The food was horrible and over priced. They charged a service fee of 20% gratuity for using my groupon. They informed me after I noticed the extra fee on the bill. I found out when I got home that was illegal. I proceeded with a formal complaint. I will not return ever.

We went to Brick American Eatery for brunch and bottomless sangria. The service was good and the server clearly made an effort to be attentive. However, the "bottomless" sangria was so ridiculously weak that I wonder if there was ANY alcohol in that sangria. After two glasses of this nonsense we just left. I wouldn't go back, at least not for brunch.

Brick is great, it's tucked away in a residential area so it feels homey. The food is safe and delicious, something for everyone. Fun for friends, laid back not stuffy at all. I've been multiple times and haven't been disappointed. The waiters are so nice!!!!

The first time we ate at Brick was in Dec. '13. The food was delicious & the service was excellent. We enjoyed the arugula flatbread, duck nachos & our main entree's. We loved it so much we decided to go back with more friends just this past Friday. This time, most of what we asked for from their small menu, they were out of. The duck nachos came out with chicken on it instead & the arugula flatbread was subbed with what looked like a soggy pizza. I ordered the short ribs & it was horrible. The filets that most of the rest of our table ordered were chewy. Our server seemed to be annoyed. Had such high expectations based on our first dining experience. We will not be returning.

Alright we came at a quiet hour, 6 PM, but there were zero people in sight. It's alright I enjoy my quiet. We could actually hear each other speak but so could all the staff. The waiter was a bit snippy and annoyed at us plus they seemed to be out of everything. Not only was the menu changed from the online one that brought us in (the menu was cut in half), but he informed us that they didn't have the spring rolls or the wings or the duck nachos from the measly list of appetizers left. The food was alright, nothing special. Disappointing.

I can now understand why I've been seeing Groupons for this place so often. The menu was too limited. The food tasted bland. And the décor was lacking. They even had their outside chairs stacked up inside the restaurant in the dining area. Bad move. Not something you want to be looking at while dining. I ordered the flatbread appetizer which was basically a mini pizza. I thought it was good. For my main course I had pesto ravioli which was mediocre at best. My husband ordered the mussels, duck nachos, and the burger. The mussels smelt awful so he didn't touch them. They were out of duck and replaced it with chicken. He said the nachos and burger were ok. We both agreed that this is a place we wouldn't return to.

I was a late-comer to planning for Easter brunch this year, and Brick was one of the only restaurants available for a party of 5 within a 4-hour mid-day window. I had been to Brick two years prior and quite enjoyed it. This time, however, the place was abandoned. The servers forgot to bring silverware and napkins. The sangria tasted like cheap grape juice. The omelettes and dusted potatoes were quite tasty, but I missed the basket of complimentary corn muffins that they used to bring. The decor is an odd mix of zebra carpet with 1950's pin-up girls on the wall. It seems like the restaurant already knows that it's on the way out.

Forget the menu they display online. They really offer about a third of the options. All the good ones are gone and what is left is greasy bar food. And they make substitutions or plain omissions in the few dishes still on the menu without telling you. The duck nachos had no duck, but three tiny pices of chicken. The waiter did not think he had to tell us about it when we ordered. The $12 flatbread "du jour" (again the three flatbreads from the menu online are gone) was tomato sauce and greasy grated cheddar on a soggy piece of flatbread. Tables and menus were greasy and sticky. The place was empty on a Friday night. A groupon got us there. My worst Groupon mistake !

The past 12 months this restaurant has gone through several chef changes. The food quality has gone up and down but has never been as good as when the place first opened. This past visit on Sunday was the worst. Bartender had to wait tables. Food was just so so. They had not much left on the menu to serve. Most of the people in the restaurant were talking with each other saying how bad service was during Sunday dinner. Some tables even left and did not wait for their meals. We had given this place several months to turn it around but at this point I give it six months to a year before it closes. This place cannot survive on Groupons and living social deals forever. Sad to see this place go down hill.

Very unsatisfied, after sitting at a table for more than two hours, our party of four finally gave up...and I apologize I can not accurately rate the food, because we never got our meals. We were just lucky enough to finally get cranberry juice after 47 mins of waiting.

There is a limited menu, which would be fine, except they were out of two entrees and a few small plates, due to being "hit hard" earlier in the day. The server I believe was also the host, part time bartender. The table next to us was there since 6:30, and ended up leaving at around 7:30, without entrees. We ordered iced teas and had no sweetener. After about 10 minutes of no sweetener, my partner went to the bar and got a container of sweetener for the table. When we received our bill, we left our payment, and started walking out. The server was chatting at the bar, looked at us, and kept his conversation going, without a THANK YOU, Come again. Throughout the entire hour and a half, he apologized for the service and wait once.

The food was not bad but we waited for a considerable time to receive the menus, had to ask for the drink menu, waters were never filled, never asked if we wanted a second alcoholic beverage and it took three times to get the check correct. The diners around us seemed to have some of the same issues. The atmosphere made me think I was in a coffee shop in the late sixties in San Francisco. Not the best restaurant experience!

