I didn't have very high expectations, but it turned out to be a really memorable dining experience. Our server was friendly and down-to-earth. The restaurant decor was lovely and modern. The bar was quite lively and a little loud, but we were just fine at our table. We enjoyed the superb crab cakes, scallops, and whole fish - all were delicious! And for dessert, the chocolate beignets were a cute and yummy surprise treat. Arrived at 5:30 and the bar was rocking - mostly young(er) professionals. Service was very attentive and food was excellent, with a number of dishes I hadn't seen before elsewhere. Decor is a little dull - simple booths around the walls surrounding an uninspired, '60s-looking dining area with basic white, retro chairs and no 'pop'. This is pne of the most beautifully designed spaces in the city and worthy of its place in the iconic Seagrams building. Entering the dining room down a stairway leads to well spaced tables and booths. A warm welcome, professional service, surprising wine selections and well prepared food all make the evening special. Last night the lamb medallions and Bronzino were perfectly accompanied with a side of creamed spinach. I chose it for Mother's Day because they offered a $49 prix-fixe with a complementary Kir Royale for mom (me)! The menu choices were exactly as shown online, and they were all so enticing that it was difficult to choose---in every course! That's not usually the case with a set menu where I've often found only one choice in each category to stand out. Everything we ordered was superb. I remember the original Brasserie, and love the way it has been updated. It's stunning. I literally couldn't hear my server (who has been my server, completely audibly, many times before). Unfortunately, I also couldn't hear my client, who was sitting about 3 feet away from me.
