  • "Busy night at the restaurant. Our table was close to the bar area, which was very busy. We had theatre tix, but they were on top of the service, making sure we wouldn't be late. Another waitress helped our waitress with the drink order, very pleasant. our waitress delivered them, but she seemed out of sort this eve. It did all work out. the food was delicious, and our waitress seemed to get more on top of it all. We did have a nice eve, great food, etc... We love this place, and will be back again."

  • "Great restaurant. We got confused and came in on the wrong date. Staff was accommodating and found us room in the bar. Room was modern and comfortable. Food was very tasty and memorable. Dessert was fantastic. Bar tender made creative drinks and made it a point to check in periodically with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I can't wait to go back."

  • "The short ribs were positively delightful -- a real standout. I'm not sure I've ever eaten anything so tender (no knife required). The apple-jalapeño purée was a nice blend of tartness and heat, and the rosemary crumbs added wonderful flavor and texture. The appetizers and desserts were also quite good, but they didn't quite measure up to the main. To top it off, we had the friendliest waitress imaginable, which made for a very pleasant dining experience."

  • "This was our first visit to Boston so after reviewing many restaurants for restaurant week we decided to try this one. We had the dinner pri fix menu and from start to finish We cleaned our plates. We had the salmon tartare, sweet pea soup, Crispy chicken, braised short ribs, & dessert. The ribs were cooked to perfection! The chicken was crispy and delicious. The entire staff catered to us including the manager who came to our table and spoke to us for several minutes. We will definitely return here on our next visit to Boston! This restaurant is a must try!"

The calamari appetizer and the BALT were lackluster and the pizza had a badly burned crust. The special corn ravioli and the chocolate pudding were delicious. Our waitress was loud, unrefined and bossy. Our party of three agreed that we would not go back."

  • "We were 45 minutes late for our reservation due to traffic and we only had 45 minutes to eat before getting to the theatre. They offered us a seat at the bar, told us to relax and they would take care of us. We each ordered a drink and our meal; enjoyed the drink (which the bartender half refilled at no charge!), the meal arrived on time, was delicious, and we made it to the play in time. We could not have asked for more!"

I ordered the seared scallops which were excellent, and my business partner ordered the beef tenderloin which came highly recommended.   • "the dinner started off on the wrong foot because of a horrible hostess.there were only two other tables in the restaurant.After being seated my mother was chilly and felt a draft.we assumed that it would not be a problem to make sure my mother was not cold. My fiancee asked the hostess if we could change tables and the hostess responded with a very offensive attitude and told her that there was no air conditioning on,like we offended her or she didn't understand that tall ceilings may create a draft.to top it off she asked a50yrold lady to switch seats with me with an empty restaurant.she left by telling my mom to wear a jacket.we will never becoming back cause of her.too bad cause i worked with MrBarros and imsure thats not his style..."

That being we had ordered an entree dish to be shared as an 2nd course and it was brought with the main entree. I'll lay that on possible miss-communication rather than a mistake on part of the staff. Excellent wine suggestion and our waitress was exceptionally personable and immediately likeable. A surprise plate of assorted small deserts for my brother, embellished with Happy Birthday in chocolate script on the plate was a hit."

  • "My meal was out of this world. The others with me were a little disappointed. I had the scallops sashimi appetizer. My main course was the lobster. I have never had a better meal. However, my dinner partners (wife, father, daughter, nephew) thought the meal was just okay. My personal experience was one of the best meals I have had in Boston in a long time. So, for me, this gets a 5. The others give it a 3.5. I think it is worth a try."

  • "Having dined at (and very pleased with) three of J-G's NYC restaurants, we wanted to like, but were very disappointed with the food at Market. Being based in the concept if using market fresh and available produce, we found the tomato salad tasted like cardboard and the accompanying raspberries overly seasoned. The chicken was nicely prepared if a bit lukewarm but the accompanying vegetables were overly buttered/oiled masking any freshness or taste. One plate that was nicely prepared as to portion, presentation and preparation was the Diver scallops. The dining room was quiet at an early, mid-week reservation. The room was nicely appointed and the host welcoming. Although "efficient", the service was annoyingly gushy."

During my search I stumbled upon Boston Magazine's 50 Best Restaurants list which is where I learned of Market by Jean-Georges. I visited several of the restaurant websites from that list, read numerous online reviews, and talked with co-workers before finally selecting Market. I was not disappointed with my choice. Market exceeded my expectations! The food was incredible! I enjoyed the pea soup & seared scallops; my BF had the short rib. And, service was great - very attentive and made thoughtful recommendations! I also love that they use seasonal locally produced ingredients - you can tell too because everything tastes very fresh! I highly recommend Market!"

  • "Went for a nice romantic dinner. The food is fantastic, the foie gras appetizer was tantalizing. Mint and cilantro with the beets and cream salad, added a nice twist. Service was a little bit inconsistent, we were approached by different servers asking the same questions within a minute of each other. This occurred multiple times and was a bit disorienting for an otherwise sophisticated, trendy restaurant."

  • "We went for Restaurant week. The pea soup; fabulous. The tuna tartar: very, very good. But both entrees were disappointing. The short rib was begging for some type of sauce/gravy. The salmon was cooked beautifully but bland. The potatoes it came with were incredible, tho. Here's where things get tricky. The raspberry 'cheesecake' was one of the most amazing and sensual things I have ever eaten. A shortbread cookie, a scoop of raspberry sorbet, a dollop of a sweet frozen mascapone, whipped cream and two sticks of raspberry meringue. Every bite was sensational...literally! So how do you treat a place that gave you several courses that were just okay and then finished you off with something you'll remember forever?"
