A word from Brandywine Prime
Located in the heart of the Brandywine Valley, this modern American steakhouse is a short drive from Philadelphia, the Main Line or Wilmington. The complete redo of the 300 year old Chadds Ford Inn has created an excellent canvas with which to paint. The cuisine is strictly twenty-first century with an emphasis not only top quality cuts of beef, like the 10 oz. barrel cut ribeye, but fresh seasonal seafood, like soft-shell crabs and wild salmon. The comfortable bar beckons you in with a Best of Philly burger, ahi tuna club and a local draft beer. Creative sandwiches, great happy hour specials and great steaks ensure we have something for everyone. Modern finishes to an historic building create an inviting, hip atmosphere that welcomes all-from tourists to business travelers to local families to private events in one of our many rooms. Diner Reviews
  • "This time I visited with my friend, who eats like a bird. She ordered a special daily selection and ate every bit of it, she kept saying "this is so good". Normally in her politeness at "other" places she will stop and ask for a take home bag saying her stomach is too small. A polite way of saying "that she does not really like something" I was amused that she ate every last bit of her food. We will be back again. And I enjoyed one of the specialty drinks, wanted a second , but I was driving. A wonderful place. Keep up the good work."

  • "Last week a friend and I had dinner at Brandywine Prime for the first time. The waiter was excellent, and my filet was one of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere in the upstairs dining room is charming. I ordered dessert and coffee in part because I wasn't ready to leave! I look forward to a return visit and highly recommend Brandywine Prime to others."

  • "Our most recent visit to Brandywine Prime may just have been our best to date!! The restaurant has really hit it's stride with consistently great food and wonderful service. And it's hard to beat the beautiful ambiance of the facility. The tuna special that evening was cooked perfectly and was a dish that I hope to experience again there on a future visit. I recommend this restaurant very, very highly."

  • "My friends and I went for a girls' brunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and ambiance! Michael served us and he was very attentive and personable. We partook of the buffet items and also had eggs benedict, french toast and waffles. Everybody's tummy was happy!"

  • "A return trip, wife took me to celebrate my birthday. Reviewed the menu, and was trending between a fish entree and the filet on the regular menu. The waiter in going over the specials had said there was a 10oz filet and it included a sauce and some green beans. Didn't note if it was a special kind so I figured it was just a larger cut of their regular 8 oz. ($32) filet. Well I went with the special. Food, service and drinks were all great. Shock came when I got the bill and the filet - $48. Not feeling as satisfied as my first visit. On the fence about another visit to BP though. Should have asked but didn't - I do so much appreciate restaurants that use a supplement or daily menu though. A reason to avoid specials if they don't."

  • "We came from Baltimore to see Longwood Gardens and picked Brandywine Prime by its Open Table profile. It looked really nice. Somehow, we kept getting wrong directions online and had a hard time getting there, and then almost didn't get a parking spot in their lot. The server was nice but forgot to bring my boyfriend's second drink. The chopped salads were really good, but the "prime filet" was dry and everything needed salt. It was a fine experience but not a place I feel the need to get back to."

  • "This is not the first time my wife and I have dined at this restaurant for Sunday brunch. We have grown accustomed to expecting a good dining experience. This visit did not disappoint. While not the largest selection of choices, the food is high quality and well presented. You do not leave hungry or wishing for anything more. We look forward to our next visit."

  • "If you love a great steak but aren't a fan of the chain steak houses like Sullivan's then this may be what you've been looking for. Fantastic steak with great side dishes in a historical Brandywine Valley setting."

  • "This was a return at the invitation of the owner due to our prior concern that our steaks had been overcooked. We took the owner up on the offer and revisited and ordered the same food as before - high end steaks. When the dinners we ordered arrived, the steaks were cooked to our preference and formed the basis for a delightful meal. Our waiter was attentive and excellent. He was also responsive to our queries for his opinion about specific items on the menu. We accepted his recommendations and were not disappointed."

  • "Friday nite half price burgers are the best. The price is great but even at full price these burgers are well worth the price! Thick, juicy and cooked to perfection. My burger was pink and with bacon, blue cheese, lettuce tomatoe, onion and the best fries."

