Diner Reviews
  • "It's a Houston institution that I hadn't yet tried, so we made a reservation for a large group and ventured over. As a group of 30-somethings, we felt a little out of place among the older crowd, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our time out. The venue and decor were really comfortable while keeping it classy. The service was great (as expected), and the food was as good as expected. The turtle soup was exceptional -- the highlight of our meal where everything else was solidly good."

  • "Wonderful food, service, and ambience in a beautiful setting. Louisiana cuisine at its finest. Elegant and yet relaxing. There is nothing else quite like Brennan's in Houston."

  • "great place. our waiter joe gave us a tour of the place after dinner. lots of great history as he told us of how the place looked before the fire 10 years ago. food was great. the three course meals were really quite a good value. it was worth having to buy a pair of pants so i could go. only packed shorts for summertime houston!"

  • "The cooking at our redone Brennan's is nothing like the old one we loved. The New Orleans flavor is lacking. We were very disappointed."

  • "Dinner at Brennan ' s is something to write home about. We were visiting Houston for a boys volleyball tournament and had eaten out with a very large group for 3 nights...total train wteck. Brennan ' s was quiet, elegant and the food and service were absolutely outstanding. I will be dreaming about the Harris filet and the bananas foster for a long time. Worth every penny."

  • "Took a friend here for her birthday - it was her first visit but she was familiar with the restaurant. She really enjoyed it. The main dining room is just gorgeous. The wing back chairs make for an intimate experience. Stellar service and of course the food was delicious. Looking forward to returning in the future."

  • "The service was impeccable. If you plan on going to Brennan's, I eould suggest that you request Joe as your server. He portrayed thorough knowledge of the menu and was able to guide us in our decision. I greatly enjoyed my experience and will definitely be a return consumer!!"

  • "david anderson- "the wine guy"- made an excellent recommendation- we wanted a napa cab and he walked us through the list to the perfect bottle - turned out that a napa blend was the best choice and a great value marcelino is a one of a kind- he served us as if it were our last meal ever! so authentic, so personable"

  • "Everything we ordered was outstanding. Could not go wrong with any choice you made. The parlines at the front door were also to die for."

  • "Everything was great. Everyone, from the car hops to the hostess, bar keeper, and waiters were superb. The drinks, soups, and desserts were great. This restaurant is affiliated with that part of the Brennan family from New Orleans that has expanded into many restaurants. I have eaten at most of them, and the experience has always been flawless. The entree selections at this restaurant leave a lot to be desired, and do not come close to those at it's sister restaurants. I think management has tweaked the dishes to offer a Texas based menu. I'm sure from the number of diners at lunch Sunday that the menu is working. I guess I am spoiled by the New Orleans restaurants. Anyway, other than the entrees, our experience was great."

  • "The wife and I were out for date night and Brennan's delivered a remarkable performance. We have dined at the Court of Two Sisters in New Orleans many times and Brennan's, which has a very similar menu, completely blows them out of the water. The wait staff pays every attention to detail, can't say enough great things about this restaurant. Definitely recommend highly!"

  • "We go to Brennan's 2-3 times a year and it is one of our favorite restaurants. But this visit was sub par. We were put on the second floor with the C team. The food was good but it was not the Brennans we are used to. And the dress code issues are a whole other matter. The lack of enforcement just ruins the atmosphere!"

  • "Title days it all. The restaurant says "jackets preferred for men", but only about 10% complied. Noise level is high for an intimate dinner. Extensive wine list. Food & service makes overall experience worthwhile."

  • "It had been 20 years since we had celebrated our very first anniversary at Brennan's as we had moved away from Houston almost that many years ago. Since we had to be in town on our 21st anniversary we knew Brennan's was the perfect spot. It did not disappoint in the slightest. The service was perfect from the host who congratulated us to the waiter who was both friendly and perfectly professional. The food was just as good as we remembered and maybe better since we could appreciate it more have dined all over the world in the last 20 years. Overall it was a wonderful experience and will be our choice for any special occasion when we are in Houston."

  • "Great food. Great service. All equals a fantastic business lunch."
    Dined on 5/28/2014
  • "The service was a bit off. Perhaps they were down a person or two? And seating in the area to the left of the hostess stand is loud. Too many hard surfaces. As for the main dining room for a quieter lunch."

  • "from seating style to black napkins, to impeccable service, Brennans did not disappoint. Food was excellent, wine list impressive and new premises are classy and extensive."

  • "We were disappointed in our latest visit to Brennan's. My wife's pecan crusted fish was over-cooked and my shrimp & grits had such an overpowering taste of goat cheese, I couldn't taste the sauce, elaborately prepared at the table."

  • "All the atmosphere of the original Brennan's in New Orleans' French Quarter, but better food and service, and less "touristy"- my favorite. Staff is marvelous "

  • "Brunch at Brennan's includes a special menu that allows choice among a dozen dishes and appetizers and close to that number of desserts. Food is exceptional and the service could not be better. There were 3 of us and we dined alongside groups of as many as 12. All were served promptly and efficiently and made to feel welcomed. Live music with a travelling band visiting each table for a few moments adds to the ambiance. Very much a Creole Louisiana style restaurant with seafood, grits, pork and lots of sauces on the menu. Add this to your "must visit" places."

  • "Excellent! We celebrated my daughter's 19th birthday here, and everything was superb. Food, Service, and overall experience were outstanding. Brennan's is one of Houston's best treasures."

  • "We had our Rehearsal Dinner, many birthdays and special events here! Nice lunch BUT they forgot we had a birthday and graduation event we were celebrating. I put that down when I made the reservation. The restaurant was not full. There were two other birthdays celebrated but our table was not acknowledged. Felt a bit forgotten. No big hat. Silly but that is the thing we look forward to the most. The second waiter was very attentive. Food was good as always but not the birthday jazz!"

  • "Service polished and attentive; food great. (We were kept waiting in the corridor for our table, then re-directed to the bar, sat down, then table was ready - slightly inept) overall a good experience, though."

  • "The problem with Brennan's is they are so consistent - you expect great food and great service and you get it every time. I always keep Brennan's in mind for a special occasion or pre-theater."

  • "Brennan's never disappoints - the food is fabulous, the staff is welcoming, the restaurant is beautiful. It's a comfortable restaurant to be in. Food is unbelievably good from steaks to blueberry glazed quail to redfish Pontchartrain. And the desserts!!!!!!! Lemon meringue pie, strawberry shortcake (with shortcake not sponge). My starter of Hill Country quail with dumplings was SO GOOD, I asked the chef for the recipe and he gave me his card - told me to email him. How nice is that? Never ever disappoints."
