  • "Good food, friendly service, and great location next to the Byham theater. We had a great date night with dinner and a show next door and would go back again. The highlight was the charcuterie plate and the tomato basil bisque."

  • "We went to Braddock's because we had tickets for a concert next door at the Byham Theatre. The logistics were perfect with a parking garage directly across the street. The hotel lobby is fantastic and a great preamble for the luxurious interior of Braddock's. Food and service all great. Lots of time to linger over a great meal before we went next door to see Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings."

  • "Stayed at Renaissance Hotel and ate at restaurant before the Opera! We received a free appetizer with our stay, but one of the appetizers wasn't very good! The goat cheese and red pepper was great! My husband had veal snitzel and I had the scallops! His meal didn't agree with his stomach. The wine was very pricey by glass, 10$, but that is expected!"

  • "This restaurant has a great location being just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Cultural District; in addition, it is directly across the street from a $5 parking garage. The atmosphere/ambience was romantic, appealing, stylish, relaxed, and comfortable. Good food with a variety of choices; so, there is something for everyone on the menu. The wait staff was very attentive. And...and....and, as a first time customer, having made a reservation via their website, I was provided a BOGO entree coupon, electronically. Good deal!"

  • "Bread and bruschetta bread had be at least a day old if not older. Too hard to bite through and impossible to cut. Pierogies we're hard and flavorless. Fish and chips were flavorless and fish was soggy inside. Meatballs were tough and very over salted. Lobster gnocchi was in a gelatinous sauce - very unpleasant. Overall the onion soup was the only thing we enjoyed food wise. The servers tried hard to please but we would never go back because the food was so awful and too pricey for the poor quality. Hard to believe a nice hotel like the Renaissance has such a dump of a restaurant! We thought this place would be perfect for food networks show 'restaurant impossible'."

  • "I ate here on Saturday 3/29/14. Everything was great. Food, service and atmosphere. I had the salmon. The others in my party had the steak frites and seabass (dinner special). If you're a whiskey drinker they have a pretty decent selection to choose from. Right around the corner from the Cabaret and I was able to make reservations online, which I recommend because it was busy. I will be back soon."

  • "We had dinner here after a Cirque show, and there was a show going on at the hotel at the same time. I called ahead to say we were there, but parking was taking 15+ minutes just across the street, and the staff was so nice and said they'd hold the table for 30 minutes. Once there, the atmosphere was fantastic! I almost felt like I was in a fancy Vegas hotel, looking into the lobby from the restaurant. I got the Lobster Gnocchi, and my husband got the fish and chips. Both were amazing. We split the crab cake appetizer, again, amazing. I'm sorry we didn't have room for dessert!"

  • "I have been working downtown for over 16 years &I love to go out to eat to different restaurants for lunch. When it was suggested that I go to Braddock's by a peer I thought what & where was this place. I found it strange that I didn't know anything about this place especially since I've passed it numerous times. Well to make long story short...the food was excellent and our service was great. I had ordered the Shadyside Devonshire which was awesome. Our server, Jesse, was very attentive & a great waitress. Braddock's is a hidden gem that had us seated in no time & for an upscale place w/excellent food, the prices for lunch were very cheap. I like this hidden gem & will most assuredly return in the new future (like next week hahaha)."

  • "We go once every few months to this restaurant and always like the food and the setting. Scallops are excellent along with small plates and appetizers. Our server Michelle was very good as we like to eat slow. Will start going to the bar more during Baseball season. Lots of beers."

  • "If you are looking for atmosphere, a great meal and the best service ever - go to Braddock's at the Rennaisance. Not only did our server take care of us but there were two OTHER servers watching over our needs. After Justin took our order, quickly thereafter another server stopped by to let us know she'd bring us some bread. Another quietly came by and filled our water classes and yet another was at our table in no time flat with our meal. Then, to top things off -- since LIFE is ALL about pictures (how DID we live without Instagram before now?!) the Maitre d' took our photo with the fabulous staircase in the background! Loved it and it will be my one and only place to eat every time I attend a venue at the Benedum or Heinz Hall."

  • "I took my daughter, age 8, and her friend here for lunch prior to a show at the Byham Theater next door. We enjoyed our meal, although it was quick and not extensive. Service was very good on this visit. I had a great steak sandwich!"

  • "As usual, a great Bloody Mary to start, and outstanding meals of grouper and crab cakes. Michele was attentive as always, paced the meal very well, and anticipated every need. We never felt rushed, and we certainly left feeling comfortably full."

  • "Since I grew up in a Slovak family, I love perogies. Your variety of perogies are the best I have ever eaten. When I got the email about the corn beef ones for St. Patrick's Day, my husband and I made sure we took the trip sometime in March from Alexandria, VA to Pittsburgh. It was a good excuse to visit relatives in Pittsburgh. Ok, just a note, you need to replace some of the booth seats, ours was a bit torn up and old looking, This is truly a classy place and needs upgraded booths"

  • "Set in the historic Renaissance Hotel on 6th and Penn Braddocks is very pleasant to the eye with Rotunda and Marble. Amazing, they don't make buildings like this anymore. So our reservation was for 5pm and we got there at 4pm. The bar was open across lobby and the bartender was friendly. Promptly seated at 5pm. I had the Rib-Eye with asparagus and mashed potatoes. EXCELLENT. She had the salmon which is not my favorite at all (actually I would never order it or cook it) but as far as salmon goes its number 2 on my list only to any Salmon place in Seattle. so it was good. We also had the kielbasa and stuffed banana pepper for appetizer. Waitress was very pleasant and got what ever we need. AAA"

  • "Don't pass over this restaurant because it is in a hotel. As good as any place around. Great pre-concert location...both the hotel and restaurant. Try the salmon, scallops, or pork and beans. I know what you're thinking about pork and beans...but trust me!! Excellent service as well."

