  • "The lobster salad is fantastic. We also sampled the tuna tartare and the crab cakes which were terrific. Our guests loved the scallops which were the special for the evening. Our filet mignons with French fries were really delicious and cooked perfectly. We had wonderful wine to accompany our dinner. Scott our waiter provided us with excellent service. Desserts were fabulous! A perfect evening! Our guests were very impressed!"

  • "My husband and I went here because he received a discount certificate and it was near Studio 54 where we were seeing a show. What a surprise. Haven't been here since it looked like the old PanAm terminal at Kennedy, but they redid the place and it is very nice, serine and quiet. The food was also surprisingly good. I recommend it."

  • "i liked this resto a lot. the food was very good. the prix fixe dinner is a bargain. above all the staff was incredibly accomodating. we had 3 people allergci to 3 differtent things and the mgr came ot our table to assure us that the allergies were being attended to. they knew in advance about a fish allergy and immediately informed us of this knowledge. the maitre d' and the waiters did the same. the sevice was truly excellent."

  • "Love this restaurant! Every meal there has been wonderful. This evening I enjoyed the lobster salad which was heavenly. Then I had the the duck breast cooked to perfection with wild rice , kale and a berry sauce which was fabulous. The macaron filled with chocolate with a hazelnut ice cream was amazing. The service is always excellent. Scott was our server this evening. Our wine, a Sancerre was crisp, cold, and was a perfect accompaniment to our food."

  • "Dined here with a group of 5, and everyone of us got the pre-fixe option. Food was very good, and affordable. Drinks were alo reasonably priced for the neighborhood. Service was fine but not as attentive as I would expect, especially considering how quiet the restaurant was. I would have order a second drink if someone had asked. Ambience is very modern, but warmer than I thought it looked in pictures. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant, and would try it again."

  • "Met my particular needs nicely: near the concert location I was attending; early enough to be quiet, get a nice table and good service. I ate alone. Food was fine: good quality tuna tartar but disappointingly unseasoned. Strange I thought. Steak, ordered blue, was perfect. Tasty sauce on the side. Molten chocolate cake seemed standard - not distinctive, but good; espresso ice cream was fine. I didn't quite appreciate the homemade marshmellow. Not my cup of tea (or roast of sweet). Waitperson was very attentive. Note again this was early (5:30) and not yet busy. Drinks (rye Manhattan and a straight Beefeaters) were not distinguished and a bit too watery. Bar was empty, pleasant, but not especially appealing. I would go again."

  • "The most depressing experience. The restaurant is totally empty for dinner. The food for a while was excellent and now has been definitely poor. We were frequent diners there, but no longer wish to be disappointed by one dish after another. Much too pricey for what is being served."

  • "I've been going to this restaurant for many years now. I've always been very happy with the food and service. My last visit was not at all what I expected. The food was just plain bad! 2 of us ordered filet mignon and they were both bad. The cuts of meat were inferior, I DO NOT expect that at a brasserie! My medium rare steak was dry, I am not quite sure how that is possible, but they managed it. The flavor was inconsistent, it seemed like the chef tried to overcompensate by over salting it but only in chunks, so one bite was flavorless while another bite was over salted. Also my dining companion ordered a well done steak and it went back twice and still came back medium both times even after we asked for it to be butterflied."

  • "I am a mussel lover. The mussels were extraordinarily plump. Not one had fallen out of its shell. The white garlic sauce was sensational. Great taste and not overloaded with cream. The service here is perfect. I am glad I found this restaurant, and I shall return."

The Brasserie is a family favorite for a special brunch in our family, or years.   • "Impeccable service and the food was very good quality. The setting is grand, without being stuffy. It is a Brasserie, although a high-end one. The wine list was a bit on the short side. We went on a Thursday evening and the diners were a bit sparse, so the atmosphere was a bit quiet. The prix fixe menu was very good value for money."

  • ""The quality & quantity of the food were outstanding! However I did not see them freshen it up frequently, so I recommend getting there early (I went at 11am). The Service, however was terrible. Which caught me by surprise, since the server only had to focus on our beverages. He never came around. Had to summon him twice for a drink and then waited over 45 minutes for the check (wound up getting from the hostess when I inquired). I would recommend it because the food choices were great & hoping this server's inattentiveness was not the norm."

  • "Each time I'm in NYC, I manage to eat at one of my favorite restaurants, 8 1/2. The ambiance is always fabulous, especially walking down the carpeted stairs. The interior design is fantastic and memorable. But you, ultimately, come for the food and we were not disappointed. It was Restaurant Week, so my wife and I chose the Prix Fixe options and both of ours were really good. Our server was helpful and attentive, but also gave us space to enjoy each others' company. It is a very romantic spot if you want a nice couples' meal. It's also a great neighborhood find, on a street that has too many uninspiring choices. This one is a great go-to spot for us as well as locals. I keep coming back and this time was probably the best of all our visits."

  • "We went early on a Saturday just after Restaurant Week, but Brasserie offered the special menu. The portions were not huge, but satisfying. A splash of consomme with ravioli and a goat cheese salad tastily began the meal. A duck breast with a remarkable fruit sauce joined a small filet mignot with a few well-cooked green beans and a potato concoction like elongated tater tots for adults. Desserts and cappucino were fine, but the tea service (jasmine) was outstanding. The bread and delicious butter kept coming, the 1/2 bottle of Guigal Crozes Hermitage 2009 was delicious (a great split for two, as it come out to only about $3 extra per glass for each). We will return again during and outside of restaurant week. Service was very attentive."

  • "I took my friend to Brasserrie to celebrate the last day of Restaurant week in NYC and of course we told them the prix fix price was 55 dollars for a 3 course meal.. Boy did we were deceived. The waiter claimed that some items were just on prix fix for lunch only....he brought the MENU for the prix fix diner and I ended up paying $140.00 with two cups of wine included. one for 12.00 and one for 11.00"

I ordered the goat cheese with golden beets - amazing combination, duck - delicious with great sauce, and macaron - yum. They gave us a crème brulee for the birthday boy which was one of the best I've had. Some in my group got the lemon tart which they loved. Service was great - our waiter was very entertaining. Classic midtown restaurant. Nice décor. A lot of seating available."

  • "went during restaurant week. food wasn't bad, but definitely not great, and very meat orientated. both entree and main has one choice that cost $12 more. I'm a pescetarian, and had to add $12 to the $38 fix menu, because otherwise I have nothing to eat. overall food really wasn't that amazing, many small restaurants can do better at a much cheaper price. sorry to say that, but all other restaurant week restaurants i went to beat this one."

  • "We went here for restaurant week's lunch. The place is beautiful and modern. There is a great and comfortable wait area and the waiters are very kindly and friendly. The food is good but nothing special. We were given special soup "Lobster Bisque crème fraîche" instead of the soup listed on the restaurant week menu and it is delicious) from the chef. We would go back soon."
