A word from Brando's
Brando's was founded on the premise of great food made from quality ingredients, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere which we believe are the three elements of any enjoyable dining experience.

The chef/owner, Steven Botta, grew up in Brooklyn and learned many of recipes used at Brando's from his mother. Raised in this welcoming tradition, he believes when you enter Brando's, whether its your first time or your one hundredth time, you should always feel like they are dining with family.

Soulful Italian is the best way to describe our menu. Our culinary team has been trained at the finest culinary schools, and has over fifty years of combined experience. From our fresh pasta, to our line-caught fish, to our thirty-five day dry-aged steaks, the difference is discernible

  • "Dined on a Sat night at 9:30, the restaurant was packed. The veal chop was excellent & the NY cheesecake was also very good. The service was great. Overall Brando's was a pleasant surprise. We will return."

  • "Our group held a business meeting in your establishment, and was very happy they set up our table in a corner of a large dining room where we could discuss confidential business in a very quiet, private atmosphere. Your wait staff was excellent, tending to our needs, recommending wine choices, and adjusting lighting when needed to view documents. We will definitely use this restaurant again."

  • "A favorite restaurant over the years always having a great dining experience. From appetizers to dessert each course is better than the last, from dry aged steaks and meats to Italian seafood dishes. The menu choices are vast as well as night;y specials. The service is good and not rushed, reservations during summer month are necessary."

  • "What an amazing restaurant! The food was all very delicious from appetizer to desert, sangria was amazing, and our waiter Guiseppe was a friendly and entertaining server who made our night. Thank you for a great Valentines Day!! My fiancé and I will definitely be back and have already recommended the restaurant to others. :-)"

  • "Nice atmosphere, great food, great service! A little pricey...portions average. I had the rack of lamb. It was very tasty, but the portion was small for the price. Drinks are expensive."

  • "We requested private seating and the restaurant accommodated us with a table in the dining room. Unfortunately, it was too cold there so we sat in the bar area. Three televisions behind the bar played Italian oriented movies. Music was playing at the same time. Conversation was not possible over this background din and other diners raised their voices to be heard, resulting in too much interference with conversation. This is a classy restaurant with great potential to be top of the line. The decor is great, the food is excellent but the noise is unacceptable if you plan to converse. Try the meatball insalata. It is enough to eat as a main course and tastes like my mother's meatballs and salad."

  • "Service was slow... Portions were small on the appetizers... Very skimpy.. Ravioli were flavorless . Gnocchi were great ! Not worth the money.."

  • "excellent food, service and ambiance. only thing missing is the owner's presence. He has been spending alot of time at his second restaurant. i do detect a difference when he isn't there. pay attention to brando's too! lol"

  • "This was my third time at Brando's and it had been one of my absolute favorite resturants. The food was usually cooked perfectly, but this time I was very disappointed. The appetizer was fried calimari which my boyfriend and I usually get, but it was very chewy and seemed old. We both ordered chicken franchise for our dinner and the chicken was dry and overdone. It came with a cripsy risotto ball which we were expecting to be bigger than a silver dollar pancake and it had way too much rosemary. It was our New Years Eve dinner in which we spent $120 with tip on not very good food. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was pleasant, but I cant say for certain if we will be returning."

  • "Went to Brando's with very high expectations after reading all the reviews. Not that the food was lousy, but it was just average. The 4 dishes we ate were plated poorly and were unimaginative and lacked and complex taste. It seemed to us that the food with a price tag of $123 with one drink each, tasted more like diner food than a gourmet experience"

  • "Food was very good, service excellent but it was to cold To enjoy the meal. When Carmine's operated in the same location They had the same problem. Do something about the heat I would recommend the restaurant spring , summer and fall. Winter NG"

  • "The way it should be. I've been to Brando's twice so far and the experience has been terrific. The food brought back childhood memories of Sunday dinner at Grandma's. The Sunday Sauce with meat balls is stellar. Respectable wine list, especially the red's from Tuscany. Service was well above average for comparable establishments. Everyone in my party loved their meal choices. Officially my go-to spot for Italian on the Jersey Shore. There is something for everyone at Brando's, whether its steaks (too many choices/ways to describe here), pasta dishes, or salads. We shared calamari and creamy polenta with mushrooms (excellent) and for my entrée I had homemade rigatoni (al dente) with meatballs. Loved it all."

