The food was EXCELLENT...the service was attentive but it seemed as though our particular waiter was inexperienced. Overall it was a pleasant experience and another Weidmaier hit! We'll be back.

I've enjoyed Chef Wiedmaier's other restaurans, but this one is my absolute favorite. The food was amazing and interesting and so well prepared and presented. Everyone in our party of six was raving about what they ordered. The waiter was super friendly, but not overly attentive, he let us enjoy our time together. The other staff who helped serve us were incredibly kind and professional. Overall, one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in the DC area.

I have now been there twice. The food is superb, and the service was outstanding. One of my dining companions was pleasantly surprised that our waiter seemed very happy to be there as opposed to other restaurants where the staff does not appear so happy. The only glitch I had was that the cocktails took a while to make, but the restaurant opened less than a month ago so I am guessing that the bar staff is working on timing.

A wonderful experience for foodies and foodies in waiting. The wait staff is exceptional. However, the general manager caught a few routine errors (water, tea, salad plates not being filled or taken away expeditiously) and he took care of those things himself. The deputy GM also was on the ball. Like Citronelle, this is part of the hotel and it is a mix of locals and business folks. The food was stellar and the presentation was at the top of its game. The noise level is quite high and the tables for two are very long making you have to kick up the conversation decibel level to compensate. Overall, this place will give Restaurant Eve and La Bergerie a run for their money in Old Town Alexandria.

Another Robert Wiedmaier success. Needs more sip friendly wines at the bar, but otherwise superb. Go now and you're likely to meet and talk to Chef robert himself as he kicks off the restaurant.

Brabo was open for less than a month when we visited, and they have some service issues to work through before the service lives up to the fabulous food. Perhaps it was the fact that we were a party of 6, which seemed to cause some confusion among the wait staff. They are certainly not in a hurry to turn tables, as they were very slow taking orders. The food was well worth the wait, though, and everyone was equally delighted with what they ordered - trout appetizers, frites, chicken, lamb, even the vegetable soup! We found the dessert waffles to be a fabulous ending, though it took all 6 of us to finish them. The wine list was something of a disappointment, with markups of close to 250 to 300% of retail on extremely young wines.

We were there with a big group, so it was festive, and wine was great. We were surprised by the corkage fee. The food was expensive for the quality. The lamb chops were raw and had to be sent back, and then tasted like rubber. The risotto was good. I would go back, not for dinner, just wine and cheese.

While the food was great and the ambiance elegant, my dining experience was rather lacking. The wait staff took away our water BEFORE our food even arrived without even asking us if we were done. They repeatedly tried to take our plates away while we were STILL eating!! Several of our orders were wrong. Maybe it's because they are still new and not busy enough, and they have kinks to work out with the wait staff, but three servers who were not even paying attention was overkill.

  • The Mussels gratin appetizer
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 3/4/2009
The Mussels gratin appetizer were exceptional! The mussels are shucked and presented in a delicate sweet & tangy tomato based gratin with gruyere cheese. The Filet was a substantial piece of meat, cooked to perfectly to order. Tim had the Ahi Tuna rare which looked generous as well. Both meals were portion perfect. Service was attentive and inobtrustive but I would rank it slightly less polished than at Restaurant Eve, but chaulk that up to new-ness. Chef Weidmaier visits with patrons which adds a sense of personal investment and care to each diner's experience. The wine list seems lacking in mid-priced selections. There are some exceptional boutique wines, but excellent wines priced in the moderate range would be a plus

Was encouraged to try it by the write up in the Post. Food and ambiance were lovely. Two problems. First seating was next to the door going into the hotel and the in and out traffic created both distractions and lots of cold air. The second was the time elapsed between the appetizer and the entree. It was about 45 min and far too long, for even a gentle trip through good eating! bkb
