Brasserie CognacA wonderful findWhile the restaurant is a little bit of a walk for the theatre district, it is well worth the hike. It has a lovely warm interior and a smiling reception that honored our resevation immediately. The service was friendly and fast, but not too fast. The food was wonderful. Delicious Lobster, the most amazing Asparagus and dessert, well , I will leave that to your imagination.
Add all that up and you would think so would hike the price. You would be wrong. As someone whose job forces me to eat out a lot and particularly in the theatre district, I can say without doubt that this is one of the most priceworthy places around. To call it "cheap or moderate" would be insulting. The price, like everything else is well worth the sanpling.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMNice BrunchEnjoyed the crab meat and avocado appetizer at brunch. The chicken terrine appetizer was less successful. Followed with a hamburger that was very good though cooked more toward medium than the medium rare I ordered. The lemon ricotta pancakes got strong reviews. Very good service. Nice cozy French brasserie atmosphere. Seemed good for pre-theater too.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVERY GOOD RESTAURANT. HAVEVERY GOOD RESTAURANT. HAVE EATEN HERE 4 TIMES THIS MONTH5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful place in a great locationThis is a wonderful restaurant with great wine-by-the-glass, an excellent chef, and a menu I never get tired of, with surprises all the time. The French wine is reasonably priced and delicious, the fondu is great fun with friends, and the chef makes the best souffle this side of Paris. Go!!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA repeat visit and still satisfiedWe all love the ambiance and food at this lovely restaurant. Staff most pleasant and helpful. CrispyExcellent charcuterie. Crispy calamari. Very good frites. Pot-au-feu very good, fork tender, just big enough a portion. Pousse-cafe dessert option just right -- small glass of cognac, two tasty cookies, and a cup of coffee.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTrue french restaurantAmazing. And I'm picky.
Took my French wife and mother-in-law here and they couldn't believe how authentic it was. "It tastes like food back home" they said.
They didn't have the wine we wanted so they upgraded us to a better bottle at no additional charge.
Only complaint is that it took awhile for the bill...though I suppose that is authentically French too.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat relaxed brunch withGreat relaxed brunch with family and friends. Lovely ambiance.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service is four stars,The service is four stars, except when you have Anthony (the one with glasses), his attitude deserved less the one. Food is very good, halibut must try. Always cooked perfect, and this is fish that can be easy overcooked and dry (what a lot of restaurant do to halibut). Brasserie Cognac has one of the best halibut in town, and I compare it to top four star restaurants.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA touch of Paris, yet welcomesA touch of Paris, yet welcomes kiddies.
