Brasserie BeckExcellent fish dishes, greatExcellent fish dishes, great wine list, and superb service. A superior choice in this section of DC. Our server, Adam, was the model of friendly professionalism - knowledgable, attentive, helpful, and amiable. A very enjoyable evening!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVery NiceWe went to celebrate graduation. Appetizers (cheeses and tortellini) were fantastic along with the endless baskets of bread. Entrees were also very good (especially the brussel sprouts as a side). The strip steak was probably the most disappointing of the entrees as this particular steak was not a great cut of meat - not bad enough to send back but could have been better.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA little Belgium in DC!Great Food and scence for an unassuming part of Downtown DC.
Wine list could be a little more robust but the beer menu is the best in town.
Simple menu but awesome cuisine! There is a lively vibe here and the bar area is down right crowded. So if your looking for a quite dinner go to the Chef's flagship restaurant Marcel's but if you are looking for a lively Bistro with great food and drink make a reservation for Beck...you will need one to score a table! Enjoy ...I did!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI have not been disappointed.I have not been disappointed. I have dined at BB multiple times. The food is great!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, my experience wasOverall, my experience was excellent. The waiter was very knowledge about both the food and drink menus. I am not a huge beer drinker, however, my date was and he was impressed. Our waiter was very attentive. Anticipated our needs and gave us enough time to savor our meal. He gave great suggestions and we never felt rushed. I would definitely come back.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing fish and chipsWe regularly go to Brasserie Beck for both Mother's and Father's Day. As a matter of fact, we have been there for the past 5 years for those special occasions. This year was especially delicious because they had a fish (cod) and chips special that litrally melted in our mouths. That is no to mention the delicious crab cake Benedict and the delicious Belgian waffles. This place is definitely worth visiting!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experienceThe table was ready when we walked in the door, very prompt service with suggestions offered..(they were great)..everything was timed perfectly, wine selection and suggestions by the manager were spot on...overall an awesome first time experience looking forward to the next visit!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMormor's favsExcellent place. Very welcoming staff. Made to feel comfortable by every staff member.
Rack of Lamb outstanding...sizable portion perfectly prepared. Every table filled yet we sat over dinner for nearly 3 hours without ever being rushed...the authentic French approach to dining. Loved this place. Recommend it highly.
Kevin Corcoran5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night outThe service was great, we had a spectacular dinner outside! The mussels were to die for!! Especially the curry mussels!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always outstandingI went last friday for date night and as always, the food was outstanding. We ordered the mediterranean mussels and I had a pappardelle with lamb while my partner had the special (seafood). We love the beer selection. Service was a little rough, this time, however. The patio was busy so I don't know if our waiter was just overseated or undertrained, but it was difficult for us and our neighbors to get his attention. This is NOT typical for us at Brasserie Beck and we hope it was an isolated event.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Mussels in D.C.Brasserie Beck was originally recommended to me for the saucy wait staff, but I quickly learned that it was a "go to" spot for a fine lunch, and later a great dinner. My midwestern sister loved it as a prelude to seeing Jersey Boys at the National Theater. It has the bonus of being in a neighborhood that still has adequate street parking. Mr. Wiedmaier's lineup of restaurants is well served having Brasserie Beck as a headliner in a formerly underserved part of town.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBrasserie Beck was recommendedBrasserie Beck was recommended to me as a great restaurant to go to, best known for its mussels. The drinks are great too, with amazing cocktails and a large wine list; my boyfriend has found one of his favorite beers while dining here, as well. The service is prompt, despite busy nights, and each server and tender pays great attention to your drink refills and bread replenishment. My experiences here have been consistently satisfactory, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a date night. Or just some great food.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat mussels, fries, Belgian beerIn my opinion, best to stay with the classic mussels and Belgian fries, both of which are well executed. They have brought back the curry flavored mayonnaise that for some unexplainable reason had been retired. Has a dozen Belgian beers on tap, which give plenty of options (or delve into their several hundred in bottles). Didn't see the steak tartare that used to be on the menu. The daily specials are worth examining. Had braised beef ribs which were tender and went perfectly with the bone marrow side.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot to grab lunch,Great spot to grab lunch, interesting menu but everything was delicious, and what I didn't have looked amazing. Service was great and the manager came over to check on us. A first class establishment.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasedThey mix elegant cuisine with an unpretentious atmosphere. In my opinion, the best combination for a lovely dining experience. Wish I lived in DC so I could sample everything from their menu.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time atThis was my first time at Becks for brunch and the experience was terrific. Not only does the restaurant start you out with their oh so yummy bread basket, but the coffee here is DIVINE. My friend and I drank the entire large french pot. The servers were very happy to accomodate our request for warm milk (for the coffee). We told the servers that we were sharing out entrees and the portions came out split in two on different plates without prompting -- what a great detail. Now to the food -- the crab cake benedict is awesome: perfectly poached egg and a lovely crabcake. We also shared the waffle of the day which, on that day, came with a cherry pear compote (so yummy, sweet without being overbearingly so). Go have brunch at BB!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMvery nice for our party ofvery nice for our party of 4 - 1 of which had gluten free options.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBrasserie Beck is one of ourBrasserie Beck is one of our favorites! They always seen to get better and have excellent mussels! Thank you4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place, excellent food.Great place, excellent food. I had the Beef Carbonade - outstanding flavour!!!! Very good beer list.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, love BB. the foodAs always, love BB. the food was amazing, the server was charming, the wine recommended - a chateuau neuf du pape for $50 - was incredible. This is the restaurant I eat at most frequently in DC. priced very reasonably for the quality of food and service. And I can't get enough of their mussels! I eat a ton of their delicious bread just dragging it through the sauce the msusels are cooked in. right now the mediterranean or the truffle cream are my top picks. I'm waiting for the Pipe Dreams (goat cheese and fennel and Meyer Lemon rind) to come back. YUM.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, fantastic selectionGood food, fantastic selection of beers. Friendly environment. Good for business or social gatherings.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as we expected!Keeping it simple, Brasserie Beck was as good as it gets for heir type food. Great beer selections, the Mussles and frites were as good as I have had in Brussels, and my friends Steak au poive was outstanding. Don't pass his one up.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good wine, goodGood food, good wine, good salads. the menu is fun and the waite staff is very accomodating. They have rooms for groups. It can get VERY loud, but if you know that - go for it. You will not be disappointed.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent but serviceFood was excellent but service was extremely slow. In the end It was all worth the wait.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe saw this restaurant reviewWe saw this restaurant review in the Washingtonian and it did not disappoint as a great brunch spot.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe mussels and parsnip bisqueThe mussels and parsnip bisque were great, only wish I could have taken the mussels home in a doggie bag. Apparently that's not done for the mussels.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic place, but the highlightiFantastic place, but the highlighting of the evening was my date!
