And the renovation is wonderful, too. Delicious food ... beautiful place ... great service ... moderate cost. What more could anyone ask?"

  • "We were celebrating a birthday and the staff allowed us to take our time for a leisurely Sunday afternoon meal. We ordered from the "Endless Oktoberfest" page of the menu which provides very good value (soup, salad, entree, desert and coffee), and tasty German dishes. The meal started with delicious assorted fresh rolls--loved the pretzel rolls! The schnitzel was particularly good, as was the potato leek soup. The staff was friendly and accomodating. This was our second time here, and we will be back. Very enjoyable."

  • "I've been to the New Hyde Park Inn before the renovations but never for brunch. My party all agreed that it was a very nice meal. We were not rushed. The service was attentive but not annoying. The food selection was varied. The presentation was nicely done. In all, it was a very pleasant experience. I would definitely return and try dinner."

  • "We had a nice time our first visit to Brassier 214. My husband ordered the dumplings to start, which he loved and I ordered the Brasserie Salad which was good but could have used more beets and less cheese. For dinner I tried to be adventurous and ordered the Dutch Indonesian Crevette, which left me disappointed. The shrimp had a breading on it which was not anticipated from the menu description and there was way too much sweet and sour sauce. My husband ordered the lamb chops which he liked so we'll go back again as the place was nice and the service was great. I wish they had some specials to give the menu a bit more variety."

  • "Dined there on a Sunday when they offer Oktoberfest, a full dinner including soup, salad, entree, dessert and coffee or tea for $25. We were a party of 4 adults and 1 toddler (very well-behaved). The service was excellent and the food fantastic. There was a good selection to choose from. My personal favorite is the wienershnitzel served with potatoes and red cabbage. My husband ordered the wurst platter also with potatoes and sauerkraut. Though they probably don't get too many children diners, they were very accommodating. We will definitely return."

  • "My husband and I went for Valentines Day. They had a preset menu which had a good variety of options. The fried calamari was cooked perfectly. I ordered the surf and turf. The steak was great but lobster tail was dry. It took us 3 hours to eat dinner, which was very long. However the waitress was attentive and just didn't rush us. They also had an amazing band in the bar area that was amazing. I will definitely go back and hope the band is there again."

  • "My wife decided to treat me to dinner here for my birthday, what a poor dining experience. The decor and menu is dated and the waitress was horribly rude. We were there on a Friday night and we are a couple in our mid 30s which was quite a bit younger than many of the regular patrons that were seated around us. The waitress seemed to know them all by name and they received excellent service, we were treated as an afterthought. I am not sure if she thought we wouldn't tip well or spend enough money. We should have left when she basically threw the menus at us and walked away with a scowl. The food was average at best and we will never go back."

  • "Brasserie 214 does not know who to be. When you walk in, you feel as if you are going to a wedding at a banquet hall. The bar area offers karaoke. When we were seated in the small cramped dining area, one thing was immediately apparent. No one besides a few little kids were under the age of 60. The menu is tired but the food was OK. I ate the 18oz rib eye which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. My girlfriend ate the lamb chops which were also good. Our waitress was very plain and did not take much notice to us. She did not ask how our food was. Instead she focused on the elderly people. The only reason we went to this restaurant was because of a Groupon. We would not have tried it on our own and will not be going back. 2.5 Stars"

  • "My parents used to love the old New Hyde Park Inn so I thought I would give it a try with the new name and ownership. I saw online that they had an Oktoberfest price fixe Sunday complete dinner for $24.95. It included soup, salad, entrée, dessert and coffee or tea. Awesome price for excellent food. My entrée was weiner schnitzel Mont Blanc with ham, bacon, gruyere cheese and roasted potatoes. So tender it melted in your mouth and the portion size was huge with enough to bring home for another meal. We will definitely be back. Also, the rolls in the bread basket were the same as I remembered many years ago. Yumm!"

  • "We both had the lobster tails which were quite good. There is a nice decor, but tables are rather close together. I call this a neighborhood gem because it is probably a cut above most of the restaurants in the area (although I am not 100% sure about that). The service, however, left a bit to be desired. We had left plenty of time to get to a concert at Adelphi (10-12 minutes away) but in the end barely got there in time."

  • "We were a party of 13 people. At first the wait-staff was a bit slow in taking orders. Our 1st course was served in due time, but the wait for the main course stretched on for 45 or more minutes. People who were seated after us received their orders first. We requested our meals twice before we got them. Special requests were not fulfilled : ie. no sauce, no potatoes. One in our party did not get her meal - turkey platter -until we were halfway done. The final course of coffee was not offered. I had picked this restaurant because of an ad I saw. It was embarrassing to fend off the complaints. We had one waiter while there were 3 young ladies busy decorating the front windows. We had to ask for our check twice."

  • "Loved the ambiance and quaint decor.Candlelight everywhere for a nice, romantic feel.Our waiter was extremely polite and attentive.We had the fixed prix meal of Seafoodfest on Fri. night which was extremely generous and delicious from the Strattacella soup to dessert of warm Apple Streudel. The selection of different rolls and bread served before the meal was very good.I had a very good red Sangria with my meal.First time dining here was a pleasant experience and looking forward to coming back with family and friends:)"

  • "when we first walked in the place was very nice and looked clean,at first a blond woman with a russian accent seated us by the window at the bar i insisted we eat in the main dining room that was almost empty,after she gave me a huff and said i made my reservation late she seated my party in the main dining room. The wait staff were very polite and friendly started with the crab cake,its was good but a little salty,then i had the shnitzel with bacon and that was really good,the rest of my party had the motsarella cheese in vinegar .all & all a very good evening and my party and i had a great time ,i will be returning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a quick note to the manager maybe you can talk to the girl that seated us about a atitude adjustment"

  • "We celebrated our friend's 40th wedding anniversary here. Having just recently opened, it is a new restaurant in the area we wanted to try. The service was good, and the food came quickly. The lamb chops were excellent as was the steak, but the sauerbraten was not up to expectation. The restaurant was small and every table was filled making it a bit loud. After dinner, we moved to the bar area and shortly thereafter (as it was Saturday) there was a band setting up to play. All in all we had a lovely evening except that you need to like really loud places!"
