We chose Brasserie Ruhlmann because of it's location as we needed to entertain important clients in from the LA. It was a big hit. The ambiance was elegant, sophisticated, a bit of art-deco and old world New York, right in the heart of Rockefeller Center. Food and service were perfection. We will definitely return and hope to have an equally good experience in the future!

We went for the Restaurant Week dinner, and it was a good three-course meal--I had the mushroom ravioli (which was really a bowl of mushroom puree over one ravioli, but better than it sounds), the chicken with mashed potatoes (sounds simple but the sauce made it special), and the chocolate pudding (really more of a pudding cake, very good indeed). I didn't expect the wine, coffee, and tip to double the prix fixe price--but the wine and coffee were both excellent. I wouldn't mind going back for lunch sometime.

If you don't mind spending $25 on a ham and cheese sandwich, and know that that bread, cheese and ham will be beyond outstanding, then this is the place for a lunch. Located across from the Rockefeller Center rink/tree Ruhlmann probably gets some tourists shocked by the sticker prices. For the money on a business lunch it is fairly priced. The service was prompt and polite. Portions were good. I will definitely be back when in the neighborhood.

We were in NYC for New Year's Eve And wanted a memorial experience for our girls, 13 and 10, (away from the time square craze) and we got it! The restaurant sits in front of the tree in Rockefeller Center. It is beautifully decorated. Our server was fantastic engaging the girls and making their special night all about them. The food was wonderful. We could not have asked for a better experience. It is one my girls will be remembering and talking about for years to come!

For the first time in 10 years, most of my family was able to be together for the holidays. I made reservation for dinner before the theatre. The service was outstanding! Our server was very cordial and helpful. He knew all the cocktails and wines on the menu. He also knew the menu to the last detail. The food? Fantastic. I had the beef tartare. Highly recommend it. I then followed it up with the Skate. Everyone was thrilled with Ruhlmann's: the ambiance, the service, the location, and certainly the food. I definitely recommend it to all.

While our waiter was sympathetic to our gluten-free plight, he and the restaurant made no suggestions, and all the kitchen did as an accomodation was provide a sauceless, unadorned fish with no reduction in the high price of the dish. Disappointing and not recommended for those needing gluten-free cuisine.

Very nice it was very busy and that was to be expected. The hostess was great . Are table was ready we had a nice view of the christmas tree as requested also a spot reserved for our son who is in a wheelchair as requested. Service was a little slow however we did not mind because we were talking with family that we have not seen in some time. One meal was not what we expected and they were very kind to take it off the bill. All other meals were great. I do like this place because of the location. best in summer because the outside is very large and is across the street from Rock Center. Will go back again.

I had the best onion soup - and it came with perfect view of the Rockefeller Christman tree. Who could ask for anything more on a cold night in December. Crowds outside...if they only knew just how warm and inviting Brasserie Ruhlmann was inside. Ok, so my sushi was not quite the thing to order after the filling and fabulous soup, but I cannot wait to return to try other items on the menu.

We were spending a pre-Xmas day in the city. We were going to end at Rockefeller Center and wanted to find a spot nearby. Reviews on Open Table were excellent so decided to give it a try. Asked for views of the tree, and got it without question. Service was fabulous, food was wonderful. Quite a gem in the "tourist" area and definitely not the typical tourist trap. Turned out to be the perfect place to dine and end a perfect day in the city. Atmosphere quite nice, maitre'd was welcoming, warm and accomodating. Great dinner - loved the lobster mac and cheese, fish tacos, short ribs, hanger steak - everything was delicious and beautifully presented.

We were in the city for the Dec. 21st Saturday Night Live show. The tickets came only one week prior, I had little time to find a restaurant - I heard that there may be rain on the way so I searched for a restaurant near 30 Rock. We were welcomed immediately to a friendly staff. We love French cuisine but I felt the menu was limited, the food good but not great. I would probably go somewhere else if given the chance to go for French food again. Our server was knowledgeable and nice. I asked for foie gras (a staple) and they didn't serve it. We ordered the cheese plate for two, my wife and I both ordered fish dishes and had two drinks a piece. With tip - $233. A bit pricey for what we received.

We went here for lunch with several children after the Radio City Christmas show and they were so kind to us all -- really stellar service. The maitre d' kept checking on us, and was truly concerned when my son didn't eat all of his tempura sushi, even offering to make something else for him. There was something delicious on the menu for all and best off all we had a gorgeous uninterrupted view of The Tree. Plus is wasn't loud at all. Lunch here during the holidays will surely be repeated.

