Diner Reviews
  • "The food here is always very good and very overpriced!"

  • "What a dinner, good from beginning to end. Seafood plate, excellent. Cheese plate, delightful. Lamb chops very tender, Dover Sole, perfectly prepared. Coffee and cookies, spot on. Our waiter Guadalupe made the dinner perfect. Very quiet and intimate inside, exciting and vivacious outside dining."

  • "This is my favorite place for brunch in the city. I normally order the classic Ruhlmann salad accompanied by a glass of mimosa. This time I ordered the chocolate profiteroles for dessert, which were filled with vanilla ice cream. So tasty! The service was phenomenal, as always. A+++"

  • "Outdoors was much busier and louder so we opted for indoors where is was really quite. The food was good, nothing particular to rave about - something you could easily obtain from any French restaurant in the city. Not completely sure why they have sushi? Seemed a bit random. Servers were a bit over attentive, and cared a little too much about tip, so that dragged the experience down a bit."

  • "I went for New York Restaurant Week with three friends. The location at Rockefeller Plaza was great, especially because we were able to get a table outside. However, the portion of steak that my friend and I got was comically small. I understand that restaurant week is a special promotion, but they should've at least mentioned that it was so tiny. It was literally 6 bites of steak. The chicken dish was a bit more reasonable. The appetizer and dessert were very good though. Food was good and I can only speak for restaurant week, but don't expect much food if you're on the prix fixe menu."

  • "I went there with my boyfriend during restaurant week. Even though my chicken entree was plenty for me and very good, the steak entree was very very small for my boyfriend. He is not a hugh eater, but his plate was not quite a meal. If there were more of the vegetables on the dish, I'm sure that would have made a big difference. Other then this, the rest of the meal was very nice and fulfilling."

  • "Wonderful outdoor dinner overlooking Rockefeller Center plaza. Pleasant service and interesting menu."

  • "Took my daughter there for her 24th birthday. We sat inside and the we were able to have a conversation as the restuarant was not noisey at all, this is great when dining with family and friends, you are able to have a conversation. The waiter was very accomodating and made sure we did not have to sit a long time waiting for service."

  • "Best outdoor dining around, consistently excellent food and service."

  • "Brasserie Ruhlmann is never a disappointment. Food is excellent, the Rhubarb desert was outstanding, Service is attentive but not intrusive. Best of all if one goes on Thursdays they have "Lapin au Moutarde" (Rabbit in Mustard sauce) That dish is worth a trip to New York City from up state. Not expensive and great mid-town location."

  • "I have been here before and liked it. This time was the opposite. There was margarine instead of butter for hard cold rolls. When I complained, nothing was done. This was Restaurant Week, and the prix fixe menu, for $ 38, was also the Restaurant Week menu-- that does not seem right. The cold tomato soup was okay, the chicken was dry, the mussels (we were 3 for dinner) were shriveled. The desserts were good, however, but did not make up for the slow service and lousy food. I won't go back."

  • "The food and ambience here is always very good. Consider rotating specials a bit more, and try to have a more extensive bar food menu. The staff is always pleasant although can be a bit overworked during peak meal times."

  • "Brasserie Ruhlmann is one of my favorite place in all of NYC! Its unparalleled location on Rock Center only adds to how great the food, service, ambiance and overall experience is to begin with. And if the weather cooperates, eating outside makes it even more special!"

  • "We dined prior to a show at Radio City, perfect location. The dinner was perfect from start to finish. The onion soup was the best I have eaten in 20+ years and the Hangar steak was delicious. Since we had time before the show we lounged and had a plate of delicious cookies (includes more than cookies) and an espresso for a great end to the meal. Service was spot on. The only difficulty is shimmying to your table if you are sitting outside. Highly recommend"

  • "The place was completely empty. We ordered wine and had to return the wine twice due to an intense amount of white napkin remnants on the glass from hand drying them. There was literally fuzz everywhere in the glass, the wine, EVERYWHERE. The food was OK, however, I was served the wrong sushi roll (I didn't say anything after returning the wine twice). Will never go back."

  • "This restaurant was a pleasant surprise considering it was located at Rockefeller Center. The outdoor seating was excellent and the food was very good. The wine list was also very good. He was a very nice way to spend time outside for lunch."

  • "You definitely pay for the ambience here. If you don't mind that, this is one of the best brasseries in NYC and the owners and senior staff and exceptionally nice people."

