The filet was fantastic. Crispy exterior yet still mid-rare interior. Well seasoned but not over-powering. Brussels sprouts that came with the rack of lamb were some of the best I've had as well. The only reason we docked the ambiance is that there were a lot of arrogant and high-and-mighty conversations around us about how awesome people thought they were.

This restaurant was prettier as Rainbow Lodge. MUCH too loud, bad music in the background, food not good at all. The server was extremely attentive, but that cannot make up for all the other negatives. The grounds are beautiful, but the atmosphere is killed by loud groups, and the dress code was not, obviously, in force outside. This is not a romantic spot, for sure. Nor is it a great business dinner spot because of the noise level. Our dinner companions said the steak was tough, and the salad was bland.

I was in love with the old Rainbow Lodge which was a predecessor of Brenners Steakhouse. The Rainbow Lodge was so good and downright classy that it casts any successor in a poor light. Last Tuesday night when we dined Brenners was very noisy, the food was excellent though portions were small and prices were high. Service was attentive and excellent. The wine list was excellent although prices were too high. When I made my reservation I had requested a table close to the fireplace - this request was accommodated for which I was grateful. We had a pleasant, though expensive, night which was a little saddened by the comparison with previous wonderful nights at the Rainbow Lodge.

This was my third time to Brenner's on the Bayou and the service this time was sub par. This was my first time sitting outside at the lounge and attending for brunch, and there were long delays with being greeted, our order being taken, receiving our food, and the worst delay was receiving our checks. Not sure if the wait staff was new or inexperienced this day, but it seemed rather odd to me considering I had such great experiences the past two visits to the restaurant.

Me and my wife came here a year or so ago for a special brunch invite. We loved the view of the wooden area during the day. When we visited on the 17th of Sept for an Anniv dinner is was sort of wet and dark for dinner so we didn't get the view we were expecting. No fault to the restaurant. Presentation was good and service was ok. I ordered the Hanger steak (medium). I believed it was over cooked. There wasn't but maybe a slither of pink to be found in the folds of the meat. Our server was cool, not great. I have better service elsewhere when eating somewhere for the first time. I would try something else if I go back but I cant say how soon.

The landscape around this restaurant puts it in the top league before you start. The menu has some interesting twists. At our table we chose main courses of duck and of wild boar. Both were excellent. The wine list however exceeded the wine cellar in that one of the wines I chose was out of stock. I had set out to contrast some bottles from neighboring vintages. The wine waiter understood what I was trying to achieve and came up with two other neighbors in the same theme and in the same pricing. Very satisfied.

I wanted a unique restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday and this definitely fit the bill! It's romantic and upscale, the surrounding grounds (park/bayou) make you feel transported to a different city if not state! I really liked the two-floor layout of the restaurant with wooden staircases and beams. Very pretty. The food was absolutely delicious, too. We had salmon and duck. The duck was amazing! Also some puff thing for appetizer - delicious!! And, having 3 people serve you definitely hit that glamorous note that I wanted. However, all of this comes at a stiff price. I wouldn't come here for a regular dinner (if you can afford it, than by all means!) but for a birthday I was more than happy to splurge.

I could not combine my bar bill and restaurant bill. I needed a combined bill for claim purposes. I requested multiple times to either combine the bill or I will pay the bar bill at the end with the food bill. But they would not even let me move to dining table without paying the bar bill. Pathetic service and rules. I don't know if they thought I was going to run away or something.

23 year anniversary dinner with adult children was fantastic. First time there. Saw on open table. Wife had steak and lobster and I had the stuffed quail. Appetizers were awesome and great drinks. We also had a martini before our wine and drinks were served "as dirty as the bayou". Our server Theresa coined that phrase and that started the beginning of a fantastic dining experience.

This has grown to be my favorite restairant in Houston. We used it last year for our wedding anniversary. This year was a milestone birthday. When my daughter walked in for the first time on Saturday night she exclaimed "Oh wow." That about sums it up. Food was excellent, service was impeccible and there's no place like it in Houston for atmosphere.

My wife and I visited for the first time on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly, the bevy of servers was continous , my Quail appetizer was delicious and my wold Boar was incredible, especially due to the sauce! Even my Latte was perfect. Management came by twice at least. I told them we had 1 hour fifteen minutes and they got us out in time but didn't rush us at all What more could you want? It met our ever expectation.

