Diner Reviews
  • "Our family had a 5:45 reservation for dinner as we were trying to make a 7:30 concert. I had reviewed the menu on line and knew BRB had a nice variety of choices for us, two adults, two teens. Service was responsive and courteous. My son and I chose pasta (tortellini & penne) as we were hiking a "14er" the next morning. Warm bread with oil/vinegar is always a hit with my kids. A daily special Caprese salad was superb. Good Caesar also. Trout special was tasty. Nice range of wines by the glass & bottle. Even at full occupancy, we were able to converse at normal volume. Didn't feel rushed but we were out easily within an hour, enabling us to get to the show early. Good food, ambience & service. A hit with us, all happy. Will return!"

  • "My wife, our 2 kids and 2 grand kids celebrated my wife and my 50th anniversary here and we couldn't have been more pleased with the food and the service. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance. Step into an evening of marvellous dining."

  • "Amazing food, service and ambience! So glad I spent my birthday here. Had a group of 8 and service was excellent. Elk, Lamb, Duck and Shortribs were spectacular! A must try restaurant in Breckenridge."

  • "Recommended by a friend and I I will pass that on. Our waitress "S" from upper New York was excellent and the food was amazing. Family style sides and great entrées will fill any appetite, made me think of Amana Colonies in Iowa."

  • "Actually can be best of many places. Great food, awesome service, attention to details, nice setting. What more can one say? Very enjoyable evening."

  • "Awesome experience- steak was great and side dishes were incredible- best Mac and cheese I have ever had. Will go back for sure on next trip."

  • "we were four diners: one entrée-Norwegian salmon was good, one diner had scallops (an appetizer) which were very good. the other couple ordered and shared a buffalo rib eye (medium). the rib eye served was on the rare side, it was chewy and tough; the accompanying sauce was too sweet for their taste."

  • "Briar Rose NEVER disappoints! We took some friends there for the 4th of July, their first time, and had another outstanding dinner with some fantastic wine. Our server was just an incredible young lady that made our dinner that much more enjoyable! The best in Breckenridge!!!"

  • "The atmosphere is wonderful. My main complaint was a fairly tough pork chop--I think their beef is probably much better. My wife had sea bass which was good but a little down on flavor. The accompaniments were wonderful--the Lyonaisse potatoes were crispy and seasoned perfectly and the grilled asparagus was delicious. We didn't get too adventurous with dessert-key lime pie we shared which was good, but would like to try some of the other desserts on future trips. We would definitely go back, just would skip the pork chop, frankly I have found very few restaurants who can make a decent one."

  • "We were promptly seated in their extremely hot (probably 80 degree) and stuffy dining room. Our "server" took our order for drinks and then proceeded to go into full-time service with her table of 8 and another table of 6. We waited for 15+ minutes for our cocktails, watching our server with her 2 large parties and the other staff members serving their tables. As nobody noticed or seemed to care about our lack of service we decided that another establishment was more deserving of our money. We got up and left, probably unnoticed by anyone there. The food looked good but as we didn't get any we give it one hungry star."

  • "Despite fact the AC was not functioning and it was very warm inside, our experience was a wonderful one. The food was fantastic, but even more amazing was our server Amy. A warm, friendly, upbeat disposition coupled with great attention to detail and great sense of humor, Amy did everything in her power to ensure we enjoyed our time at Briar Rose. She went above and beyond to deliver with excellence and accommodated every request we had, even some we only alluded to in gest! Chilled napkins to offset the room temperature was one such example. Overall - I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would highly recommend you request Amy as your server."

  • "Not what I expected a $34 steak to taste like. I was hoping for jaw dropping wow, but got ehh I've had better. When I pay that much for a steak it should rank in the top 3 at least. But I can say that I have had a better steak at at least three other places that don't age their beef, it looked almost like they pan seared it instead of grilled it. The grilled Asparagus was great, baked potato was good, and their cream corn reminded me of a great Mexican food restaurant I have had before. Ambiance was quaint, moderate noise level, had to speak up quite a bit for my wife to hear me. They put us in a corner and I didn't like that. People seemed snooty, definitely the upscale Breck people. The staff was nice, but seemed a little slow. $pricey$"

  • "Our steaks were prepared perfectly and the sides were excellent. We had the Mac & Cheese, which is the best we've found, and the whipped potatoes, which are very rich. The wine list is extensive and our selection was very good."

  • "Great food all the way around! We were a little miffed when we shows up for a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes. Also, service was slow to say it nice. "

  • "The food was of high quality and prepared perfectly. Everything we had was delicious including the salads, side dishes and main course. The servings are plentiful. We requested some modifications and the restaurant went out of their way to accommodated us. We have been visiting Breckenridge for years and this was a first time to try Briar Rose. So glad we found it and we will definitely return. "

  • "On a seven day road trip round Colorado, this was the one to beat. Had a great Coors Golden Banquet beer, which was as good as it gets for me. Bread was tasty to start with. My starter of a trio of game sausages, followed by Elk medallions were excellent, and not too badly priced. My wife enjoyed the crab cake starter too. Service was efficient and polite. I would eat there again and recommend you do too."

