Diner Reviews
  • "We go here often as it the perfect location before any of the pittsburgh theaters- It is a very comfortable atmosphere. The Food is great, the service has always been wonderful. The every changing Perogi feature is always a treat!"

  • "Food was outstanding, damn shame that there was annoying noise from a very nearby wedding at the hotel and that the wine list is priced up in the stratosphere (food was reasonably priced, to be fair.) I love wine with a nice dinner but there is no way I am going to pay $60+ for a wine I routinely put on my table at home for $16. And I enjoy quiet during a meal, but they insist on opening the restaurant to the lobby letting in all manner of noise including the aforementioned wedding party. If you are hard of hearing (or love noise) and don't drink (or too wealthy to care about the price of the wine) then you must dine here, the food really is VERY good."

  • "I've always been pleased with Braddock's, but this time something was missing with the food. In particular, the crab cake starter had much more filler, and the "Pork & Beans" (braised pork shank) was lacking in flavor, in fact it seemed to be "warmed up". Perhaps it was warmed up before as well, but this time it lacked the zing I'm used to. Next time I'll try the Kielbasa started, and something else for my entree."

  • "There were 3 of dining. The apps were fantastic and my steak was great, however the rest of party were not happy with their meal ( fish and chips and the 1/2 chicken). We loved their Moscow mule and chocolate martinis."

  • "It was my first time. It definitely won't be the last. The filet was amazing."

  • "I honestly never heard of this place, but saw the good reviews on Open Table and decided to give it a try before seeing a show. Honestly it was one of the best dinners my wife and I have ever had. Her Gnocchi and Lobster dish was so light and delicious and my salmon was cooked perfectly. Can't recommend it more."

  • "Everything we got was fantastic. Every staff member we talked to was extremely friendly and professional. My husband and I have already made reservations to go again!"

  • " I expected this to be a four star restaurant from the comments from other customer. I never expected to have to ask for water that I saw on other tables but was not offered. The Crab Cakes were served with a side of a few sparse asparagus. The presentation of this meal was not good! When I commented to the waiter about this he offered to bring me "more" sparse looking asparagus not a different side. We also ordered ice tea that came with no ice, lemon, straw or ice tea soon. Bread, which we also had to ask for was stall. This was not one of our better meals and will not be returning. I realize many of the issues were with the server, but some of the problems were directly with the restaurants management."

  • "My friend and I were going to the theater and decided to try Braddock's for dinner. A salmon dish was the special that evening, and oh, what a delightful dish it turned out to be! It was a special northern salmon over a layer of artichokes, feta and rice, and topped with a tomato pesto and sprigs of greens. My friend had filet mignon, which was just melt-in-your mouth delicious. Our server was very attentive, but not invasive. We will definitely go back to Braddock's American Brasserie again!"

  • "We decided to try Braddock's at the Renaissance before the CLO because we had a gift certificate. What an excellent experience it was! The food was great and the service was even better. They let us split a salad and an entre so that we would have room for the tomato bisque which was outstanding. Just a short walk from the Benedum this is a new top choice for us."

  • "Their Mahi-Mahi special was every bit what the waitress described, it had a lot of taste. The 18 oz bone-in ribeye steak was tender and juicy. I was pleasantly surprised there was hardly any fat and the bone the size of a lamb chop. It came with potatoes and asparagus. Both cooked to perfection! We have made this restaurant our dining place every time we come to town for symphonies and broadway shows."

  • "Had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. Had the filet and it was cooked to perfection. Service was great. Was not busy - reasonable price for the meal. Would definitely recommend this location!"

  • "We went on a Friday evening (early) before the symphony. Pleasant, timely service, good drinks from the bar, very good food. Setting was reasonably quiet (it was still early) and dignified (no kids, probably too expensive). Price was quite reasonable ($300 for five, including tip) for downtown. One minor flaw -- the bathroom was pretty far away. But, that certainly did not detract from a very nice dining experience!"

