Brasserie by NicheGreat food, good servicethough not a lot of choices for food, great choices for wine. Service was good, food was great!! the patio was packed and with street musicians across the street, it was fun.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat eveningwe have been to Brasserie several times and have never been disappointed by the food or the service !!!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat outdoor diningOur little group of three sat outside on a gorgeous night and had a marvelous meal with excellent service.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for 25th Wedding AnniversaryWe went to celebrate the 25th Wedding Anniversary of our friends from out of town. They loved it! The food was exceptional and the service was commencerate with the food. We told Jacob, our waiter, about the anniversary and he gave us a rilette of salmon and cheese puffs.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSeafood was delish; great serverSuperb from start to finish. Let me adjust our reservation time because we were running late, ensured we were done in time to make it to our event at the Fox. We brought our own wine and paid the corking fee, which was a tad high (I thought), but well worth it. All our dishes were amazing, but the fish dishes were the best. Would go back again.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently goodBrasserie by Niche is a gem. Warm, convival atmosphere, experienced wait staff, reasonable wine list and excellent food. I noted more than in past visits the creative use of seasonal produce (radishes and snap peas accompanied the trout in place of the traditional green beans and a seared scallop appetizer special with asparagus, spring onions, romaine and some kind of fabulous bacon). The meal was perfectly paced and absolutely delicious.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid callThe bar turned out to be more fun than anticipated...a little small but refreshing cucumber/ginger beer cocktails and satisfying calvados champagne cocktail
Bouillabaisse surprised and delighted, coq au vin rustic with butter-laden potatoes was rich but did not overwhelm.
Bustling atmosphere provided great content between chats, a little loud at times.
It's a brasserie, and delivers appropriately5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic experienceFrom start to finish, this was an unbelievable meal. We dined in a party of 5 and everyone was impressed with everything that they ate. When I return to St. Louis in the future, Brasserie will be my go to restaurant.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA must stop when visitingA must stop when visiting from the East Coast (NYC / DC) ...5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you!We wanted a relaxed night out and we found it at Brasserie! The food was awesome and our server was helpful and lovely. We will definitely return.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new number two!!!I'm not easy to impress as far as food taste and experience. I love to cook and am put off by fall back cheats of salt and fat. My husband and I visited Brasserie for our 27th anniversary. So so so good!!!! My new number two. Charming atmosphere, delightful staff, excellent food. Beautiful neighborhood to walk off calories that could not be denied.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience! This was our 2nd time dining at Brasserie and our experience was one of the best we have had in the St. Louis area. We sat outside as it was a perfect evening... even after 9:30pm when we were seated the restaurant was very lively and energetic. Our server, Jake, was fantastic... he made very insightful comments on the evening's specials, was extremely attentive, yet not bothersome at all! The food was fantastic as well. We would recommend Brasserie to anyone and will be back again soon!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AM3rd time in 2 months-a new favoriteWish I lived closer, I would be here every weekend. I've now been for dinner twice and brunch once. All times, food was excellent. We had spotty service the one time we went for brunch and sat on the patio. But excellent service the two times we went for dinner. I particularly enjoyed the gnocchi, french onion soup and the floating island for dessert. The bread rolls are excellent too! I love the blend of really good food with the casual atmosphere. It's not stuffy at all.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond, or maybe third time thereEverytime we go to Brasserie, we are pleased. The food is consistently good, and the service attentive. In particular, the frisee salad was great, as was the braised beef.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing ExperienceThis was the first time I had dined at Brasserie and I was blown away. The food was amazing and everything was cooked to perfection. I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. If you haven't been to Brasserie, you're missing out. I will definately be going back5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely evening at BrasserieFirst time and was very impressed. Excellent food, service at a reasonable price!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the places I have ever beenThe food is out of this world. It has a great French feel. The bread at the start of the meal is so good. Every thing on the menu is so good I have not yet had sine thing that was not above fantastic.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW!My wife and I came here on a date night and we were not disappointed. She got the chicken and I got the braised beef. Her dish was great but my dish was easily one of the top 5 dishes I have ever had in my life! Extremely flavorful and beyond satisfying. Good portions at a fair price.
We will headed back there for sure. Our waiter Jacob was excellent as well and really cared about our enjoyment!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMService as good as the foodOur server was excellent. He provided a great wine suggestion to complement our meal. My girlfriend and I were torn between escargot and steak tartare for an appetizer. On his recommendation, we chose the steak tartare. I thought it was delicious, but, as much as she tried, my girlfriend couldn't get past the thought of it. We had chicken and braised beef for dinner. The chicken was the most perfectly cooked, crispy skin, juice center chicken either of us have ever had. It seems odd to rave about a chicken dish, but it really was spectacular. The braised beef melted in my mouth. Our server, who had noticed the appetizer wasn't completely gone, ended up comping it and provided a surprise dessert.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOnion soup is outstandingOnion soup is outstanding - familiar yet subtly different. Roast chicken is absolutely THE best I have ever encountered. Preparation is all and Brasserie by Niche has it down cold.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful evening. We had a wonderful evening. The food was delicious, served promptly and hot.
Our server suggested an appetizer and wine - both of which we enjoyed immensely.