She is beautiful, sexy and an amazing person to spend time with at a great restaurant.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy kids love mussels so thatMy kids love mussels so that is why we chose this restaurant. The waiter did tell us that they could do pasta for the kids if you are unsure about this restaurant with kids. Mussels and frites were excellent!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful brunch! As usual, BB delivers. Akin to its other area, sister, restaurants, the food is consistent and palate-pleasing. A great venue for Sunday brunch!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMeating mussels here when it'seating mussels here when it's cold outside is a thin slice of heaven.the beer list is peerless.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBrasserie Beck is not theBrasserie Beck is not the best Belgian restaurant in town, but their brunch is superb.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOur reservation was on theOur reservation was on the early side of dinner, and when we sat down it took a while (5-10 mins) for our server to come over to get drink orders. I think I saw the host walking around trying to find him, so it may have been the beginning of the shift. Once he came over though he was ready with suggestions, talking my girlfriend into trying the skate fillet, which was as excellent as the rest of the food we ate(beef carbonade, red snapper). The standout was the shrimp and chorizo appetizer. Also highly recommended is the brussles sprouts with pear and pancetta (or bacon.. some kind of delicious pork).3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were in the back room whichWe were in the back room which is why the noise level was not too high. It was a little chilly and my friend had to wear her coat to keep warm! I was wearing a heat pad on my back so maybe that's why I was ok!
Apple tarte tatin was excellent (had the bacon flavoured caramel sauce on the side - no need to spoil a great classic.
Fish was excellent both the cod and sea bass.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent beer menu also,Excellent beer menu also, we had a great meal with awesome beers3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBrasserie Beck consistentlyBrasserie Beck consistently serves delicious food with excellent service. Most recently, I ate there with a colleague for lunch - she had the tuna Cobb salad and I had mussels. BB's mussels are to die for! Best onion soup ever! Delicious beet salad and desserts were yummy...waffles and creme brulee. Steak frites was huge- enough to take home. We had had brunch here but never dinner. We will be back!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLoud, Cramped, But worth it...Our server was great. He boxed our food for us and handled many tables with even time distribution (considering how close they were). We didnt wait too long for our dishes, but noticed other tables who were there first got their food after we did. There was a water guy who kept filling up my glass everytime it got close to half empty. Didn't annoy me much but I can see how it can irritate some ppl. Better than being thirsty. We were very close to other tables to our left and right. I felt I was apart of many conversations at once. Will I come again? Yes but it wont be too often.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time atThis was our second time at Brasserie Beck. It was as good as we remembered from one year ago. Love those mussels! We have recommended it to others and will be back on our next trip to DC. We like restaurants that we can go to and order from the menu "blindfolded" and know that what we have ordered will be delicious. Brasserie Beck is such a restaurant. The friendly atmosphere and liveliness add to a really fun and relaxing dining experience.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMone of our favorite placesone of our favorite places to go with out of town guests3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat K Street GemLight, airy restaurant, with comfortable seating and a modern open kitchen with nooks for privacy. French - Belgian menu with superb food all around. The mussels are the star of the show here with numerous choices of sauces and topping. A very respective wine list and notable beers on tap.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe mussels were the starThe mussels were the star for me. They were delicious and succulent (get some bread for dipping in the sauce). The beers were equally as appealing with the craft selection providing an excellent compliment to the meals. The service is on par with no complaints.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Brasserie BeckAs always, Brasserie Beck really delivers. Best mussels in town, outstanding belgian beer list, and this time a stuffed suckling pig to die for. This is hands down one of my favorite places to eat in DC. Sometimes I make a dinner of the mussels (and drenching the amazing fresh baked bread through the sauce) but the entrees are incredibly delicious too!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat beer selection. I will hit again2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMarcel's little brother - for beerBecause we live in Annapolis, restaurants on the east side of D.C. are a plus. We have eaten at Brasserie Beck multiple times both at a table and at the bar and never have been disappointed. We mostly go for the mussels but have eaten other courses and the food has been uniformly wonderful as has the service. If we don't have wine we will try one of the multiple beers available on tap. Brasserie Beck has become one of our default places to eat both because of the high quality of the food and the location within the city. We definitely will go back again.12/9/2012 12:00:00 AMAs usual, the food, serviceAs usual, the food, service & ambiance were superb.12/5/2012 12:00:00 AM