  • "If you like whiskey, this is the place. Our server brought us the bar menu, when asked, and sampling the flights was great fun. We've been before and were in a hurry to get to a show so we only ordered 3 appetizers to share between the 2 of us and were more than sated on the kielbasa, the bruschetta and the stuffed pepper. Lobby decor is so pretty and unique. Booths in restaurant are cozy and private. I was say food here is consistent, better than "hotel fare" but maybe 1/2 to 1 star short of "outstanding." Same with servers...they are good but not always 100% excellent.... That's OK! We'll be back again. It's reliable and convenient."

  • "Good location near theaters. Food was bland--it wasn't terrible--just bland. I tried the crab cake appetizer and beet/goat cheese salad with polenta stuffed ball. it's difficult to swallow cold fried goat cheese. The mixed drink was not good, neither was the Sangria. Atmosphere, decor very nice. I would recommend it for the location and atmosphere, but don't expect alot from the food."

  • "This has long been one of our favorite places for dinner prior to attending one of the many cultural events in downtown Pittsburgh. However, we had never been there for Sunday brunch. It was excellent -- good menu plus a fine buffet with made-to-order omelets and other breakfast items, which we all chose. All in a wonderful old hotel. And they even have valet parking and will keep your car while you are attending your event. We will return, I am sure."

  • "Pleasant atmosphere, good service, they sent me an invitation to their E club with a discount I appreciated. Try the short rib pirogues -- i could make them a meal. I think I will do an menu of their good starters next time. Good for pares theater"

  • "We went Saturday with 2 couples Our server was nice but several times our entire table had empty drinks. He recommended the short rib pierogies which were ok but not great. The actual pierogies tasted like store bought but the sauce was amazing. The charcuterie board was a joke and way over priced for lunch meat. The cuts were way to big and not thinly sliced. The bacon mustard almost makes up for it. The fried risotto was awesome as was the bruschetta. We all enjoyed our main dishes but my husbands steak was over cooked. Desserts were good. My biggest issue besides empty drinks was that our waiter's his tip was added in which we were not made aware of. We added a tip to the hefty $150 bill, only realized after that tip was included."

  • "I've been to Braddock's American Brasserie many times. The food is always wonderful. One could not expect more attention from the wait staff and all the others who stop by to ask if everything is okay. I will dine here again and again. I just wish the food was seved hot."

  • "We took my adult children and friends here prior to a performance at Heinz Hall. It was their first time, even though my husband and I have been there many times. We ordered mussels to share and everyone scooped them up. The strip mussels are good- the dijon ones are fantastic. We had a diverse group of dinners, from appetizers and soup or salad to full dinners. My husband raves about the goat cheese/beet salad and this time he added the tasty hanger steak. I had a crab cake, good and their tomatoe bisque soup, which is tremendous. The others all liked their meals and would love to go back (as long as we are paying the bill!). There are no bad choices in this restaurant. Also, you can park valet and they will validate!"

  • "We loved the feel of this place - romantic with great ambiance and without feeling "stuffy"! We will definitely return to try their pierogi specialties. The bruschetta was amazing and the House Salad was a great start to our dinner. (We ordered the small portion with dinner....but you can order a larger size for a meal.) The crab cakes were excellent....no fillers, and the Hanger Steak was exceptional!! For dessert, we shared the chocolate pierogies with bourbon glazed cherries and cinnamon ice cream and it was to die for!!! Our service was well-timed and extremely friendly....our waitress even provided us with history of the Fulton Building!"

  • "Good hotel food. Convenient in cold evening and staying in Renaissance, but better restaurants in theater district. Very tasty and well prepared gnocchi let down by overcooked and slightly rubbery lobster. Crab cakes ok, not much filler, but a bit oily. Server attentive and enthusiatic."

  • "We came to eat before seeing "Momma Mia". Our server was very polite and helpful for our menu questions. Our party order prime rib and the filet. Both were delicious but all of our food was served "warm" And not hot - from our soup, pirohi, to our mashed potato and asparagus. That is my only complaint."

  • "This was my 4th visit in the last year. It has an interesting menu with items not found everywhere. I would call it traditional Pittsburgh foods with a modern twist; i.e. Braised Short Rib Pirogue appetizer. The atmosphere is pleasantly quiet, the decorating a cross between local interest and sleek, and the overall experience is special without being intimidating. Bonus: the lobby of the Renaissance Hotel, with its 1905 marble staircase and balcony, is a lovely entrance to the restaurant and a nice place to sit and chat after dinner. Example of pricing: 4 adults: 2 appetizers, 2 rib-eye dinners, a seafood dinner, a pork dinner, 2 desserts, and a bottle of (house brand) wine was $269 including 25% tip for exceptional service."

  • "I took my very picky college-age daughter here for dinner before going to see Wicked. She loved it! It was a nice, "grown-up" dining experience for her. The food was delicious, and the service was even better! I usually avoid hotel restaurants, but this is so different. Give it a try!"

  • "Our server was pleasant and attentive, but the food was only moderately good for the price. We had the lobster gnocchi and the evening special, which was swordfish in a Mediterranean preparation on a bed of roasted red pepper polenta. The fish itself was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, but the preparation was very salty, and the polenta was gritty with little flavor. Several of the gnocchi were burned, and the lobster was dry. This is suppose to be their best selling dish. The flourless chocolate cake was very good. We were happy we had a gift certificate."