  • "My husband, son and I had a wonderful lunch. We had been on the road for five hours prior to lunch and wanted a quiet place to visit with my son and relax. The staff was friendly, attentive and made menu suggestions. We stayed in the hotel housing this restaurant, and liked both the Renaissance Hotel and Braddock's . The sandwich portions were large enough to share, and were delicious. The staff was happy to split them for us. We will definitely eat at this restaurant and stay in this hotel again when we visit. "

  • "We chose Braddock's for our double-date-night dinner because it was next door to the Byham, where we had tickets to the show, and was very convenient. While we had eaten in the bar before and found it to be quite excellent, we'd never sat in the restaurant before, but had high hopes due to our previous experience. We were not disappointed. Every aspect of the meal was fabulous, from the ambience to the service to the cocktails to the food, all met or exceeded all of our expectations. We shared the featured appetizer, and all got different entrees and cocktails, and everyone was quite satisfied - the ingredients and preparation was delicious, and the portions were quite generous. We will definitely be patronizing them in the future."

  • "Beet and goat cheese salad, Chef Red's potato gnocchi. Schedule confession because something this good must surely be a sin. "

  • "Just delightful! We had a reservation for dinner before going to the Symphony. The dining room was quite empty to my dismay! Not a good sign! However everything we ordered was perfect and we'll come back often!"

  • "This restaurant in the Pgh Renaissance hotel has changed a bit over the years. It is more conventional -- and continental -- now but very good. We enjoyed a great bruschetta appetizer with goat cheese and roasted red peppers (instead of the usual tomato chunks), followed by two great entrees: a large, fresh Caesar salad topped with chicken, and my Amish chicken half accompanied by a wonderful red pepper polenta. I didn't even think i liked polenta, but this was great. They also gladly swapped another veggie for me when I said no to the asparagus that was offered. Nice setting and fun to watch people come and go through the hotel lobby, esp on a prom night."

  • "Dinner was superb! My husband and I loved our meals, just melted in your mouth! My husbands' breakfast was better than mine. I had the French toast and it appeared and tasted as if regular thin bread was used, nothing special."
    Dined on 5/20/2014
  • "There were four of us, we all had something different and we were all very pleased. My crab cakes were the best I have had. My husbands salmon with whiskey glaze was prepared perfectly....not over cooked. We were all too full for dessert but the dessert selections looked wonderful. We will definitely be going back.....and saving room for dessert!"

  • "We've eaten here twice and will be back often. The food is outstanding. Prices are a bit high, but are comparable to similar restaurants of this quality. Service was superb. Everything - from the goat cheese/beet salad (available as a side or a meal) to the "lick the plate" Whisky Glazed Salmon - was delicious and cooked perfectly. It's in the Cultural District, so this place is perfect before or after shows. Hands down, best choice for a great meal if you're heading to any of the venues in the area."

  • "Braddock's is a definite favorite in the city near the cultural district! The food and service is always great! The Spinach and Garlic are wonderful as are the truffle frites! I like the special from the chef as well, always excellent and imaginative!"

  • "My husband and I took our parents here for the Mother's Day brunch buffet, and I was underwhelmed, to say the least. For nearly $40 a person, I had expected fresh, quickly-rotating, well-prepared food. Unfortunately, a few of the dishes seemed to have been overcooked and then left to sit open in their warming trays for quite a while, making them dry and tough. They also sat us in a corner of the lobby where they had their dirty dish station RIGHT behind us, which was not very pleasant. Lastly, we were surprised that a 20% gratuity was automatically added for our server, despite the meal being a buffet. She did occasionally bring us drinks and take our plates, but 20% is usually only standard, in my experience, for a full-service meal. "

  • "I took my wife and family to Braddocks for Mothers Day brunch expecting an upscale experience. We were bitterly disappointed. We certainly paid an upscale price, over $260 for a party of six. Once you got past the impressive lobby the dining area was hotel plain. The food was fair overall. The service was the worst I have had in years. We had duly made reservations for 10am but arrived at 9:50 to find the buffet not completed, a long line of people and no one seating. We then had to wait for a table to be cleared and set until 10:20 to be seated despite multiple tables set and ready. At 10:45 I had to find a busboy to get a waiter. Just horrible."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "We almost always get great food here, and it's great to wait for others in the beautiful lobby. This time, with bizarro traffic, the valet service is the only way we made dinner and the theater."

  • "Plenty of good drinks on the menu and some tasty options on the dinner menu."

  • "Disappointed tonight. I ordered hanger steak medium well. It came back medium rare so I returned it. Sauce was put on top of my medium rare steak. No flavor even with the sauce. We will not return even though we have been there for almost 4 years."

