Diner Reviews
  • "Have been here several times since they opened. Had high hopes but it is just ok - I was hoping to have a great go-to restaurant in P Hill but this one will not be it."

  • "After having several bad experiences with food (served luke-warm) & service at this restaurant, we stopped going here about two years ago. Some friends suggested that we re-visit this restaurant since they had recently eaten there & were quite happy with it. We agreed and gave it another try. Sadly, we WILL NOT be returning. While the service was very good, and the food quite tasty, once again much of the meal was tepid when it arrived. That was the same complaint I had with this establishment the last THREE times we ate there. And now, even the portions were quite small. There are too many other restaurants that are priced similarly, or less, and serve more generous portions. Our friends agreed as well and won't be returning either.."

  • "I don't know if the owners/managers/whomever had an emergency or if they suddenly went out of business. The place was dark, locked and definitely closed. They are supposed to open at 11, our reservation was for 12 and there was definitely no one there. I tried calling too and it rang twice, a weird beep sounded and then it disconnected. Definitely a disappointment!"

  • "Wonderful place in an unlikely location. Right at the corner of two major roads in Concord, CA.. but once inside it's another world. High level service, romantic and warm ambiance and really inventive and tasteful dishes. This is Italian classic cuisine with a North African influence."

  • "We've been here at least 8 or 9 times ... This visit was a total disappointment. The ravioli tasted old and was hard on the edges the paella was completely dried out. Had this been our 1st visit it would absolutely be our last. We will give it another try to see if it was just an "off" night"

  • "It was our first dining experience at Bravo Bistro, but the worst. They were overbooked, under-staffed, worst service ever. The purpose of making reservation ahead of time was so that we did not have to wait for a table, but we got there and still had to wait for our table, so it showed that they were overbooked. Waitress took forever to serve our soup, salad, entrees and desserts. Other tables ordered after we did, but they got their food first and we got our food the last. Bad service!. We would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. It was our first and last dining there."

  • "Staff appeared totally unprepared for a busy Valentine's day resulting in a poor experience for everyone. Heard several complaints from other patrons as well. Not a good experience at all. Fixed price menu at $50 per person set higher expectations which were not met."

  • "The restaurant is small and tucked away in a non-descriptive Pleasant Hill strip. It definitely has potential as the food reflects a modern take on Italian cuisine, and the atmosphere is cozy. There was a party going on in the other half, so maybe that accounts for the slow service. In terms of ambiance, visually it was fine, but in a Northern California cold front, they had a hard time keeping us warm."

  • "Bravo again! The Ceasar salad is the best I've ever tasted, just perfect ! The Bruschetta toast with artichokes, marinated red peppers, feta and three other cheeses is wonderful with there great wine selection. The lamb shank falls off the bone with no need for a knife! They take pride in there food and service, a real local gem. We will be coming back to enjoy their well prepared meals!"

  • "I have been to Bravo Bistro many times and the food is always top notch, I really enjoy their nightly specials. The Chef, Hamid recently won best chef in the Concord Mayor's k off."

  • "Dinner was great with one exception. The Lobster Bisque soup came out of the kitchen almost cold (luke warm). We sent it back to have it warmed up with assurances that it would be taken care of. About 5 minutes later the soup was brought back to our table and it was at the same temperature as when it was first served! Obviously no one paid much attention to our complaints about the warm soup and they offered to warm it again. By this time we decided it wasn't going to get any warmer so we skipped the soup as we were getting hungry and jumped on to the salad! All the rest of the meal was served correctly and hot and the dinner was quite good. I would go back again and hope that it was just an isolated incident!"

  • "One of the few places open for Christmas day dinner. It had a decent selection of differing menu items. The food was good, and the service was excellent. A bit hard to find even with GPS, as it is only accessible by traveling North on Contra Costa Blvd, and is not where you would suspect to find food in a commercial environment, but is very close to the mall. The parking lot is very small, a single lane entry, and yet has a valet, but perhaps this is due to the potential overflow parking from the mall or other businesses."

  • "I took my 84 year old father here for Christmas dinner. He can be a handful and the staff was wonderful - friendly, courteous, sweet, thoughtful. On top of this, the good was excellent, the service quick, and the restaurant was lovely. Very highly recommended!"

  • "Took my 87 year old Aunt to Bravo Bistro for Christmas meal. What a treat, the menu was outstanding for a holiday and the food was great. They brought out hot fresh baked bread that I could have eaten and nothing else! I had the crab stuffed Ravioli with tomato cream sauce that was delicious! My aunt had the fettuccine with sausage that she ate with a smile on her face! Wine list was very varied in whites and reds and a beautiful full bar. I must say, the Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever eaten. Bravo Bistro is a real gem for Concord!"

  • "Our waitress was excellent but the cook took nearly an hour to cook it. The stuffed salmon was good but the ravioli was horrible and the creamy pasta dish was really bland."

