We offer our guests a relaxed, yet formal dining experience, with a focus on Belgian cuisine with American inspiration. Choose from our Seven Course Tasting menu to fully realize Chef's vision, or enjoy selections from our a la carte menu. You’ll know you’re in a chef’s restaurant as the servers speak confidently about the menu. Many ingredients are sourced from local farmers, highlighting the bounty of the region. We feature an extensive list of small production, approachable wines from around the world.

We accept Opentable reservations for up to 10 guests, Sunday through Thursday, and up to 7 guests on Friday and Saturday. If you would like to book a larger group than we offer on Opentable, please call Matty Fanning at 703.894.3440 to discuss options for up to 14 guests. We'll be happy to work with you to provide a special menu and experience for your larger gathering!

  • "We have been fans of Marcels for years, so we were excited to try Brabo. The food did not disappoint. Appetizers (oysters, pork cheeks) were scrumptious and the entrees matched. The seafood dishes in particular were fantastic. The service started out well but really fizzled at the end. A bit surprising given how impeccable the service is at Marcels. However, the food was good enough to compensate and we will give Brabo another chance."

  • "We have been to Brabo before and enjoyed the meal and service, so decided to take an out of town guest to the restaurant. The service was simply atrocious. We waited an unacceptable amount of time for the first course and even longer for the main course. When the entreee arrived, my wife's dish was cold. We sent it back and it came back without the oysters which were supposed to be in the dish. We were only a party of three and the restauraunt was not extremely busy. The quality of service would not be acceptable regardless of expense/rating, but was particularly aggravating given the high prices on the menu."

  • "We went to Brabo for the first time with a party of 5 to celebrate a birthday with guests from London. Beautiful dining room and nice menu (nicely executed as well!). However, the service was sub-par. Server #1 came to ask what type of water we wanted. About 10 minutes later, Server #2 asks the same question. Busboy brings water. Another 10 minutes. Server #2 takes a wine order and tells us Sommelier would bring bottle. Another 10 minutes, Server #2 brings bottle . . . It was like that the whole night, and it was difficult to get the attention of wait staff to ask for something. Given the rating of the restaurant and great service at other restaurants of the same caliber, disappointing choice."

  • "Having been to Mussel Bar and Marcel's, we were anticipating great things from Brabo. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Receptionist appeared bewildered, service was slow. Ordered a cocktail which was not as advertised. Mussels were bland, salad unimpressive, my husband's lobster risotto was too lemony. The restaurant could use a facelift. There is apparent wear and tear on woodwork. Maybe they had an off night, we were there on a Wednesday at 6:30 for dinner. Probably won't return."

  • "I went for brunch on a Sunday at 1pm. The ambiance and service are classy and old-school. The waiters were more than willing to go off-menu when I requested a bloody mary rather than the other brunch cocktails I saw on the menu. My crocque madam was delicious. The only only falter in the experience was dessert. While I've heard fantastic things about dessert after dinner at Brabo, I would not recommend getting your hopes up for dessert after brunch. Good quality, refined, classic options for brunch. Upscale atmosphere."

  • "Had another wonderful dinner at Brabo. Many of us ordered the mussels, which are a huge portion and come with frittes. They were plump, large and in a terrific sauce. Others tried the gnocchi, or octopus, which they enjoyed. Entrees were mostly fish in our group: swordfish, fluke, and cod, with one meat-eater who loved his dish. Everything was perfectly prepared and nicely presented, and our meal was not rushed. Chocolate napoleon for dessert was a real hit. this is a great place to celebrate an occasion, but it is also a nice place for a regular night out...even though it is not inexpensive."

  • "We enjoyed the evening's tasting menu of four dishes expertly paired with the sommelier's wine selections, with one exception of a disappointing dish and a terrible wine choice. The grilled octopus in our first course was stellar and in retrospect was the highlight of the meal, with the main course of highly marbled and ultra-tender beef brisket a close second. There were some inconsistencies in the food and wine, however our overall experience was very good."

  • "My Family party of 8 had an amazing brunch at Brabo! Food was delicious, service exceptional. Couldn't decide between sweet and savory - so we ordered everything from the eggs en cocotte, Roberts Eggs, Mussels and burgers, and shared crepes and waffles for the table. Niece and Nephew fought over the last of the mussels, and the house-made corn bread (even though there was plenty). All was great, and couldn't help ordering desserts to share with our cappuccinos. Kabocha squash cake - who knew it would be so good? Quiet enough for our conversation, lively enough for a atmosphere. Thank you Brabo - we had a lovely time and a great meal!"

