Diner Reviews
  • "Beautiful setting, wonderful ambiance, good food choices, wonderfully presented. Had the best crab cakes I think I've ever had and the Steak and Eggs. My friend had the Mushroom Leek soup and the Eggs Benedict... Everything was tasty and well presented. We opted for the two courses, the third included desert which we skipped, but were very tempted. I thought the pricing was a good value for what you get. And... museum members get a 15% discount! The Jazz Combo was very talented and perfect music for that time of day. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the museum on the weekend!"

  • "The only serious problem with this restaurant is that service is very slow, and its policy of holding places for those with reservations at the expense of walk-ins results in its being virtually empty. how can that be good business? I have attempted numerous times to dine there but only this time, because I made a reservation, was I able to. It's a puzzle!"

  • "Had dinner there on a Friday night before walking around the museum. Service was good and food was beautifully plated. I also loved the quiet spacious atmosphere with comfortable tables. But the steak was disappointing. We asked for medium and it came out rare. Sent it back but then it was dry and chewy. Since it was thick cut, perhaps it simply can't be cooked to medium. If so, we should have been told. The bass was better; beautifully plated, but not that great. Sides and sauces were delicious, though. Wine, hot rolls and mango sorbet were very nice. In general, I felt that the experience was good but that it has potential to be very good to great. Wound up feeling fortunate that we had my friend's 15% member discount."

  • "Service was extremely slow. We had to wait almost an hour for our main courses. Unacceptable. Menu choices were very good, but less good than in the past."

  • "The menu needs to improved. With the prices so high the food should be better."

  • "If you are looking to have brunch in a very civilized atmosphere, this is the place to dine. Set in the middle of the Museum of Fine Arts, along with live string music in the background, it's a pleasant experience. The food is delicious. The only issue was our server who was not very skilled. Plates were about to be removed before people finished and she wasn't familiar with the menu."

  • "MFA members wanting a very pleasant Friday afternoon or evening should consider an MFA visit combined with dinner at Bravo."

  • "I frequent the Bravo restaurant a a couple times a month. My daughter lives in the Fenway so we dine, lunch and brunch there frequently. Also I meet friends there and as a member and enjoy the discount and parking perks. The setting is open , calm and relaxed. The colors neutral but warm, it is very quiet and the the staff is very helpful!. Everything on the menu is expertly cooked arranged and is delicious. I especially love being surround by art. And it is wonderful to enjoy being at the museum at night. The parking makes it easy to meet friends. Keep up the good work! Sincerely, Abby Camp"

  • "I dine at Bravo 4 or 5 times a year. the food and Service has always been Outstanding. However, on Friday night we had a new waitress who has been on their catering staff. She seemed to be clueless, unable to get our drink order correct, didn't know there was a wine list (I guess that why she didn't charge us for the wine) and was generally unattentive throughout the evening. this is first visit on Friday evening so maybe the week day waiters and waitresses are the ones to be proud of. The whole staff including the Manager were all different than the last time at the Bravo"

  • "Enjoyed food and service in a lovely, updated and relaxed atmosphere. Had not been to restaurant in several years. Happy re-discovery! To think the MFA is open Wed-Fri until 9:45 PM...what a great opportunity to combine dinner and a visit. I look forward to trying lunch and brunch in future. P.S. Members get 15% discount on bill."

  • "Very creative, well prepared and presented food. Appetizers and entrees are varied and the choices adequate. Dessert was a treat also."

  • "I love the Museum of Fine Arts and was looking forward to trying Bravo. The waiters were wonderful and the restaurant provided a nice quiet place for conversation. I was disappointed in the interior, found it sterile with beige neutral/modern ambience. The food was average. Having said that it could have just been what I ordered that day. I used to go to the same restaurant before it changed name and decor and have to say I preferred the old."

  • "we had lunch -- food was wonderful. Server was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, but seemed also to be the bartender so he wasn't as attentive as I prefer."

  • "Wonderful Sunday Bruch wandered around the Museum then had a relaxed meal which was outstanding. Very comfortable seating, non rushed service. Perfect place for a special treat for yourself and family or friends."

  • "My friend and I had a reservation for 5:45 and found a nice table for 2 by the window in the bar. Being so early, it was quiet, quieter than when I'd had a marvelous brunch a year or so ago. My dinner of scallops with a walnut and chard risotto was perfect as was my friend's cod with a fennel bread pudding. Having the options of getting a 9 oz glass of wine instead of the usual 6 oz was a nice touch, too. We were not hungry enough for dessert--next time! And there will be a next time as the food here is prepared with the utmost care and creativity--and what a lovely way to end the afternoon among great art!"

  • "Bravo is the best-kept secret in Boston. It's in the Museum of Fine Arts and is convenient to Boston Symphony, the Huntington Theater and music at the New England Conservatory. The food was imaginative -- stuffed calamari, chicken with sausage, lemon-ginger mousse. All the courses were delicious. I definitely plan to come back. -- And, to top it off, parking is free!"