  • "Beautiful terrace and great food. Had the tuna tartare and crab cakes - both were wonderful. As always, the service was outstanding and knowledgeable - our server recommended wine to me and my friend - both of us loved the selections."

  • "The service is incredible (Doco extremely knowledgeable and as professional as they come) and the food was remarkable (14oz NY Strip is like none other). Great wine selection as well, w expert wine recommendations."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Extremelly disapointing beef tartare literally covered in vinegar and Worcestershire sauce making it look dark brown rather than redish. Very different from the one we had several months ago... They might have changed Chef (?). The terrace and its scenic views of the Rockfeller complex partially offsets the poor quality in the plate."

  • "Food was not good, fish was both overlooked and tough but mushy. Cheese puff was raw and spongy. Chicken was dry, burger was inedible. Good view but skip the food and enjoy the view from the bench on the street"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "The kitchen turns over salads very quickly for all the slender female and male executives conducting business within 60 minutes. The waiters try to keep up but I did have to wave to get their attention a couple of times. The good thing is they don't interrupt conversations to ask vapid questions like how I'm enjoying the frisee."

  • "Four friends and I made our reservation in the morning as we were heading into NYC. We thought the menu looked inviting, and the location was ideal because we were to meet at Rockefeller Plaza at the end of the day. We found the food to be excellent and the service superb. Our meal at Brasserie Ruhlmann was the perfect ending for what had been a beautiful day in the city."

  • "We had perfect weather for dining outside and it was great to be able to do so at Rockefeller Center. The food was good but nothing to write home about; the service was fine. Nice steak and frites with bearnaise sauce, nice California rolls, portions on the small side. Be warned that for $11 or more per glass you will only really get 1/2 glass of wine. Overall a pleasant outdoor dining experience but I wouldn't come back to eat indoors."

  • "I made dinner reservations for 5 people at 6:00 pm. Two of my guest were late and I informed the waitress. She was fine with it and did not make me uncomfy. The specials were wonderful! The whole staff were attentive and courteous and never made us feel rushed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant..."

  • "Brasserie Ruhlmann really came through for us. We had a front row seat on the Rockefeller Center action, wonderful service and tasty food. Mussels were served in a cast iron pot---a large portion, with excellent broth and crispy frites. My husband declared his hanger steak as good as any he had in Paris. Ruhlmann is a good choice for that bastling locale. "

  • "Wonderful food and great atmosphere in the heart of NYC. Emily was a wonderful hostess and Ismael was over the top server. Wine list and onion soup just like being in Paris!"

  • "I have eaten at Brasserie Ruhlmann previously and had a wonderful experience. This time we ate on the patio. The experience this time was equally as good. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding. The location is very convenient. "

  • "I had higher hopes for brunch. I can say that i've had better tasting food for cheaper. My mom & i order the special for mothers day which was a filet mignon with eggs, potatoes & spinach. Steak has no flavor at all. Potatoes were overcooked and dry. For $45 a plate it should have been much better. The outdoor seating was nice and the location is nice as well but the quality of the food is most important and that was a C- at best. We were so hungry that we didnt feel like going through the wait to send it back to order something else. Oh another comment we ordered blueberry pancakes for my daughter, there was no blueberrys in side and maybe 3 mixed in with the strawberry compote they put on top. That is not blueberry pancakes."

  • "The maître d started our evening by being friendly and inclusive- that man is amazing so they better keep him around. Our food was great- starting with the two cheesy puffs served warm upon our arrival. We got cheeses expertly paired with breads/ fruit etc. entrees were Arctic char and roast chicken and both were amazingly seasoned, delicious and lovely to look at. The outdoor dining area was the only bit I saw on this visit and it is a cool experience- I am a NYer and I was entranced by sitting in the middle of lit up Rockefeller Center. Lots of tourists? Yes but who cares. Like what you like and eavesdrop on ladies from Kentucky talking about their NY spa day. It was a fun night."

  • "Food and service were great. Would definitely recommend the lobster cocktail and martinis. The "by the glass" wine selection did not disappoint. On the down side, the hostess sat a family of 4 next to us, which is fine, however the kids were quite rambunctious, were not able to sit in their seats and were overall very laud! My friend and I met in NYC for a girls trip to catch up before she heads off to medical school, so we would have appreciated different, quieter table neighbors. Our waitress was great and actually moved us at the end if our meal. Overall a great experience at a lovely restaurant!"