We were celebrating a birthday and received a sour cherry ice cream as dessert. The ice cream was awesome.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing and theThe food was amazing and the ambience was perfect! It was a great experience! Probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to!!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is great, the serviceThe food is great, the service excellent, the noise level is potentially problemmatic. I would never take my father here, who has a hearing problem, as he could not participate in any conversation. Even my wife and I had trouble hearing each other across the table this time. This is the only negative I would have for this restaurant: it's very noisy.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMCentral West End is a vibrant areaWe had not eaten here in awhile, but chose to entertain out of town guests here. It seemed very busy for a Monday night. The weather was perfect this April evening, and most patrons dined alfresco. The onion soup was delicious. The service seemed slow. Prices seemed reasonable. This is a residential neighborhood with few parking lots; we recommend the reasonable $3 (at this writing) valet parking. We have difficulty finding kitchens that are open late, even on weekends; this would be a good place for late night dining.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food, server wasLoved the food, server was very hard to get, overall enjoyed the dinner (including drinks beforehand at Taste next door)4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the atmosphere of thisI love the atmosphere of this place and the mussels cannot be beat. The delicious bread is perfect for sopping sopping us the juices. The menu could be expanded.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was wonderful. Our server was wonderful. I can't recall his name, but he has IC XC NI KA tattooed on his hand. Very familiar & helpful with menu. He really added to our evening.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAs my favorite restaurantAs my favorite restaurant in St. Louis, I was a bit disappointed with my most recent dinner. The long-time Trout entree has changed and seemed skimpy as well as the Gree4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place never fails toThis place never fails to impress. The service is high class, the food is beyond amazing, and the atmosphere is inviting. French Onion soup is my staple requirement for every visit. Had the Pork Special this time--I am generally a fan of the gnocchi. Pork was cooked to perfection. Brasserie has quickly become my #1 choice in St. Louis.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything. The foodLoved everything. The food was decilious, the service attentive and the bistro vibe alive and well. Our guests were so impressed and happy with their experience.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is so perfectlyThe food here is so perfectly prepared it seems otherworldly. A simple bibb lettuce salad is elevated to a treat, with perfectly crisp cold lettuce and just the right amount of lemony vinaigrette delicately embracing each leaf. The entrees are basic French Bistro fare, but so expertly prepared, you feel transported. The chicken Coq Au Vin was delicious. We were all very happy with our choices, felt attended to but not hovered over and since it was a chilly night, were especially happy there was valet parking -- for only $3. And they are open for dinner on Mondays -- a rare find in the CWE.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a wonderful experience. It was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is beautiful - I loved the Art Deco posters. The menu is inventive and the service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my fiance there rightI took my fiance there right after I proposed. I wanted a more secluded table and the staff was very accommodating. Everyone wanted to know how it went and they offered us some congratulatory champagne. It was a wonderful meal that helped make a special evening all the more so. It's definitely one of the better restaurants in St. Louis. We look forward to going back again and again.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I had a greatMy wife and I had a great time. We were offered a complimentary charcuterie platter for being first time guests. The menu was perfectly simplistic classical French food. There were a couple of things that could have been executed a little better, but we still cleaned our plates. All in all a fantastic time with fantastic service and some of the best chocolate mousse I've had in a very long time.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAnytime we want to impressAnytime we want to impress out-of-town friends we bring them here to our neighborhood gem. It never fails.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have come here for specialWe have come here for special occasions over the years and never have been disappointed. The food is outstanding and so is the service. The staff always goes above and beyond. The hostess ( I believe her name was Alex) just made my wife's evening with her comments at the end. Thanks so much.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe go early because we preferWe go early because we prefer a quiet atmosphere. food is always delicious and staff are great. It was a very belated Valentine dinner. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDeciding to go for the greatDeciding to go for the great food would be a great idea but would be a part of what you would enjoy. Always very good.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSimple French country foodSimple French country food done very well. Outstanding escargot as appetizer. Had goat cheese mixed green salad which was delicious. Entrees were outstanding: bistro teak and chicken with mushrooms. Tried floating island dessert upon recommendation of our waiter....so good. Service was attentive and excellent. They made a Tuesday night dinner so special.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! Excellent service!Delicious! Excellent service! Nice atmosphere, not too pricey, we will definitely return!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinner, excellent service.Lovely dinner, excellent service. Wine list was filled with high quality wines, lots of choices, and very French. Between the three of us, our food was very good. The French onion soup was the best we have ever tasted! The salmon and steak entrees were fabulous, however, the gnocchi was tasty but dry. I think it needed a white wine sauce. My husband wouldn't let me ask for any!! The coffee soufflé was perfect. Our first visit, will return when in St. Louis. The chef was mentioned on the Williams Sonoma website is how I found the restaurant.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible staff make an alreadyIncredible staff make an already outstanding restaurant something to remember. Asked the bartender for some help with the wine list, she "polled" the wait staff to find the right recommendation to match what we were going to order for our dinner. Wine by the bottle prices are very reasonable.
I am Greek, and ordered lamb, and was blown away by the meal. St louis is abound with great food and folks, but Niche is top notch. WORTH EVERY PENNY.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe opted for "beef night"We opted for "beef night" on a cold evening -- the three of us ordered the steak frites, the boeuf bourguignon, and the burger. All three were excellent. The meat was perfectly prepared, the frites were hot and crisp, and the bourguignon sauce was stellar.2/25/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably GreatThe only downside to my visit was due to Brasserie's popularity: the bar where I'd hoped to have a drink before dinner was packed with people (who presumably couldn't score a table) eating their dinners on stools.
But once I was seated (at the very table I had requested in my reservation), everything was stellar. The frisee salad (so easy to mess up) featured a perfectly runny egg, rendered but not burnt lardons, and croutons that you can spear without shattering. The frisee itself was the leafier variety and not the creepy strain that is like eating an Afro.
The burger and fries were delicious, and if I had one complaint, it is that the lovely brioche bun is too delicate for the meat, falling apart fairly quickly. Small quibble.2/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