The servers are very friendly and attentive to the customers. The food is awesome. We started with salad. I had the Caesar and my husband ordered the house salad with the herb vinaigrette dressing. He was very impressed with the flavor of the dressing. For entrees, I had the salmon with crab and artichoke topping on it. The crispy outside and tender inside of the salmon was delicious, and the topping just enhanced the meal. My husband had the steak and rock lobster tail. The coffee toffee bread pudding and apple strudel finished off our meal perfectly. Since we were celebrating my husband's birthday, his dessert came with a small candle and "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on the plate.

For the money paid and based on the reputation of Brenner's, I was very excited about experiencing the new location on the bayou. We received terrible, unprofessional service. Food was spotty and portions were small. Will say the vegetables were exquisite, but the main dishes were hit or miss. Would recommend having a drink at their outside bar. Nice atmosphere. Would not recommend this restaurant, unless you are going for happy hour on the patio.

A fortieth wedding anniversary is a special occasion in this day and age. When I made reservations for a dinner for my wife and I, it was with the hope that I could surprise her with a truly "special" evening. I was the one who was surprised. I had never been to Brenners but upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to realize that we had been to this location, years ago when it was in operation under a different guise. The staff went out of their to greet and congratulate us on our anniversary and were quite attentive and gracious throughout our meal. The food was wonderful in presentation and quality and our dessert was personalized with happy anniversary. In short, Brenners made our special fortieth anniversary dinner special.

I knew of the restaurant existed, but no knowledge of it's location. Until one day we spotted it while on a kayaking trip down Buffalo Bayou. I have fine dined in the past several times, but Brenner's On The Bayou takes it to another level. It was like being pampered at a day spa, only at a restaurant instead. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but worth every dollar. I would definitely recommend Brenner's to a friend.

Food was really good...I had the shrimp and grits (doesn't sound good, but wait until you try it) and my wife had a steak. Asparagus was nice also. Chocolate Mousse for desert...rich, creamy and smooth...and the raspberry on top added a nice tartness.

We wanted to come back to the restaurant where my husband proposed to me. Back then, it was Rainbow Lodge. Now it's owned by Landry's. We were promised the best table in the house with flowers on the table, and the champagne to be waiting at the table. We got none of that. We were at a crummy table with no view, then they sat 8 drunk loud ladies behind us, halfway through our meal. Swarms of fruit flies visited us. I spent more money on this meal than I have ever spent on a meal in my life. Dissapointed doesn't begin to cover it. What saved the day? The food, the wait staff and the champagne. I will never trust someone who lies to me about giving me the best seat in the house.

We generally come to Brenner's for special occasions. Since they also had a special restaurant week menu that had a vegetarian option for every course, we decided to try it out. The food was excellent! The soup de jour was a creamy tomato basil soup which was delicious. The vegetarian meal was super tasty, which is rare for a steakhouse (one of the reasons why I love Brenner's - excellent food for both me and my fiance). MY fiance got the 8 oz. New York Strip, done medium, which I hear was delicious and also came with these amazing cheesy potato cakes. Finally, we got the apple strudel and the chocolate mousse cake, both of which were delicious. Overall, I really like the Brenner's experience - friendly, classy service with excellent food!

Everything was perfect during my last date with my husband at Brenner's Steakhouse on the Bayou. From the prompt, attentive service to the well-cooked and delicious food, everything was exceptional. We both went the steakhouse route but would be happy to try some of Brenner's non-beef entrees next time. Our waiter was very helpful with wine selection and made excellent recommendations for after-dinner drinks to enjoy with our over-the-top desserts. Overall experience was definitely positive and we will most certainly return.

We have visited Brenner's on several occasions over the last 3 years, and it has become my favorite spot for fine dining and the special occasions. They hosted my retirement function back in March and my guests were very impressed with the facilities and food quality. I noted on the last visit that Brenner's added a lower deck off of the Blue Bar, and I found it to be shaded, very relaxed, and with beautiful scenery. My suggestion to potential customers is to use the OpenTable online reservation agent and go before 06:00 PM. You will catch the normal happy hour pricing, and the noise in the dining area will be several decibels lower.