  • "We had a very enjoyable Christmas dinner. The food was excellent, lots of good choices for a nice meal..I had lamb shanks which were delicious, fall off the bone tender, my friend had the crab raviolis and practically licked the plate..the service was slower than usual, but it was very busy and we were not at all in a hurry...there was live Christmas music on the piano, so we enjoyed the Christmas background music and our server was helpful, and very engaging..she really seemed to be enjoying herself and was very outgoing and friendly. we enjoy their food, they do a terrific job and we will most definitely go again..."

  • "This little gem was open for Christmas. I made last minute reservations and they squeezed us in. The atmosphere was great with a live piano player. The food was good and took a little longer to come out than expected, but they were very busy for the holiday. The servers were extremely friendly. They had kids cups and tailored the menu for my 6 year old son. What a find! I love this place!"

  • "They squeezed 11 people into a little area. They put these big plates on the table with just a little bit of food... Which is ok on the food if it is good but the plates are just stupid they didn't all fit on the table."

  • "Love to come here on the weekend because they have a piano player! Good food too."

  • "It's an unremarkable location, but would have to be considered a real find. The food was quite good, but what stood out was the welcoming service and attentiveness. The entire staff made my date and I feel right at home, almost as if we were being welcomed into the family. Our server was so personable, our needs were checked on constantly by the whole staff. A gentleman, who I took to be the owner (though I didn't ask), spoke to us at length about the dishes and was really great fun to spend some time with. This appears to be a family operation....they take great pride in their establishment and they go out of there way to make the visit a very good and memorable one. I was most pleased with the visit and I'm sure to be back."

  • "We recently celebrated my husbands birthday with a party of 20. Everyone had a great time! A server sang happy birthday in Italian. The piano player added a whole level to the experience playing songs we could sing and dance along to. The service was great and the food was pretty good especially with such a large party. We brought our own cakes and they even added decorations and candles. We opted for the cake plating fee. Every plate was decorated with a different design. We will definitely go back! Thank you bravo bistro!"

  • "Bravo Bistro had a buffet for Thanksgiving which I was unaware of. We were a party of 3 that were handicapped. The server was so kind to assist us with our plates so we could select the buffet. They had a huge spread of many different selections. I would have really enjoyed eating just the usual Thanksgiving food. The turkey was moist and delicious and a also enjoyed the stuffing . There was no apple pie or pumpkin pie. There were many items displayed (bananas, watermelonetc) but were getting brown by sitting out. Some of the items were too rich for our taste. We had great service and it was real nice having a piano player singing while we were eating."

  • "This was a perfect choice for white table cloths, a piano player and omelette maker. Plenty of kids were there, so I didn't feel awkward with my 2 year old grandson. The service was excellent and the food was great."

  • "Have had nice meals here in the past, but felt the food this time had no flavor. Was disappointed - will probably try again."

  • "The ambience is nice inside. I'd suggest they close the curtains. There is a main street right outside and pedestrians in full view. The pianist/singer was great. The wait staff was attentive but not too knowledgeable about the menu. It took over an hour for our dinner to come out. I watched diners being seated as we worked on our appetizer receive their entrees before ours. When one of the waiters noticed, he told me our dinners were coming right out. They came out about 10 minutes later. I'm not sure how "right out" translates to 10 minutes. The quality of food was ok. The seafood was overcooked and didn't taste fresh."
    Dined on 11/8/2013
  • "Food quality far below what is promised in a menu whose ambition exceeds their ability to execute. Not bad - just not very good - and priced according to "good" so a disappointing value. No surprise it was empty at lunch - perhaps everything gets better at dinner? I don't think I will return to find out ..."

  • "We've wanted to try this place for some time. Sadly once we tried it, it was a disappointment. I had the spinach ravioli, which were barely edible. I had requested their Bolognese sauce: it was truly awful. The other dishes we were served were at best fair, which is why I have given a poor rating overall. The service was polite and earnest, but incompetent. The restaurant was nearly empty, but our wait for anything was incredibly long. I would not recommend the restaurant, nor would I return."

  • "We were disappointed that the noise level at 7:30 P.M. was so noisy in the restaurant area that we had to shot across the talbe to hear each other. While my food was good my husbands was just o.k. Perhaps I will bring a girlfriend for lunch to give it another try."

  • "We arrived and were overwhelmed with immediate service, water, napkin placement etc. A waitress then went through a lengthly specials list. We ordered ice tea for the wife and a drink for me which we delivered quickly. My wifes tea was flavored with a strong scent that we had smelled before, but couldn't identify and it tasted terrible! Returned it to the waitress, no other tea available so she choose water. We then ordered an appetizer and dinner. Appetizer was good. I had a rack of lamb for dinner, 3 chops which was very good. My wife had fettuccine alfredo, sauce was soupy and not tasty. No dessert. Service great, prices reasonable, but no a resturant I would choose to go back to, nor send a "friend" to."