This is a pricey restaurant in a pricey neighborhood: Rockefeller Center. As a one-time event at this time of year, Christmas, it's a great place to be. The restaurant is on the plaza level and our table gave us an excellent view of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. The ambience is strictly commercial. The food was good but not exceptional and service was good considering that the restaurant was quite busy.

Went with sweetheart wife of 31 years this past Sunday. It was a special anniversary brunch, after 10;00 AM mass at Saint Patrick's cathedral. I had the French onion soup, and the eggs Benedict, with a bloody Mary and champagne. My wife had a nice garden salad, with champagne and ice water. We finished with a chocolate tort type dessert (Well, fessing up, I did!) The atmosphere was elegant, the service very attentive, but unobtrusive. The bill was near $170, with a 20% tip. Expensive, but you're at Rock Center, two Sundays before Christmas! We felt it's a very nice, special occasion restaurant. It's been a go to place for us twice in the past three years. (Last year, our 30th anniversary, was spent in Paris. No New York trip last year.)

We snuck in a wonderful two hour cocktail and dinner date between our holiday viewing of the Rockefeller Center tree and ice skaters, and a raucous night of laughter at Kinky Boots. It's easy to walk from the Ruhlmann through the vibrant Times Square crowds to the theaters. Our cocktails were chilled to perfection, the dinner was very good (actually much better than I thought it might be) and the chocolate macaron dessert was truly exceptional. The staff were very attentive and yet non- intrusive. We dined at our leisure. Next time we are in Rockefeller Center we will go back for another bite.

Came this time with 8 mo old son and a bit disappointed in no accommodations for children (ie changing, chair) ok NP I get it (but still)The reason for lack of stars is our waiter. I would consider unfriendly, phony, not very good on every level. I was surprised (not the norm here)

Upon arrival the main entrance was closed and we were redirected. We were greeted by the coat check girl... Stood for 6 minutes and had to ask to be seated . The tables were so close together my sister had to lift her arm over her handbag to eat her food. I had to get up... Pull out the table and let her out to use the ladies room, and follow the same procedure for her to get back in. I will never go back. The best part of our experience was our waiter. Brasserie Ruhlmann at Christmas time wouldn't necessarily be your first choice, especially for a native New Yorker, given its location in Rockefeller Center. However, with an out of town guest it was my restaurant of choice. On a very busy Saturday night, they offered fine food (onion soup is excellent) and great service. What impressed the most was that the maitre'd came over to give me the bill and indicated that the dessert was on the house since they were late in bringing the requested cheese to the table. Admittedly, delivery of the cheese was not problematic for me. However, thought it was very thoughtful and certainly appreciated that they noticed.

The Brasserie was kind enough to take us in early and give us the table with the view of the tree that I had requested. The service was outstanding. The food was good. At first I had ordered crab cake and they came back to tell me they were out of it. My wife ordered a fish entree and wasn't as impressed. I was impressed with the variety of the wines they sold by the glass. My only complaints would the fact that the menu was limited and they were out of something on the menu and did not tell us when they seated us. The noise level was higher than I had expected. I was disturbed by the gratuity suggested on the bill. It said recommended gratuity 18%, but the amount they recommended was more than 20% gratuity.

The service was a disappointment. After taking our order the server disappeared and we had to seek out other servers for condiments, drink refills etc. We did not receive a glass of wine that we ordered with dinner and had to ask for it twice before it was finally served. We had to wait more than 30 minutes after finishing appetizers for our entrées to arrive. The appetizers arrived promptly but our 3 course dinner took about 2 hours. I ordered the Seafood Putenesca that was to include scallops, but it did not have any scallops. The dish cost $32 and I had 2 small shrimp, 2 clams with shells that were broken and 4 mussels. My daughter had the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp had no flavor and were mushy in texture.

i picked the restaurant because of the location to THE CHRISTMAS TREE area. I wanted to take my two grandchildren to brunch/lunch. I would have preferred brunch menu as we had a noon reservation. The food and service were fine but I did not want to spend the amount of money that I did for lunch. We we going to a show afterwards and would have preferred a less expensive menu. Even a simple hamburger was $22. It was my fault for not checking out the prices on the menu.
    Special Features:
great for brunch, kid-friendly, great for lunch, special occasion