  • "I have visited Braddock's American Brasserie multiple times. I usually go for drinks in their bar. They are particularly known as a whiskey bar, having a wide selection to choose. They also have a notable wine list. I have also attended Braddock's for their weekend brunch buffet, which did not stand out as special, but had a great selection to once from as well as made to order items. This trip to Braddock's was for dinner and drinks. I got their special which was a beef rib and Chilean sea bass stuff and turf. It was fantastic. Others in my group were also very impressed with their meals, which included whiskey glazed salmon and steak frites. It was all expensive in the end, but flavor and serving justified cost. "

  • "The booth seating is romantic and quiet.....out of the way and very nice. However the leather seats are old, worn material and should be replaced. Very distasteful to sit upon. Did NOT like the olde fashioned "jelly jars" which are now the water glasses. What were they thinking? For a restrauant of this quality and taste I do not see the point!? The food and service, as always, was wonderful!"

  • "While we always love eating here, the restaurant was very busy; as a result, it took quite a while for our dinner to be served. The food was delicious. Our server (I think his name was Louis) was pleasant, but didn't bring water--we had to ask for it. And because we needed to be at the symphony by 8:00 and it was already 7:30, we skipped coffee and dessert because we figured it would take too long. As the reservations pile up, you ought to add some additional wait staff because I knew they were working hard. Food was delicious as always, but the cauliflower casserole seemed runny."

  • "This was our third time here and it continues to impress. We had a party of 6 and service was excellent. Ambiance is fantastic, having the shared lounge/lobby with the Renaissance provides a pleasant dynamic not commonly afforded to comparable restaurants. Add to that an invorgorating atmosphere all around is guaranteed to provide a pleasant dining experience. Oh and the food was spot on with a broad menu selection set to accommodate any palate. Great food requires good drink to wash it down and Braddock's baristas have honed their craft."

  • "We often go to Braddocks prior to a show or lecture downtown. It is easy walking distance to all of the theaters. It is in an older downtown building and they have restored some of the very interesting and attractive architecture. Our experiences have ranged from mediocre to very good. The food is consistently of high quality, the service is the variable. Despite the fact that we always let the server know our time frame, we have had to run to our event at times. Overall we like the experience but it is the location that brings us back. "

  • "Food was ok but nothing special. Fine if you want to get a quick dinner before the show, but nothing special."

  • " At first I didn't think that this was going to be a pleasant experience. The hostess was not, well let's talk about the positive things. The place is beautiful, very clean, well lit. (I hate a dark and dingy restaurant, it makes me wonder what are they trying to hide.) The food selection was very impressive and very well laid out. The staff was very professional. An employee, I'm not sure what his job was, noticed I was looking under every lid to see what was there. He took the time to walk with me and explain, exactly what everything was. The waiter, if we wanted something or just had a question, he was there. They really go all out to make you feel welcome. Such a pleasurable experience, I can't wait to go back."

  • "A lot of variety in food which was not hot nor very tasty. Example: beef was NOT prime rib, dried out; pierogies dough was tough; cobbler was like canned cherries; red pepper polenta was bland; nothing really outstanding where you would want to spread the word that this is a "not to be missed" Easter buffet. Will get an early start next year and definitely try to get into anther restaurant!"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "Our Easter Brunch was fine - the food was somewhat inconsistent on the Brunch Buffet - some very good items (Salmon) and some not so good & a bit dried out. The service was superb and it's such a nice atmosphere. For an Easter Brunch I was expecting a little more 'wow' factor on the buffet, but it was okay. Food items were not labeled, and I heard many complaints about this. Staff tried to tell folks what things were, but could not be there all the time. Most likely will not return - too many other great places to eat in Pittsburgh!"

  • "We stopped in to have a casual dinner before the baseball game. Right across the bridge from PNC Park. Elegant food but you can be casual. FOOD was excellent and the staff was very efficient and friendly. I highly recommend for a nice couples dinner or eventhe whole gang before the gameo r anytime you was a delicous meal."

  • "Good food, friendly service, and great location next to the Byham theater. We had a great date night with dinner and a show next door and would go back again. The highlight was the charcuterie plate and the tomato basil bisque."

  • "We went to Braddock's because we had tickets for a concert next door at the Byham Theatre. The logistics were perfect with a parking garage directly across the street. The hotel lobby is fantastic and a great preamble for the luxurious interior of Braddock's. Food and service all great. Lots of time to linger over a great meal before we went next door to see Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings."
