Brasserie 292Everything was greatWe were there for Mother's Day dinner. It was a wonder dining experience. The servers were extremely friendly and the food was outstanding. The is definitely a gem in the city of Poughkeepsie.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNYC Class Food on Main StThis gem seems like it was plucked out of the high end NYC dining scene and plunked down on the up and coming section of Main Street in Poughkeepsie. The food is fresh, well prepared and delicious. Brunch, lunch, and dinner are all amazing. Price makes this not an everyday dining experience (but it's very reasonable for the quality and experience you are getting) I recommend Brassarie 292 for special occasions and an outstanding night out. At first, when we arrived, we were seated at a table that was broken and the waitress had to stick something under the bottom to stabilize it. Then, we were told the specials, liked what we heard and wanted to order it but was told it would be at least an hour, before it would be ready! This was a major disappointment. We had to ask for bread after waiting an unusual amount of time, while we watched a cluster of waiters standing by the kitchen door talking. We got the impression that something very wrong had happen that night, but after all of that, the food was cooked perfectly, and the wine that the waitress suggested was fabulous! Service had issuesWent for brunch,,service a little shakey..got buscuits and gravy when i ordered the crab omelette. Ordered oysters as an appetizer which came out after the entrees were delivered.All of these errors were remedied to our satifaction. Food was delicious as well as the cocktails and desserts. The pastry basket is not to be missed.Just read the online menu before you go because many of the items are not on the menu given at the restaurant and you have to ask for them which was a little strange. Will definitely give Brasserie 292 a second chance just fromthe quality of the food alone.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my 3rd visit to Brasserie,This was my 3rd visit to Brasserie, and it will certainly not be my last! The food is fantastic -- and even though the restaurant is pretty crowded and quite noisy on Friday nights, it is well worth it for the delicious meal. I had been craving the fried oyster appetizer for weeks, and it was exquisite! We were a party of three, and our main courses were the pork belly and scallop (incredible -- the scallops were perfection!!), the steak frites (divine...the Bearnaise sauce is impeccable), and another steak dish (I cannot recall which one, but my brother raved about it -- it was his first visit). I highly recommend Brasserie 292 to foodies in the Hudson Valley!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy... just a spot of grease!Three friends and I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. The servers were all very kindly and not overly attentive, giving us plenty of complimentary bread, always water, refilling drinks and giving us just enough time with each round of food. The appetizer house salad was very healthy, and the camambert, although burning our throats by its pungency, was vibrant and nice. The steak portions were enormous for such pretense, and were accompanied by overwhelming portions of french fries that the table shared. Salmon with ratatouille was a delicious and atypical flavor palate. Shrimp pasta wanted to be Italian but was also delicious. Don't get the Panna Cotta for dessert, but everything else that we had was AMAZING!

The food is fresh, creative, dances with the taste buds, and a variety for everyone. Cocktails are fun, crowd is always upbeat and lively. When I step inside, I'm transported out of town and fully immerse myself in the mini-holiday.My Westchester family and Pennsylvania friends come frequently and always ask "what time are reservations at 292"? One of my favorite and oddball things is that left overs are delivered with your receipt. They don't have to sit on the table or floor. The complaint I have was with the lack of space surrounding the tables. On a couple of occasions, some of the wait staff bumped into the back of my chair, which is annoying. The appetizer was a very large scallop with a nice presentation. The hanger steak was accompanied by tiny potatoes, haricot vert, pancetta, in a rich sauce and the tarte was good although it was hard to taste the fruit. The room is lively not noisy. Food and service were outstanding, and the place was immaculate. I had scallop appetizer, which was yummy, and cavatelli entree, which was very tasty and well prepared. Spouse had fried duck and hanger steak, and loved both. Great desserts, pear tart and a chocolate/hazelnut pudding, with delicious coffee. Everything was excellent, well cooked and spiced. I had calamari and cavatelli in an arrabiata spicy sauce, fried duck and a wonderful nutella dessert. We had great conversation and wonderful dinner. I think I have found my special place. The decor its wonderful...definitely felt as though I had left Poughkeepsie for the evening...cozy, warm yet chic. While waiting at the bar for my friend, I described a drink I had while in Key West last Spring....the bartender replicated it perfectly!