  • "The waitstaff was excellent and the sommelier provided excellent advice on the wine. My app and my wife's dinner was excellent, however my main completely missed the mark on all levels. I ordered the steamed monkfish. The fish was flavorless, in fact it did not even have the taste and texture of monkfish, the puffed rice followed suit and was very bland. The lobster in the puffed rice was overcooked and chewy. There was also a ginger broth but like the rest of the dish it lacked flavor and I had to search hard for even a hint of ginger. Fortunately, the waitstaff took the dish off of the tab. Again the waitstaff was awesome and not to blame at all for this poorly conceptualized dish."

  • "Celebrated our anniversary dinner with the tasting menu here and loved it! Great service - valet parking is complimentary and with excellent service, sommelier knowledgable, and waiter attentive without being overbearing. Meal well-paced and request for an additional starter was accomodated, split, and worked into the tasting menu for us, including an extra half glass of wine (we did wine pairing). They will also accomodate combo tasting menu and a la carte menu, and tasting menu items are available a la carte. Mixed review on service at bar before dinner - one waiter very gruff and not helpful when asked for menu. Other waiter happily made great non-alcoholic drink but service kind of slow since bartenders also serve bar tables."

The tables are narrow and long so your date sits farther from you than your neighbor. Definately not a romantic dining experience. I had to talk very loudly and lean over the table to have a conversation. Food was good."

  • "The restaurant was beautiful and the lighting was romantic. We ordered the chef's tasting menu, which was a very good deal for the amount of food and the amazing quality it was. Although, the fish skin was not as crispy as I would have liked. Our server was great, but he came to is a bit more than we would have liked. But it is better to be a bit over zealous with the service than to be neglectful. All in all it was a wonderful evening we were provided with. 10/10 would dine again."

It's definitely the kind of place that people dress up for - don't be caught off guard there - and in this kind of setting I can see why. The aura and ambiance of the space is truly an escape.   • "It was our wedding anniversary and we chose Brabos as we have for our past two wedding anniversaries. We arrived at 7:40 and it was after 9:00 by the time our main course came. When the main course arrived, my wife’s lamb loin was raw (ordered medium). I waived to the waiter and he ignored me – finally got the attention of someone else. Her plate was about 1/3 fat and did not come with the side of mushrooms that our waiter stated. When we asked the waiter about it, his response was, “I know I told you that it came with a side of mushrooms – however, I misspoke. There are no mushrooms”. No one asked my wife how her meals – our waiter just asked if she was done. We won't be going back to Brabos anytime soon."

  • "This, our first visit to Brabo as new residents of Alexandria, came with high expectations. We were disappointed. The high point was the excellent bread but everything else was somewhat underwhelming. Fish that was slightly overcooked and thus dry, somewhat bland broth with the mussels, an overdressed "green" salad with too many components and good but somewhat under seasoned mushrooms. The menu seemed to have a paucity of vegetable choices that made choosing dishes a bit difficult. No soup was offered. Service may have crossed the fine line into being condescending. The restaurant did not provide good value especially the wine list that we thought to be terribly overpriced. We do not know if we will return."

  • "My wife and I went to Brabo for a special occasion. Having eaten there on a number of prior occasions -- and never having a less than excellent meal -- I took a chance on the tasting menu. I hadn't had any of the 4 courses listed on the tasting menu before and was trying to expand my culinary horizons. I expected to like the red snapper and thought I would find the other three courses interesting ... I left the restaurant having enjoyed each of the non-snapper courses more than the red snapper! And it was great. Can't recommend Brabo, and everything on the menu, more highly."

  • "This was a big disappointment. Despite the hype, the food was good but not worthy of the the Top 100 billing some have given it. Service was knowledgeable but very slow; though I like to take my time when dining out the time between courses caused me to think the waiter was lost. When our appetizer plates were collected he said the main courses would be out momentarily, by which he apparently meant 20 minutes. The lengthy time might have been reasonable had we not been seated at a round table that was too large for our party. There were five of us but the size of the table made conversation very difficult especially for the two elderly members of our party. At $450 this was not close to being worth a second try."
