMJust amazingWent for a birthday celebration and everything was perfect. The food was spectacular, service was quick and attentive. Definitely going to go again.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDahlia's is a true gem!Dahlia's is the restaurant/bar upstairs from Brick. On Thursday nights, it is an open mike night with Bob Egan who is an incredibly gifted pianist. The food is really wonderful--they always have terrific and unusual specials. The crowd is always fun. The service is great: Eric, Will, and Bernard are fun and very efficient. Bob is the big draw as he has a HUGE following from years of playing in Atlantic City, New Hope, PA, etc. Bob is fun, energetic, funny, and really gifted. Bernard has voice that will knock the socks off of you, too! It you are into the Piano Bar scene this is the place to be.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMShort rib Mac n CheeseOur favorite was the short rib mac n cheese. Cute, quiet bar scene for catching up with friends.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner before the theaterWent with 3 girlfriends after work on a Friday. Food was superb, staff was gracious, and happy hour drinks were sweet!!!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLife well fedThe food here was really good. I was afraid the portions would be too small, but they weren't! The food was served quickly after we received our wine. The mussels were really light; they were cooked in a delicious white wine garlic broth. The lamb burger was not tasty to me as I usually don't eat lamb, but my boyfriend loved it!! I must say, it was really juicy and pretty big. Of course we had the prosciutto and goat cheese flatbread; it was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised because its shaped more like a pizza. The dough is similar to that of Garces Trading Company; it was doughy and little sweet, which was very nice. I will be going again to enjoy more good food and friendly service!!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFun, Good Time!We had a fun time at this restaurant which was originally the old Astral Plane back in the day. The waiter was attentive, although not overbearing. He just had a great attitude and his service was great. If I recall his name was George and he had formerly been at the Four Seasons. This restaurant was very casual with some tables outside. My appetizer of Mac and Cheese with Short Ribs was to die for; especially for someone like me who never eats that stuff. Later on they have a piano bar upstairs and the player was really good and although it was not limited to jazz it was fun. Some of the customers joined in to sing and one guy in particular, I think his name was Ty could really sing!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Service, very comfortableExcellent Service, very comfortable home-y dining experience. Delicious food too!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Lamb Burger was unbelievable. The Lamb Burger was unbelievable. Also the cocktails made perfectly. Probably would only go back with another groupon voicher, since it makes it more affordable.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat outdoor seating on aGreat outdoor seating on a quiet Center City street.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very tasty. ServerFood was very tasty. Server was great. But typical seating (a bit cramped) that comes along with most little inner city establishments.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe whole experience was outstandinThe whole experience was outstanding from the food to the service!!!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a cute neighborhoodIt was a cute neighborhood spot. I would gave never even heard of this place had it not been for Travel Zoo. So glad we went. Great food, service , and live entertainment ! What more could you ask for?4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMake a reservation todayI highly recommend the upstairs piano bar, Dalia's, on Thursday nights. Bob Egan the pianist is amazing. He attracts a crowd of patrons who can actually sing. I had the lamb cheeseburger with fries and it was killer. The staff worked hard and looked after me very well. I'll be back again!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter reading the reviewsAfter reading the reviews on YELP we were hesitant but we had a Travelzoo coupon so we were obligated. It was a very good dinner, excellent service, nice menu -- great value. I really don't understand some of the negative reviews that were posted.
We thought it was a nice evening out.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a nice city restaurantIt's a nice city restaurant with tasty foods and wide options of drinks. Difficulty to find parking spot may limit the Brick for local people.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I went hereMy husband and I went here for the second time due to a groupon and a living social deal. Both times the food was great, but the second time around, we were basically sitting on top of the couple next to us. I'd highly recommend it for the food and the drinks, but if you're a little claustrophobic, be advised that it's quite tight in there just like many quaint restaurants in Philadelphia!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice place. We were thereVery nice place. We were there on a quiet Monday evening. Arrived way ahead of our reservation time due to good traffic, and they seated us immediately. Happy hour until 7PM, so we took advantage of that. The menu was small enough to fit on one page, but it seemed like every item was a house speciality. Everything was excellent.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI thoroughly enjoyed the food.I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was outstanding. Our waiter took exceptional care of us.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a MAGICAL night -We had a MAGICAL night - first realizing that this was the old location of the Astral Plane, a favorite restaurant from the 80's and 90's. A perfectly mixed cosmopolitan at the bar and friendly greetings gave us a good vibe - and when it was time to be seated, we asked for a romantic spot. Were we ever glad that we were escorted upstairs to Dalia's Piano Bar and Lounge. Because we were early, we had George and Babe almost to ourselves (but not for long) - and they regaled us with our favorites. Our obscure wedding dance song included! Any night that results in my husband saying to me, "Let's dance" is a five start night...and the food was terrific, too.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMStaff is extremely friendly.Staff is extremely friendly. Food portions are generous, even ths "small" plates. Try the Thai shrimp.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
