  • "We ordered the steamed lobster which is easy to overcook; however, it was perfect and a good size as well. Nikhil was an excellent server who checked on us often as well as the managers did. All of the food we had was excellent, but the lobster was delightful. The design of the restaurant was such as to minimize noise. The tables are not close together and the restaurant is well lighted. We did not sit at the bar, but it appeared to well patronized by regulars. There are booths and tables. If you want a booth, recommend you request it when you make your reservation as they are somewhat limited. The chairs at the tables are comfortable. Food prices are reasonable."

  • "This is THE perfect midtown place for breakfast, brunch or lunch! Service is top-notch, space is beautiful, food is fabulous, coffee is the best in the city, and my out of town friend and I had an opportunity to catch up in a wonderful, warm environment where we could actually hear each other. No one rushed us out. The calm and tranquility in the midst of midtown is a balm to one's NYC soul."

  • "The atmosphere at Brasserie was not at all what we expected, given the name, it looks more like a retro airplane interior than a French bistro. The food was very good, the service was not. We brought our 4 kids, who are willing to try different foods, and they loved the mussels and frites. I would recommend this place to people who want good food in a very loud atmosphere."

The staff seemed perturbed that we had the audacity to arrive after the breakfast rush and actually order breakfast. It won't stop me from coming back; I just will never do it at that time."

Orders were forgotten or misunderstood. All was rather slow, and the place was not even busy, check had incorrect charges.... Once a favorite spot, I would no longer recommend it... Sorry!"

  • "Perhaps the best brunch value EVER. The Brasserie offers a two course $20.00 brunch on weekends. A group of friends and I had the pleasure of their food/service/ambiance this past weekend. The restaurant is located in the historic Seagrams' Bldg on Park Avenue (its "sister" restaurant is the iconic Four Seasons) and has been there for decades. It has been updated with the times and provides a large airy space with generously sized tables (actually it houses two such dining spaces ). I choose a yellow and red beet salad with a generous serving of excellent goat cheese. A freshly baked, warm baguette was the perfect accompaniment. Perfectly prepared eggs Benedict topped off the meal. I had a complimentary bloody Mary - perfect! "

On a recent visit the mustard-crusted trout was a standout, and a decent value paired with a glass of Loire Valley wine for $30. Great standbys include the frisee au lardons and the lobster bisque, both among the best around. Service is competent though some of the servers could do with just a bit more personal connection to the table, as the service can feel a little transactional. Overall though, a really solid place and will keep coming back for more. "
