  • "We were seated immediately upon entering as they had the reservation from Open Table waiting. We have eaten brunch here before and the quality and quantity of the food has not changed. Everything was well prepared and very tasty. The variety of food available was outstanding and we could not have been more satisfied. No waiting in long lines to serve yourself and the entrees were replenished very quickly. The service was excellent including removing the dirty dishes quickly as we went to fill another plate. We will be back again."

  • "We went for the Easter Brunch and as usual the food and service were excellent. The acoustics are not good so it does get a little noisy."

  • "Had a wonderful dinner last Tuesday. Our party of 3 all had different entrees. Each was out of this world. The braised ribs melted in your mouth, pecan crusted salmon was so delicious and the meat loaf was just like home. The salads were great. You must try the house dressing. Soups were very tasty. Will be there again and again. Made reservations for the Easter buffet. Menu looks so inviting."

  • "My husband & I ate here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. He had the meatloaf, I had the lemon chicken. We LOVED the fried green tomato appetizer. We highly recommend trying them. Both of us were beyond satisfied with our selections. The food was hot, beautifully arranged and the prices were really reasonable. The jazz singer was a huge plus for us. The owner came out and talked to us and wished us well for our special occasion. Overall experience was wonderful! We WILL be back!"

  • "The sweet potato fries were cold and stuck in a ball like they were reheated. The chicken dinner was small and appeared to be reheated. Aug. potatoes were too salty. Shrimp Scampi was all mixed together and floating in oil, the few shrimp that were in it had tails left on. The burger was cool. Succatash was just lima beans and corn. The onion soup was good. The lunch special price ended up being more than what was advertised! We will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant to our friends and family"

  • "They need to get a sound expert in to do away with the noise factor. Worse than a bar."

  • "Service was great. Bread pudding to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great liver and onions. The pot pie crust was burnt. Only reason food not rated excellent."

  • "We moved to Ocala 5 years ago and this is the first restaurant with the whole package - Wide variety of great food; attentive and friendly waitress; and live music."

  • "Been to this restaurant in Ocala FL several times. Always a good experience. Service is excellent. Superb menu. Felix's meat loaf is a special treat. Blues & jazz music and singing top-notch, and danceable. Scenic bar area."

  • "We enjoy your food but the music from the bar is way too loud. We could not hear the conversation and we do not have hearing problems. It would be more enjoyable if the music as background and not primary. It was bad enough that I would take it into consideration next time we decide to eat out."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding quality of the jazzy/blue singer performing during our Saturday evening dinner here. I forget his name, but the wait staff raved about him as one of their best acts. It made for a pleasant ambience to catch up with family. The food was good but not spectacular … the macaroni and fried onion were excellent bets (and though "country fried filet mignon" sounded more refined than plain old "country fried steak", it essentially amounted to the same type of dish at a higher price point). This place was a great find overall - we enjoyed it and would definitely go back!"

  • "This was our first visit to the Braised Onion, we arrived on time as per our reservation. We were seated by two very nice greeters without delay. We were assigned a waitress in training who was very nice. We ordered drinks which arrived quickly, we also were advised that there were SPECIALS being served that evening 3/01/2014. The waitress gave us the specials one being a pasta & seafood dish that I have ordered in other restaurants. My wife & I had a good dinner until the bill arrived WOW we were charged $30.00 for a pasta special after the waitress stated the specials she did not give pricing. I am also at fault for not asking the price. The pricing seemed excessive for a past & seafood meal that other restaurants charge $20.00 for."

  • "Our first visit to the Braised Onion. Our server,Jeannie was fantastic. We both ordered the salmon with different sides. My wife having macaroni and cheese, which she said was excellent while I had the cheese grits. We both had house salads and finished off with the recommended bread pudding, a masterpiece. A truly enjoyable meal."

  • "We had a great experience last Thursday evening. Our waiter, Tony, was absolutely the best. The manager came to our table to inquire if we were having a great dining experience and we were happy to tell him we were. Looking forward to our next visit."

  • "We love the food at the Braised Onion. But it is very noisy there esp when they have live music. Really takes away from the experience"

  • "We have had dinner at this restaurant on 4 or 5 occasions, and it has been consistently good. Comfort food (chicken pot pie) and fancier fish dishes. Must order the Mac and cheese side dish. Best I've ever had!"

