Despite being in a super-touristy spot right next to the Rockafeller Center ice rink, this is actually a really good place for a meal, snack, coffee or drink. It's over-priced but you're paying for the location and the French-style food really is pretty authentic. There's a nice terrace outside for the warmer weather too.

Came by for a light meal after attending a performance nearby. We had light bites so can't comment on the regular menu, but our wine, sliders, tuna tacos and dessert were good. Service was professional and timely. Excellent choice in beautiful area. We noticed a lot of the places west of Rockefeller Center were not as upscale and atmospheric.

We thoroughly enjoyed the combination of tastes. The buttery soft pate de foie gras was combined with crunchy walnuts and sweet marmalade. The steak was charred perfectly searing in the flavor, and the curry sauce that went with the lovely lobster and shrimp roll was awesome. Service was superlative and ambiance excellent. Hostess=inept, inefficient, rude. Waiter=mediocre. Bus person=best out of all. I work at a major finical firm in the area. Have always have had their burgers when they do the open tables in plaza. Have found it to be one of the best burgers in the city. Never went for sit down NOW I know never take a client here!!!! Lobster cob, the lettuce was hours away from Wiley. Not crisp fresh. Lobster dried out. Tomatoes tasteless. Funny because they had the green mkt in the plaza. This is not a $38 salad. This was indicative of the whole experience. A $100 lunch should be so much better of an experience. For that money there are 1000's of places in the area. This is not one of them.

Ruhlman is so great, an icon really, that we were surprised to find the food good, but ordinary. The whole meal needed salt, the roast chicken was a bit dry, there was no gluten free option to replace any of the complimentary amuses bouches provided. (Really? not even an olive? a nut? ) The hanger steak was also average. Setting? Phenomenal. Servers? Fine.

Had a busy day in NYC planned for our grand kids and our last sightseeing stop was the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center. So we decided to have dinner near there and then move on to the train station and home. Ruhlmann was directly across the street with out door dining. The food was excellent and a good selection. The service was also excellent and everyone very helpful. Although a bit pricy we had a lovely time and were off to the train on time.

Outdoors was much busier and louder so we opted for indoors where is was really quite. The food was good, nothing particular to rave about - something you could easily obtain from any French restaurant in the city. Not completely sure why they have sushi? Seemed a bit random. Servers were a bit over attentive, and cared a little too much about tip, so that dragged the experience down a bit.

    Dined on 8/1/2014
I went for New York Restaurant Week with three friends. The location at Rockefeller Plaza was great, especially because we were able to get a table outside. However, the portion of steak that my friend and I got was comically small. I understand that restaurant week is a special promotion, but they should've at least mentioned that it was so tiny. It was literally 6 bites of steak. The chicken dish was a bit more reasonable. The appetizer and dessert were very good though. Food was good and I can only speak for restaurant week, but don't expect much food if you're on the prix fixe menu.

I went there with my boyfriend during restaurant week. Even though my chicken entree was plenty for me and very good, the steak entree was very very small for my boyfriend. He is not a hugh eater, but his plate was not quite a meal. If there were more of the vegetables on the dish, I'm sure that would have made a big difference. Other then this, the rest of the meal was very nice and fulfilling.

Brasserie Ruhlmann is never a disappointment. Food is excellent, the Rhubarb desert was outstanding, Service is attentive but not intrusive. Best of all if one goes on Thursdays they have "Lapin au Moutarde" (Rabbit in Mustard sauce) That dish is worth a trip to New York City from up state. Not expensive and great mid-town location.

I have been here before and liked it. This time was the opposite. There was margarine instead of butter for hard cold rolls. When I complained, nothing was done. This was Restaurant Week, and the prix fixe menu, for $ 38, was also the Restaurant Week menu-- that does not seem right. The cold tomato soup was okay, the chicken was dry, the mussels (we were 3 for dinner) were shriveled. The desserts were good, however, but did not make up for the slow service and lousy food. I won't go back.