  • "This is a great place for fine dining after an afternoon in the museum. The ambiance is very plain for a restaurant providing fine dining, however, with widely spaced tables without table coverings in a plain and rather industrial-looking space. We had to flag down the maitre d' to get an order taken for drinks and water, and although assistants and waiters circled the room frequently, we received scant attention at our corner table. The food was delicious, but barely above room temperature. Service needs to be worked on at Bravo, but the discount on food and parking for museum members is a nice benefit."

  • "A good meal... Had a very nice waitress... but Bravo cookies are awful... too big and tasteless, the kind you could buy in the subway. You should get them off the menu as they undermine a very nice menu and attractive venue."

  • "Bravo is one of our favorites. We are never disappointed in the food or the rest of the experience. Much different than the experience we had the night before in Concord at Bondir."

  • "Perfectly beautiful extension of the Museum's beauty. Impeccable service, elegant setting (the understated center pieces were lovely -- art in bloom!), the bar selections ample (they have the hard to find Tanqueray 10!), the wine well-paired, and the food was delicious. This is our new favorite get-away, and even more reason to visit the Museum."

  • "How great to enjoy an hour or two at the MFA followed by a lovely dinner! My husband and I have vowed to do this at least once a month. The ambiance was terrific - nice light, quiet, and the menu selections excellent. The food was very good, and service attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed it."

  • "great service, lovely ambience but very little flexibility on menu for changes"

  • "Visit regularly. Never been disappointed yet. Thanks to the whole Bravo team."

  • "Very disappointed with the minimal menu options and the comparative cost of the meal. Some of the food choices were good (eggs benedict, banana french toast) but the fish chowder was only warm and unseasoned with mostly broth and potatoes. Compared to numerous other brunches in the Boston area, this did not meet our expectations. Would not return or recommend."

  • "The restaurant was about half full, and quiet., and the food was good, and delivered quickly. Service was polite, efficient, and very tolerant of our long lunch, not even commenting when we pulled out computers."
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "We were looking forward to a pleasant and tasty lunch, but the food was either tasteless or badly seasoned. Although there weren't many diners, there were long periods of time where we didn't see our waiter."

  • "A wonderful place in the midst of a beautiful museum. The food was really different with unexpected combinations- really fresh ingredients. I would recommend Bravo to anyone."

  • "My husband and I ate dinner at Bravo before attending a movie at MFA. When we explained our time constraints, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The food, wine, coffee were all excellent. I would definitely return, probably before or after attending some other MFA event, but possibly as a destination meal. The free parking at MFA certainly helps but in our case, made me a few minutes late for our reservation because the parking entrance arm malfunctioned and I had to wait for an attendant to arrive and open the gate."

  • "Our food was great but it was hard to get inside/park as non-museum go-ers, and our waitress was a bit slow (we were trying to catch a show at Huntington Theater). But a nice setting overall and again the entrees and sides were quite good. If you are not in a rush and are going to the Museum anyway, it's perfect."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Thank you for adapting the wine list. I feel you should have many more reasonable price choices. The entre was good but expensive for the small portion. Also the menu did not match the "winter menu" that was advertised online. We had a good time, coming from Hope Lodge where one quest was being treated for cancer. But many do not want to spend so much to get so little in this day and age."

  • "We had an outstanding brunch at the MFA's Bravo. The food was outstanding; the tuna nicoise was a treat. The dining area is very spacious so you felt you had your own space. The service was attentive and friendly. We had such a fine time that we resolved to go back soon."

  • "The food just gets better and better at Bravo. The menu is varied and the offerings are original and beautifully cooked. The wait staff is warm and professional and the ambience is attractive, comfortable, and just quiet enough (even with music) to be able to have a conversation in a normal tone of voice. It is a great neighborhood restaurant."

  • "Not accommodating to special dietary needs. Toughest steak I ever triedntomeat. Pretentious food that was not very good."

  • "My husband & I had a wonderful dinner at Bravo. High banquette seating in a big room - divided in two by a large, semi-transparent curtain - with spread-out seating makes for calm, quiet dining. Food was superb - nicely presented and delicious. Service was excellent. Our waitperson Paul was outstanding, knowledgeable & alert. It's a luxury to be able to look at great exhibits, then simply walk to a delicious & well-served dinner in this lovely restaurant."

  • "Can you imagine eating delicious food, with good service in a pretty room and being able to carry on a conversation with ease? That is Bravo and well worth the price!"

  • "After a couple of very unpleasant experiences at Bravo - this visit was fabulous.... Our waiter was attentive but never intrusive - the food was delicious. Thanks so much."

  • "My husband and I been here several times and consider having lunch at Bravo part of going to the MFA. This one time,I came alone and found myself stuck off to the side, next to a large, noisy group, and the service was particularly non-attentive. Sad."

  • "Bravo is an outstanding restaurant that just happens to be located at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Dining at Bravo is a wonderful addition to a MFA experience, but is also a worthy destination just for a fine dining experience. If someone in your party is a MFA Member, you'll enjoy the Member's discount."