  • "In an area that has a lot of steak houses and new places opening, we chose this place due the private ownership and lack of chain affiliation. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Service was friendly and on point at the beginning, but we waited a bit to get our cocktails. I guess the bar was busy downstairs. Our appetizers, sautéed octopus and shrimp spring rolls did not impress. Stuffing in rolls seemed bland and my wife didn't know that they were listed as shrimp. After quite a while between appetizers and our entree, I asked for a med rare steak only to be served a very well seared, well done filet mignon. My wife ordered the Wagyu filet for $38, which looked like it was cooked on a hot griddle. (Nothing special or note worthy)"

  • "Very interesting menu with some terrific choices. We had an8 oz filet, cooked perfectly, and the chicken breast, also well prepared."

  • "Atmosphere was very nice. Unexpected given the location. Service was good, but uneven. Food very good except the the high priced Wagyu Beef - tough as nails and full of gristle like a cheap supermarket steak, even cooked medium rare. Unlike any Wagyu I have ever tasted. My son's filet was a much better choice. Fix this! The option of $5 corkage for wines brought in is as a great option to avoid the ridiculous markups on restaurant wine lists. We will try this place again and make other choices for entree."

  • "I expected more from this restaurant from this place which was formerly The Chadds Ford inn. We were there for Father's Day brunch. Although the service was good, the food was average. Prices suggested top quality. It was not there. I think there are higher quality places in the surrounding area."

  • "The food was delicious and our server, Paul was very professional while also personable. The experience was relaxed and casual, without the pretense of other "stuffy" restaurants. The decor and furnishings are contemporary in an old building. Very cool. The staff were all dressed in Black kitchen jackets and blue-jeans. It reflected their approach; professional yet casual. Excellent."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our anniversary; the meal and service was excellent. We had cocktail shrimp; one was not good and Craig, our waiter, brought us back 2 to make up for it. The pork chop and double baked potato were quite good and the creamed spinach in a mini cast iron skillet was delicious with garlic and cheese. The waygu steak was very tasty, but had a a fair amount of gristle which was disappointing for the price. Craig surprised us with a creme brulee had 'Happy Anniversary' written on the plate, very nice touch. Despite a less than perfect meal, on a busy night, Craig did a great job of service recovery. Brandywine Prime remains on of our favorite places to dine."

  • "With two young kids, nights out are rare. Went to Brandywine Prime for our anniversary and had a great experience. We went on the early side on a Saturday night and ate outside. Our server was excellent, engaging in a full discussion with my wife regarding her food allergies. When I did not care for my "specialty cocktail" she quickly took care of it by bringing me a substitute. The food, as always, was perfect. I had the tuna tartare and the NY strip. I have hosted two parties at this restaurant and they always come through. Highly recommended."

  • "Lunch on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend was my first visit to Brandywine Prime and perhaps not a fair test. It didn't get off to a good start. Despite making a reservation, we were told the dining room was being used for a private party and we had to sit in the bar. The bar's ambience is lacking as is the comfort of the chairs. My food was okay but nothing spectacular. My friend enjoyed the prime rib sandwich. I am willing to give the restaurant another try but won't rush back."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at BP. The room was private and quiet, the table beautifully set in a corner, just what we needed for a reunion with a friend. The food was amazing, with gourmet mushroom selections for those who expect that from the Kennett Square area, and the service impeccable. We have already recommended this restaurant to our friends and look forward to a return trip ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful evening."

  • "We were very excited about this because my husband and I had dinner here before and it was outstanding. I have to say our server was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the specials and answered all of our questions. All of our food was better than average. The biggest complaint from all of us was the portion size-- very disappointing, from the appetizers to the entrees. The only thing included in your meal are about 8 green beans. One other thing that bothered us the entire time we were eating was that our large round table was wobbly, which is a problem when 8 ppl are cutting steak. Bread pudding dessert was terrific, but sugar on top of the creme brulee was way too thick. BP was just okay, won't be back. Left hungry"

  • "Nice inside decor and friendly staff. We had well prepared drinks at the bar. Food was just ok. Definitely not recommended if you are a serious foodie with demanding expectations. Our beef was left to "rest" to the point of being cool when served. The dry aged strip had a slightly moldy taste. Remainder of food was average. But our waiter was pleasant and we enjoyed the night out"

  • "Food, service, and ambience were great. Only hang up was the price. The menu is very expensive and the portions are small. Most steakhouses are pricey but the portions are hefty. Not the case here. Plus my martini was served in a cracked glass. When we pointed it out to the bartender, instead of making me a new drink, he just poured my existing drink into a new glass. I expected more. "