  • "My boyfriend and I had a great dinner here. It was very quiet, the service was superb and the food was amazing. We started with the bacon wrapped sea scallops...so good! I am not a big steak eater, but I had the petite filet. It was just the right size for me. We had the vegetable gratin and the mashed potatoes on the side. The mashed potatoes are the best mashed potatoes I have ever had. We were so full we were not able to eat all of them. All I could think about the next day was eating the rest of those potatoes. I will definitely come back for them the next time I am in Breckenridge!"

  • "When you're ready to spend a little more for a very special evening, this is the place. Very attentive service, old world ambiance, delicious food. If you tend to get chilled easily, ask for a seat away from the windows if it's a cold night. If you make a reservation online, they will have read it when you arrive. Salads are large enough to split, which they graciously offer to do for you in the kitchen. Even the bussers are well trained in how to replace used silverware quickly and quietly but not obsequiously. "

  • "We had a very nice dinner. The scallops were excellent. The prime new york strip was a very good steak. They have very nice red wines."

  • "Great welcome from the host. Seated immediately. Atmosphere slightly fancy without being over the top. Great for special occaasion or just a nice family outing. Waitress very accomodating, she even found some bifocals for one of our group who left hers behind. Very interesting menu options, really something for everyone. Wine list extensive, waitress helpful in choosing a good wine in our price point. Salads fine. Entrees served after a little extra wait. Filets very tender but slightly overdone, we didn't send them back due to time constraints. Sides were delicious. Highly recommend, just be careful about ordering how well you want your steak."

  • "Loved the restaurant. This was my first time and I enjoyed every bit of it. They made us a great dirty martini, followed by some wonderful appetizers. Then the main course came and it was simply perfect. We had a very nice, engaging, delicious meal. Our next visit to the mountain will definitely include another trip to visit the Briar Rose Chophouse."

  • "We ate here recently and had a nice dinner. I ordered the prime rib which was good, but not great because it lacked a bit of flavor. I actually had to salt the au jus. The portion was decent but keep in mind that this place is pricey and everything is a la cart. The sauces are an additional $4.00 and a side will run you around $9.00. It's still one of the better places to eat in Breck but just know it's going to be on the high end. Service was good but there were a couple times where we had to ask for more water. Not a huge deal but when you're charging top price, the service should match. Overall this restaurant is good and we will be returning."

  • "Had a great meal with friends from out of town. First visit to the restaurant. It is now my favorite 4-5 star restaurant in Breckenridge. It is a bit pricy but a very good meal so I would go again to entertain clients, or go out with family and friends on a special occasion."

  • "Excellent food and wine with terrific service--our server was pleasant, fun, knowledgeable and good with the kids, but not intrusive. The buffalo bone-in ribeye was everything I hoped for and my son's Australian wagyu skirt steak was perfect. Still, our server happily satisfied my daughter's need for more ketchup for her chicken tenders, which were really good, too! A terrific evening and a very authentic place, fitting of Breck. Not like so many ski towns (and their restaurants) that have become over-the-top-Beverly-Hills-in-the-mountains. Briar Rose is about terrific food/wine and and a comfortable atmosphere, not being seen or bragging rights."

  • "We have been here as repeat customers because the food is always perfectly cooked and tastes wonderful. Highly recommend the escargot and the buffalo (if available as a special--usually winter season). Creamed spinach is great as a side dish. All the cocktails are well made too. Definitely enjoy the saloon and bar area before dinner if time."

The service was friendly and attentive. Our server Mick had great recommendations on wine. Great dinner. Will definitely go back."

  • "We braved icy snowy roads and ski season lack of parking but it was well worth it for an excellent meal on 3/28/14. We arrived early and grabbed the last table in the packed bar. We tried a Colorado beer called 90 Shilling which was was delicious and I am not really a beer drinker! We were seated promptly by the personable Pat. My husband had a sweet garlic soup (the first time we have seen that on any menu) and was happy he did. I selected a wedge salad which was delicious and large enough for 2-3 people. His medallions of elk were tender and well prepared. I had Rocky Mountain trout which was fully deboned and came with a tasty topping of spinach and slivered almonds. Amy suggested lyonnaise potatoes - way to go Amy!"

  • "We were in Breckenridge for a family spring break vacation. We didn't plan on eating out many nights given the size of our group (8 adults). We chose Briar Rose as the one place for a special night out and it really lived up to the advance hype/reviews. The service was courteous and prompt, the wine list extensive, and the food choices varied with something for everyone. We were pleasantly surprised when all aspects of the evening met or exceeded everyone's expectations. With such a large group it's tough to please everyone but we all commented afterward on what a great dinner we had. Everyone ordered something different and it was all prepared a near to perfection as you could get. We shared desserts and they were all outstanding!"
