Welcome to Breakwater Restaurant. Here, Chef Lang and Chef Shaw create their version of 'New Southern Cuisine' which contains elements of the past and the present. Younger, lighter and fresher than ‘old school’ Southern deep-fried fare, Breakwater cuisine incorporates culinary influences from around the world. The bar at Breakwater offers a lively venue for locals and visitors alike. The fun, friendly atmosphere combined with warm Southern hospitality is a Breakwater signature.Continued

- Too bad!OpenTable Diner Since 2012Dined on 11/22/2014The iceberg wedge was an iceberg wilted mess...at best. The tuna tartare never appeared and the water glasses were refilled once, when we left. The drinks were great - wish the waiter had asked if we wanted another.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- ThanksSBLOUNTDined on 11/15/2014I had my hall of fame celebration dinner at Breakwater. The manager was extremely accomodating and did everything possible to make the experience special (including a free bottle of champagne for a toast). The food, atmosphere, and service were all excellent...a top spot in Greenville (especially downtown).Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- sadly disappointedgeegeDined on 11/8/2014The menu looked great. ordered wine - out of it. ordered appetizers - never came. salad delivered within 5 minutes of ordering dinner - dinner delivered before our salads were finished. biscuits and corn muffins delivered when our dinner were just about finished. in and out in about an hour....not really what we had in mind for fine dining.Special Features:
- first visitOpenTable Diner Since 2014Dined on 11/1/2014This was our first visit. We were celebrating my wfe's birthday. She picked it due to other good reviews. The food was very good. We both had the fried chicken due to other reviews and it was excellent. She had fried green tomatoes and they were good as well. Our friend had the steak medallions that she said were very good. The service was excellent even accomodating my wife's request to replace the goat cheese for the tomatoes with pimento cheese. It was a bit noisy and tables kind of close together but overall a nice experience and we will return.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.

- Can't Get Enough of the Food!ROHWDined on 10/18/2014My husband and I love Breakwater and go for dinner whenever we can. The food and service is always superb! My entree last night was the best I've ever had there. I ordered the Petite Medallions and it was tender, cooked to the perfect temperature, and I couldn't get enough of the sauce! My husband almost always gets the Rack of Lamb and he thought it was even better than usual this time. Keep up the good work and we can't wait to go back!Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Looking forward to another visitGrilledDined on 10/17/2014One good visit does not define a restaurant. The food's taste and service quality was excellent. We enjoyed an appetizer, wine, cocktails and our main course. The next 2 visits will determine if Breakwater deserves a spot on our regular dining list.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Nice spotPowerhouseDined on 10/9/2014Nice decor, friendly staff, great food, quick service. Although we didn't go the bar , it appeared to have a vibrant bar scene. Haven't eaten there before, but a must do again some day.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.

- Breakwater was a great experience!LisaMDDined on 9/26/2014We took my daughter's friends from Furman here on a Friday night. We have never visited this reaurant before and it was a definite treat for all. I particularly like your menu and the variety it contained. Our service was great even on an extremely busy night and the food was delicious. The restaurant was a little noisy but we did not mind at all. We will definitely return on our next trip to Greenville!Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Exceptional restauranttt87Dined on 9/25/2014We had an excellent dinner at Breakwater this week. I had the fried chicken on the recommendation of the waiter and it was delicious. My dinner companions had the roasted lobster tails and they are mouthwatering. Excellent service. This is a wonderful restaurant.Special Features:
- Great night outFoodie82Dined on 9/25/2014My wife and I went to Breakwater for her birthday (her request). I am not a big fan of "fancy" restaurants but had an excellent meal that surprised me. The menu has something for everyone's taste. I ordered the Wedge salad and the Southern Fried Chicken. It was delicious!Special Features:
- long time favoriteDebbieTVIPDined on 9/24/2014You can count on fine food and excellent service whenever you visit Breakwater! Parking is convenient. Reservations are easy. Love the menu! Portions are plenty without being too large. Great Happy Hour prices and drinks! Highly recommend this restaurant! Try the beignets for dessert.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Best Kept SecretDASHmomDined on 9/16/2014I really enjoyed my food and experience at Breakwater. The service was great we were treated like royalty. The manager/owner(?) was very nice and we enjoyed learning about the history of our drink. The complimentary valet parking was great. I will be back.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.

- First visit to the Greenville loc..BlueHawaii12Dined on 9/2/2014..Love the Beaufort location. Appetizer Sampler is the best way to help decide which entree fits your mood. Crispy fried oysters, fresh tuna tar tar with diced avocado (perfect), beef cappacio was tender loaded with flavor and the homemade Pimento Cheese -for me, a comfort food, with a kick. I beat the crowd dining early evening enjoying the friendly service. Grilled Cobia fish was the feature served with creamed spinch, green beans and carrots over a bed of creamy grits. Wonderful flavor, a white flaky fish.. most of which I enjoyed later as a midnight snack. Looking forward to my next visit.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Foodie Fest WinnerGreenvilleloverDined on 8/29/2014Tried Breakwater during Greenville Foodie Fest. The service was very friendly and knowledgable, and they were willing to share their own opinions on the menu choices.Special Features:
- Good promotionJ2dineDined on 8/28/2014We took advantage of Restaurant Week 3 for $30. Great way to introduce client to new dining experience.Set menu was large enough to offer several choices. Wait staff was helpful and gave excellent recommendations.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Our favorite restaurantWiggsDined on 8/27/2014This is the 2nd time we've been to Breakwater and it didn't disappoint. I had the chilli rubbed duck breast and it was perfection. The portions are just right. Everything is well prepared and well thought out. Overall great flavours and spice. We like that they aren't afraid to have some heat in their preparations. We've been to a couple of fine dining restaurants that have great looking entrees but lack flavor and spices. This is our new go to for a special nite out.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- SKATDined on 8/21/2014We try restaurants during Foodie Week and this one's a keeper. Fine Dining. Very Good Food.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Better options out thereOpenTable Diner Since 2010Dined on 8/21/2014We had a family dinner at Breakwater on 8/21 & though the food was good we did not feel any of it was worth the higher price you will pay here. This is only our 2nd time visiting Greenville, so we may have just gone on an off night, but we will be exploring the other restaurants Greenvillie has to offer on our next visit.
- Great addition to dining in G'villePhillJDined on 8/15/2014Great food, service and location. A little on the high side on price but the food and service was outstanding. Noise level was way too in Noisy, probably just the building itself. That would be my only recommendation. Try to find dome ways yo get the noise level down a little.Special Features:

- another good mealpastor4foodDined on 8/13/2014Always like dining at Breakwater. It is not too over the top yet stylish and the food is consistently very good. I find it is a great place to take guests from out of town as they get to see the whole of Greenvile North Main St - past the Peace Center and Falls Park area to the West End as you come. Always good to show off Greenville especially it's fine dining.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
- Great diningFoodie2Dined on 8/8/2014Very friendly, attentive staff and food was very fresh. The waitress recommended the special for the evening "wild white salmon" which was excellent and turned out to be the best meal. My husband had the pork ribeye which was equally as excellent, tender and perfect with the peach BBQ glaze. Definitely would go back again.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.
