Diner Reviews
  • "We went for a special celebration and I must say that we were treated wonderfully. We were a party of 9 and I was concern with the service. Everything came out in time and perfectly cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend the restaurant! We will be back!!!"

  • "Had one of the $ 35 prix fixe dinner. The price was very reasonable. The food (onion soup, grilled dorado and lemon tarte) was ok but not great. Our waiter was very friendly but absolutely untrained. I don't think I will come there next time."

  • "Every trip to the City I visit Brasserie. For 25 years it has been a pleasure. Mostly known to locals not tourists it has both classic French and modern French cuisine. A nice wine list, great bar, and comfortable seating enhances the excellent food and service."

  • "The brunch was very reasonably priced and the service was excellent. The eggs benedict was not great, but otherwise the meals was wonderful."

  • "I have been to this restaurant several times and have always been very pleased with the quality of the food and the attentive but not intrusive service. It has very good variety in menu choices and the wine list. I recommend it to friends and will return again."

  • "Brasserie had a nice happy hour menu to cater to the after-work crowd. The room was spacious so you don't feel as if you are eating on top of people."

  • "It was a family gathering and the Brunch was terrific, excellent service and a very friendly staff. Good and imaginative choices and plenty to eat. My Eggs Benedict was one of the best I have had and came with three eggs, the Chicken Sausage was absolutely delicious. Don't go before Noon if you want a Bellini, Bloody Mary or an Alcoholic Beverage."

  • "They have a great deal: brunch on Sunday for $19 you get either a Mimosa or bloody Mary then your choice of an appetizer and your choice of an entrée for $19. Plus a baguette and French butter to share"

  • "This restaurant is located in the middle of Broadway's theater district. The menu has great Asian options and the bar has an energetic vibe. Great choice for a pre-theater drink or after-theater meal."

  • "I miss Kugelhopf, Gene Shalit at the counter and the knowledgeable waiters. Brought our friends visiting from London for brunch. Sweet but overwhelmed service, had to ask 3 times for tomatoes for lox plate, which arrived after lunch. Waiter talked about "watering us" (bringing water)? Busboy asked if we wanted more bread and when we said now, he took away both the French bread and the basket of pastries we paid for. Must have been asked 15 times about more drinks, because it took so long for the food to arrive. Rubbery, tasteless omelette. Sad, sad, sad."

  • "Gee-rememember Brasserie? We had forgotten it but took a walk east from the theatre district to have dinner here. Such a pretty place, glass and steel, wood accents, might sound cold but the feel is warm and inviting. The wine list was better than most moderately priced restaurants usually offer. The service was professional and thoughtful. It may have been a little too attentive, "Give us a few minutes." All four of us enjoyed our dinner choices. My husband loved the tuna tartare appetizer and the fish entree were especially good. We all decided to return soon again. Check out the 3 course price fix dinner."

  • "It's not noise as many NYC restaurants. Good place for meeting"

  • "The least ostentatious and most comfortable of the Patina Group chain, this longtime NY fixture has not lost any of its class or quality. If you can go before April 1, steal a dozen mixed oysters for $12! The seafood is as fresh as the preparations. Pricing is dear but fair considering the neighborhood- go, you'll love it!"

  • "Brasserie has sustained it's attractiveness for good reason. It's convenient. It's atmosphere is very appealing - especially for a business lunch. The food and service are consistently good. Great place!"

  • "We love the Brasserie. The staff are accommodating and friendly, the food delicious, the decor modern, clean and fun at the same time. Our group all loved their dinner appetizers, entrees, and desserts. And of course the bread and butter!!! We return to the Brasserie whenever we are in NYC either for dinner, lunch, and of course, breakfast or brunch."

  • "I try to get to Brassiere every time I visit NYC. I prefer to sit at a table or booth on the periphery; being seated at the tables in the middle can feel frenetic but no matter where you sit the food and service are top-notch"

  • "We tried this restaurant during restaurant week and we had a great time. Our waiter was polite, offered great suggestions and his attitude didn't change when we told him we would order from the restaurant week menu (we have been to restaurants where the attitude changes once you ask for the restaurant week menu). He checked on us during the meal-the food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious!"

  • "My 3 nieces were in town from Florida and I chose Brasserie as the venue to take them to for some great food and service. You completely surpassed all of our expectations. Andrasz and Kareem were typically lovely and attentive to us....andvery dashing. Eric the waiter was so wonderful and explained everything to us with much care....and the ladies LOVED him. My niece has an issue with gluten and Eric was more than attentive when it came to assuring us that it was not an issue. The food was all delicious and served seamlessly and quickly. We LOVED it all!"

  • "This place serves classic seventies French cuisine. It was was a butter laden delicious departure from today's overly trendy healthy farm to table organic fare I eat so often in San Francisco. I loved it."

  • "I like the dining room and the grand entrance from the front desk down into the dining room. The restaurant week menu offered a nice choice, and the wine list is reasonably priced. We were a group of 6, and we had a good time. Final bill including tax, tip and half a bottle of wine each was $80."

  • "After canceling 3 times because of snow, met my out of town friends at Brasserie, where we spent the evening in pleasant surroundings, good food, and excellent service. The 38.00 pre fix menu had excellent choices as well as the regular menu. So nice to be able to have a conversation without having to yell as in some restaurants. Give it a try. I'm sure you will have a very enjoyable evening."

  • "Brasserie lives up to it's long-held reputation for fine dining in a lovely setting. Food is always very good though tables are somewhat tightly together. Our restaurant Meal was very good put main course portions were to small for a good meal. Starters and deserts were just great."

  • "We had an 8pm reservation on a Wednesday during restaurant week. The main Dining room was full and it was very loud, conversation was almost impossible. As the restaurant emptied it was a more tolerable level. We may go back but maybe at an off hour. The food was very good but nothing stood out as being fantastic. The baguette was perfect served with French butter. The decor seemed almost 70's retro (I remember the 70's), but the chairs were comfortable and I really liked the tables."

  • "Came here with a party of 4 for Restaurant Week dinner. This place was highly recommended by friends of ours so we figured it must be really good....Half the tables were empty and it was a Saturday night. Waiter was nice enough, but the food was a mixed bag. One of us ordered scallops, which wasn't bad. I had the short rib, but it was a watered down version of beef stew. The third person had the fish fillet, but it was still raw inside! Then the fourth person had steak and he asked for medium rare, but it was RARE! When the first plate came, we asked the server what it was and he said he didn't know! Enough said...."

  • "We arrive early and immediately were seated. Many selections were available for Restaurant Week. I loved the short ribs and my friend enjoyed her salmon!! Staff was very professional and helpful, AND we weren't rushed. Only suggestion would be to have slightly larger portions of vegetables with entrée."

  • "Appetizers were great, as was dessert. Scallops were pretty small considering they only gave 3 (hardly "sea scallops") and were overcooked and not super fresh tasting, so the entree was disappointing. Service was efficient and in the background but she never came to check on us and make sure we were alright. Not sure it was worth the restaurant week price, let alone what they normally charge. Not bad, but nothing special."

  • "The restaurant was softly lit and very comfortable. The service was beyond excellent; each waiter and waitress provided us with attentive service. The courses were served with ample time to complete each and the servings were a perfect size."