  • "A lovely place w/good food, ambience & music, but not too loud. A great find!"

  • "We had a reservation for 6:30 and had to wait more than 30 minutes for a table. It was a bit frustrating."

  • "We went on Valentine's Day and it was super crowded. They managed to handle all reservations within 30 minutes of scheduled time. Because of the occasion and expected crowd they offered a slimmed down "Holiday" Menu. Make sure you have the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Braised Onions appetizers - excellent. Pecan encrusted salmon is a house favorite. Peanut Butter pie for dessert. There is entertainment in the bar area but the noise level is too high - conversation is at the "shout" level."

  • "We made reservations 2 weeks early for Valentines day at 7pm. Got there at 7 and at 7:50 we got seated. Prior to being seated, the girl asked if we had reservations, We said yes 2 weeks ago and They even confirmed that we were still comming 2 days earlier. We asked If we didn't have reservation how did our name get on their computer for 7:00? We also noted people were getting switched around on their computer, probably to accommodate some friends. I ordered a second glass of wine and never received it, but it did make it on to the bill. The bottom line is that they clearly over booked for the night, and a few people demonstrated their displeasure with that. They were very much out of control in general. Not likely to go back."

  • "I took my parents out to dinner and found this great dining experience. The food was all good, the service was spot on. The only negative point I would give is the noise level is a little high."

  • "This is our third time here and me and my husband have ordered different things all three times and would recommend everything we have eaten so far except the meat loaf. The gravy was very salty. We went recently with friends and we had Chicken pot pie, short ribs, Mai piccata and the cheese burger and we all raved about our food. The service is wonderful and the nice thing is the consistency of the food and service. We are already planning our next trip back."

  • "We were a party of 10 people going out to dinner before the theater. Our table was ready in a side room when we arrived and the waitress was very efficient. She timed the delivery of our meals and our checks so that we were finished in plenty of time to get to the theater. Everyone was pleased with their meals. I had the liver and onions with a side salad and the Mac and cheese. Delicious. We would go back again."

  • "The decor of the restaurant was attractive.....wood tones and warm feeling. The noise level was high. There was a variety of menu choices and the food was good. We ordered pecan salmon, meatloaf and braised shortribs. The service was excellent. We will definitely return."

  • "Everything was outstanding. It's easy to see why the chef is award-winning. Short ribs, liver and onions were melt in your mouth. I don't typically order chicken pot pie, but it was recommended by friends and it was incredible. Looking forward to our next trip there."

  • "I've eat way better for less money. all 3 meals were tasteless."
    Dined on 12/20/2013
  • "The main course was excellent. The cabrese salad did not have fresh tomatoes, very hard and not ripe. The creme brûlée was soupy, not congealed like a custard. The salmon and steak were very good. I enjoyed the light jazz music."

  • "This was our second time to the restaurant, and it was just as good if not better. Highly recommend to everyone............Staff is terrific, works well together."

  • "Having been to The Braised Onion the past 2 Thanksgivings, I wanted to try their regular menu and recently had the opportunity to do so on the way back from Gainesville. I had lobster bisque and seafood manicotti and my roommate had the corn chowder and pecan crusted salmon. Everything was excellent, although the pasta for the manicotti was a little tough on some of the edges. Overall, I would definitely go back again."

  • "My family went to Braised Onion for our Thanksgiving dinner this year. The food was very good considering it was a buffet, which can sometimes disappoint. Service was very good. Our waiter was very attentive"

  • "The assortment of choices was very good. If you didn't want turkey you could have ham, fish, good variety of vegetables. The one pan of dressing I felt was dried out. The baked pasta was ice cold. Our reservation was for 3 p.m. most of the food appeared to be just put out. I tried the pasta when there was just a small amount taken and it was cold. If it had been hot it would have really been good. It tasted good it just wasn't warm. Good assortment of salad makings. Several dessert choices. We felt it was a little pricey. We would return but perhaps not on a holiday. The noise level was very loud and it was very hard to carry on a conversation at our table of four."