  • "The waiter had very good timing, degree of thoughtfulness, helpful. We had a group of twelve and all enjoyed their dinner."

  • "We had avoided Brando's since it opened because we were never fans of any of the previous incarnations at that location, but the building doesn't have bad karma after all. The food was excellent, the service very professional, the pricing far-- particularly the well-chosen wine list with a wide price range and reasonable mark-ups. The zuppa di clams was exceptional, the large berkshire pork chop excellent, and the meatball duo appetizer excellent as well. Although large enough to be a main course, in truth. We will definitely be back, to make up for a couple of years of neglect."

  • "Aged cowboy rib-eye steaks rocked. Meatball Insalata for appi could have sufficed for dinner, great meatballs, great "gravy". Busy Friday evening but we were not rushed with our courses which is GREAT. Super atmosphere, felt like we were in NYC."

  • "The food and menu were outstanding, ample portions and great quality. The menu was only topped by the service. Our waiter Giuseppe was engaging and phenomenal, great conversation, good recommendations. He truly made us feel as if we were dining at his home. We will be back."

  • "Had an exceptional dinner. One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. My husband had the braciole appetizer & it was delicious in a balsamic reduction......very creative! Our only disappointment would be the pasta dish that we shared as an appetizer. Firstly, the meatballs are far too big. You could fit 4 normal meatballs into their one! I think this doesn't allow the meatball to absorb any of the sauce. Also, the sauce itself was pretty non-descript. I'm an Italian housewife and I'm still amazed at how many restaurants can't put together a simple and delicious red sauce. I think too many of them want to use an overabundance of herbs, and a lot of times they're dried herbs.......yuck! All in all our meal was very enjoyable."

  • "After my second time at Brando's, I come away with mixed feelings. On my first visit, one of the specials, a wild boar gnocci appetizer, was superb. The entrees of all four of us were, likewise, excellent, but the gnoccis were a standout. This time, my salad was hohum, a dish that was piled high with arugula and little else. I left most of it. However, my entree, a veal bolognese which I chose to put over buccatini was quite good. The other diners at my table appeared happy as well. Service both times was attentive without being overbearing. I will return to Brando's, if only to see if the appetizer specials can equal that first experience."

  • "Dinner was outstanding - recently there have been a few 'misses' but this last time - everything was as good, if not better, than it's always been .... BTW - what happened to the focaccia and pizza type bread? I hope it's still on the menu. There were some new fall additions to the menu that were excellent."

  • "This was our second dining experience at Brando's. Once again, the food was amazing. We also strategically skipped appetizers in favor of desserts. Definitely a worthwhile choice. The Gnocchi 3-Ways was delicious. I dined on the Pasta al Forno. It was amazing. We couldn't decide on desserts, so we split Fried Tortoni, Zeppoles and Zabaglione. I haven't eaten that much in a long long time. Everything was simply delicious, without being overbearing. None of the dishes were over-the-top. Each had flavors that accented each other perfectly. Delish!!"

  • "We had an ok meal. My dish was not tasty. Others with me had ok meal. We expected so much more since it had such high ratings. I suppose it was built up too much. Maybe we should have ordered food that they specialized on. We did ask the waiter for suggestions."

  • "GREAT FIND. I had not been to Asbury Park in some time and was a little concerned. The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was very nice. Would definitely go again."

  • "We really enjoyed our food here. The salads were very well prepared, and the pasta dishes we had were perfectly done. This was house made pasta and it was expertly prepared. We didn't realize they specialized in steaks though until the waiter told us so we were prepared to order classic Italian. We may come back for the steaks because they sound good. A nice night."
