  • "Great kitchen, not so great front room staff. Not accommodating of guest special request that any cook could easily have handled (request was obviously not brought to attention of kitchen). Made mistake in souffle dessert order (or gave it to another customer) but comped coffee as apology. BYO, very reasonable prices for quality of food. Covered outdoor seating."

  • "My husband and I have been going to Brandl for years and will continue to do so. The decor is lovely and the service is great! But most notable is the food. Definately food for foodies and always prepared perfectly. We've never had a bad meal. It's BYO so that makes it even better. We typically start with a bottle of champagne which is immediately put in an ice bucket and poured into chilled glasses... and then move to a bottle of red. I recommend the oyster shooters to start (if they're not on the menu, ask for them) and finish off your meal with a made to order souffle. You will love it!"

  • "We went with another couple for Jersey Shore Restaurant week and it was pretty crowded and quite noisy. Heard good things about the food and were excited to try it. Half of us had great food. The prefixed menu had up charges on more than half of the menu. Felt like we were being nickel and dimed. Fortunately it was a byo. The service was not very good. The maître d was rude and barely acknowledged us when we arrived because he was apparently too busy. Our server was very friendly, but the maître d took our orders. Not only was he short in answering our questions, but he was also inaccurate on a specific dish question. All-in-all we were disappointed and would probably not return."

  • "Dined with my wife on a Saturday for Restaurant Week. Waited close to an hour to be seated after our 8:00 reservation time and received a weak, condescending apology from the manager. We almost walked out at the end because it was taking so long to receive our bill. Service from beginning to end was almost non-existent- what contact we did have with any staff was poor and carried an attitude. A pity, because the food was fantastic. The chef/owner truly needs to get a new manager for his dining room because we weren't the only people who had a night like this- just ask the party of three who reserved for 8:00, arrived at 7:50, and didn't sit until 9:00- they were more livid than I was at the way the manager treated and spoke to them."

  • "Been wanting to try Brandl for awhile. Finally got an opportunity when we celebrated my birthday. Our server had a bit of a snobby attitude, but overall service was very good. Our water glasses were never empty and plates and silverware were cleared and renewed promptly. The lamb was excellent, with enough to share and the grouper special was enjoyed. The bread pudding for dessert can't be missed, even if you are full. A bit noisy because of a big table of celebrators, but just join in on the fun and have a good time!"

  • "Brandl is one of the places that you can just depend on giving you a quality meal. We had the reliable brick chicken and the lobster risotto. Both were excellent after the grilled salad and soup. PB&C for desert with coffee rounded things out. The effort spent to refurbish the dining area was well worth the time and effort. It has a bit of ambiance now with the tables, paintings and oversized lighting."

  • "Four of us dined here on a weeknight so, not crowded. There was a price fixe offer for $30.13 which gave a choice of the appetizers (not all are included) or a soup or salad as well as dinner (again, not all entrees are included) and desert (also not all). Food was delicious. One of our group said it was the best meal he has ever eaten! He had the tuna, which was not included in the price fixe also the beet salad which he loved! Another had the roasted caesar salad and the steak, cooked perfectly as well as the mahi-also perfectly done and the chicken. It is a BYO so more affordable. Hadn't been here in a while and am happy to say it still is wonderful."

  • "We had to wait 30 minutes after arriving on time. On a Saturday night, the restaurant hosted a private party of approx. 40 people. We were, unfortunately, unable to carry on a conversation due to the noise level. For a party of this size, the restaurant should not have accepted other reservations. The acoustics are poor to begin with and this was like dining at a rock concert. The food was actually very good, but the dining experience was ruined by the fact that we were adjacent to a large party. If you want to dine there, I suggest you ask in advance about private parties and/or wear ear plugs."

  • "We were a party of four. I'll start with the appetizer/salads. I ordered the escargot. They lacked garlic. Salads were good. My wife and one of our friends had Brandl's "signature dish" of Lazy Lobster. In both dishes, the lobster was tough. They were very disappointed. My other friend had the lamb dish and said it was good. I had the special duck dish and it was excellent. Too bad everyone else didn't feel the same way about their entrees. We didn't have dessert."

  • "While I don't think it a normal happening, the restaurant had a private party that took up half the restaurant. The regular diners sat in the other half in very cramped surroundings. With the private party came a very loud atmosphere. I would check in the future if there were any private parties that evening. It affected the conversation level at our table and the normally good service. However it did not affect the excellent food at Brandl. Overall three stars in a normally 4.5 star restaurant."

  • "Crab salad. Very good Tuna tartar. Even better Filet mignon. Cooked fine but prob an 8 oz cut. Tiny. Beef rib. Burnt flavor overpowered the tender meat. Dont order that. All in all a nice place but not worth the 150.00 price tag. And i brought my own wine!!!"

  • "The amuse was four tater tots, the lamb was well under seasoned, the lobster bisque had more potato cubes than lobster and the pecan pie looked like they got it out of a vending machine. And to top it off, I was charged $75 a piece and it was Valentine's Day! I would never go again."

The bluepoint oysters, however, were fresh and briny. The crusted tuna was cooked as requested: seared on the outside; cool on the inside. And the duck was tender."

  • "appetitzers - small and bit pricey (tuna tower and crab cakes) the calamari appy was worth the price and taste the entreees were excellent...good portions and tasty/well done (rack of lamp and seared pepper tuna) large souflle was average but I wouldn't spend $24 on that dessert again. service was excellent...attentive and knowledgeable. BYOB I will defintiely return to this restaurant."

  • "I have been to Brandl before and have always enjoyed their signature dish of Lazy Lobster. I did find it to lack some salt, but then again I like salt. It was very tasty, but I just wanted more salt. My husband had the Thai Shrimp which was outstanding. Very flavorful with a bit of a bite to it. Of course, I ordered the Chocalate Soufle when I ordered dinner and it was amazing. I love their soufle and it ended the evening perfectly. I went on an off night and it was quiet. However, I do know that during the summer this place can be a bit busy. Overall I would definitely go back."

  • "Very upscale restaurant, food was outstanding, ambiance was very nice. Service could be improved somewhat, however. I had the feeling we were being watched a little too closely as the young busboys seemingly couldn't clear the table fast enough. It was New Years Eve and they had a special menu for the evening, however, when I'm spending $85.00 per person I don't want to feel rushed. Overall this was an exceptional dining experience foodwise, the rest of the elements just need to be improved a little. I would definitely go back to Brandl, as well as recommend it to everyone I know. It would just have to be a very special occasion. This is not the restaurant the average person would dine in often unless you just won the lottery."

  • "We've been to Brandl a lot as a couple. This xmas eve, our normal plans got cancelled, so we decided to take our kids to Brandl for a really nice dinner out. Service was non-existent - even when we were one of the only seated tables. Our kids didnt even get offered a kids menu - which would have saved me a good bit of money with a 10yr old who rarely eats what she orders. We got there at 6pm, the restaurant got crowded at 7ish - so there was plenty of time to give us adequate service."