It is one of the worst restaurants I have been to in a long time. I went because someone gave me a living social deal. When I went online to look at the menu it looked pretty good. When I entered the place I quickly realized that they were false advertising their restaurant to have tasty farm-to-table food, but the menu they handed us had very few items that were listed online. The stairway to go up sunk in as you walked. The bad zebra carpet was the filthiest thing I had ever seen. I do not understand how this restaurant ever passed inspection. The food pretty much matched the atmosphere. We ordered a Margherita flatbread that was literally frozen, bad pizza. My salmon was ok, but small portion for the price. I would NOT recommend!

I REALLY DID NOT LIKE HOW A 20% GRATUITY WAS AUTOMATICALLY ADDED TO OUR BILL FOR JUST A PARTY OF 4!!!!! IT WAS A $45 TIP AND MOST OF IT CAME FROM OUR BAR BILL WHICH JACKED UP THE BILL. I WOULD NEVER GIVE THAT MUCH TIP JUST FOR A BAR BILL BUT WAITER, AFRAID OF GETTING RIPPED OFF BECAUSE OF USING GROUPON WORTH $120 , ADDED HIS OWN 20% GRATUITY TO THE TOTAL BILL . I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN BECAUSE THIS WAS DONE AND HAVE WARNED MY OTHER FRIENDS WHO BOUGHT THIS GROUPON OF THIS RESTAURANTS PRACTICE.

15 minutes to receive a glass of wine. 15 more to receive: Mussels in a white wine sauce and duck nachos. The duck nachos were ridiculous----there were four pieces of duck meat on the entire plate--trust me--I counted. The whole dish was squirted w/ what I first thought was some kind of sauce, but no, it was sour cream. Just sour cream. This dish is not really a dish at all. Chips, four pieces of duck, one tablespoon of mediocre guacamole, and about a cup of sour cream. The mussels were delicious. We waited 30 minutes for our entree after our appetizer. Everyone like's a bit of a pause, but THIRTY MINUTES? The first half inch of the short rib mac and cheese was delicious. But after that layer the macaroni was literally naked. Awful.

I ordered a Manhattan with lemon and it tasted like pure simple syrup. It was so bad that I had to order an extra shot of bourbon to try to take the edge off the sweetness. The menu was very limited; I thought Brick meant brick-oven pizza, but there was only one very basic flatbread on the menu. The menu online was so much more expansive; we were disappointed to see less than half of those options on the actual menu. We were all disappointed with our meals. Our server, however, was excellent and very friendly.

Our disappointment began when we looked at the menu. There was very little to choose from. The menu on their website was at least twice as big. People who ordered cocktails were happy with them. The glasses of wine however were about 3 oz. and way too expensive for what the wine was. Besides the chicken wings, no one gave anything else the thumbs up. The entrees were all bland. The entree size for non pasta dishes was very small for the price. If we didn't have a Groupon, I am sure we would have been angry when the check arrived. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Since I picked the restaurant, I was apologizing to my friends all night. I have never written a review this negative before.

We were a little hesitant to dine here given some of the reviews. The drinks are a bargain at $10 and well made. In most restaurants, we typically pay at least $15 for the same drink. We ordered the short rib mac and cheese as an appetizer. It was very good but quite filling. While we had to wait somewhat long for our entree, we didn't mind since we were out to relax. When the food came, it was hot and quite good. Our server was very attentive. We would go back.

Pretty sure this place is going out of business soon and they are trying to get rid of the last of their inventory. They just recently sold over 1000 groupons for 50% off. The food choices were extremely limited nothing near what is listed on line. They offered three beer choices coors lite, Bud and blue moon and only two or three cocktail options. We requested bread with our mussels and the server brought us four bite size pieces of pita for four people! When we inquired about the choice of bread served we were told by the manager that they don't offer bread. The salmon was way too salty, the stuffed chicken was over done and not prepared the way it was advertised and the gnocchi was heavy and tasteless. Very disappointing all around.

Before going to brick I wasn't sure what we were in for because on yelp there had been bad review after bad review but we has a groupon so regardless of what I had read we were going there at least once. I've gotta say it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The food was to die for, the atmosphere didn't feel to fancy or to undercut, it was perfect, and the service was exquisite. Our waiter knew everything off the menu without taking a single peek at it, was tentative and polite. Overall whatever they did to get any bad reviews has totally changed because brick American eatery has become one of my favorite places to go!

I was looking for a great place in the City to take a friend for a birthday brunch. The online menu was not the same as the restaurant - which was more limited. They no longer do muffin baskets or any kind of pastry basket. Food was decent but nothing spectacular. Selection was small. Kudos to servers which were attentive and friendly. Ambiance was just so-so and very loud. I wanted to do the brunch 2 hour drink special for $20 but we didn't want to linger there for 2 hours so we bagged it. They also took the Bellini off that menu. Probably a great drop-in place for locals but not really where I would go again for a great brunch or place to leave feeling wowed.

If you are looking for a place for you and a group of friends and want a very basic brunch menu along with the option for unlimited bloody mary or mimosas, then this might be your place. Just don't expect the food to be all that great and do expect the unlimited drinks to be pretty light on the alcohol and cheap on the booze quality. Don't expect to be "wowed" and you will be fine.
