Went to Brabo during Restaurant Week. While the food served was very good, I was disappointed with the selection. The Restaurant Week menu only had two selections for each course - not enough options. For the main course, if you didn't want to try skate, your only choice was hanger steak. If you order off the regular menu, be prepared to spend some money. The wine is very expensive too. Happy hour at the bar is a good deal, but it ends at 6:30.

I went to eat at Brabo's after having been to his flagship restaurant Marcel's and to Brasserie Beck. Of course, Marcel's was excellent, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Brabo's. I had the halibut and thought it was very, very good. The flavor was really surprising. Also had a chocolate dessert that was very good. For me, the only negative is the over-inflated wine prices. Other than that, I could not recommend it more highly.

But food was very sub par. The restaurant itself is nice and service was good, but it's the food you go for after all and it was pretentious without being able to walk the walk. Dessert was a joke. How can you list something as a coconut custard and then serve two squares of the size of postage stamp? The real chefs must have had the night off.

With food this good, one can forgive pretty much everything else. There are definitely drawbacks when you go to the "hotel restaurant". White tablecloth, but guests in tank tops and flip flops. Less than efficient valet parking, but thankfully there is valet parking, otherwise good luck searching for the more than 2-hour street parking in Old Town. But then again, we came for food and food we got, it was wonderful, creative and very satisfying!

Food tasted good but very heavy; I could see a pat of butter under my grouper, and the veggies were drowning in a massive amount of oil. While service was okay overall the waiter, who had a serious 'tude, rubbed us the wrong way. I asked for a glass of Pino Grigio and he basically turned his nose up at me, indicating Brabo was way too high end to serve that, and they had none on the menu. Mind you, we stayed at the Lorien which was has the same owner, was 20 feet away from where we dined and had just 10 minutes earlier served me a glass. The attitudinal waiter also suggested fine dining couldn't be done without massive amounts of butter and oil which is just ridiculous.

The food was wonderful - but the noise from the bar was too loud and the acoustics in the restaurant are awful. I could hear the woman sitting across the room from me better than I could hear my husband from across the table. Unfortunately this really did detract from the ambiance of our anniversary dinner.

We went on a Sunday evening, spur of the moment, and it was one of our best experiences at Brabo because it wasn't crowded like it usually is at night; we were able to have a conversation without raising our voices -- not always the case at Brabo. The service and food were excellent. They willingly split an appetizer and salad in the kitchen for us which we appreciated. Brabo is one of our favorite restaurants and we will definitely go back again.

Food was very good but pricey for what you get. The service left a lot to be desired given the prices. The waiter was very slow in taking our orders. He knocked over a lamp that was at the center of the table. His overall attitude suggested that he was made for better things than serving our table. He conveniently did not see my obvious efforts to flag him so he could bring a spoon to the table for my friend. He should have brought the spoon when he served my friend. He really detracted from the overall experience.

As usual the flavors, the aromas, the visuals and the service were all there. No wonder this place is my girlfriend's favorite! Lastly we need to give our special thanks to Hasan our favorite waiter, who always takes such good care of us! A true gentleman and a professional!

Stayed in Alexandria and wanted to try Chef Wiedmaier's restaurant since a week before we were at his other restaurant, Marcel, in Washington, DC. We had a wonderful dinner, and the service was great. Our waiter was friendly and always knew what we wanted. The crab cake in a corn veloute was delicious as was our main course which was the pork roulade. My husband had the fried sweetbreads which were also fantastic. The portions are on the large size (not complaining) so there was no room for dessert. I would definitely recommend this place for those who want a refined and upscale dining experience in Alexandria. We will absolutely be back!

Let down in the sense that we expected excellent and got just good. Entrees were delicious, as was everything else as well. We just thought that the restaurant overdid it a little bit - a beet salad literally had 4 tiny beet pieces in it. I'm not usually to comment on sizes of dishes, but this was just too hilarious to call it a salad.

Could not have been more pleased. The service and food were exceptional. Some in our party had a food allergy and the entire staff made sure it was addressed. The taste and flavors of all starters, entrees and desserts were all outstanding and matched the presentation (which, in many restaurants, is not the case). We were allowed ample time between courses to savor each and enjoy quiet conversation...not something you often find, even in so-called fine dining establishments. While not inexpensive, it is definitely a place to enjoy a special meal, as we shall be doing in future. Don't miss this experience.

Disappointed as a Weidmaier restaurant. His other spots are much better. If this restaurant was in DC, the quality of food would have been unacceptable for the price/environment. Wine list was impressive but overpriced for what they were serving. Service was good, but restaurant in general was disappointing. All of the food was not above mediocre. Probably could have made the dishes in my kitchen at home and have the same quality.

We had a business dinner... 5 ppl. Some of the dishes were thoroughly impressive... Agnolotti (sublime)... Halibut (perfection)... Some where meh... Lamb... Chicken... None were the kind of dishes you'd send back, but just the kind that didn't really inspire. For a 'Belgian' place we expected more beer choices and perhaps even a tap... The wine list was nice, but we were in the mood for beer. Service was sporadic. The waiter was great, when he was around, but they also screwed up two dishes which arrived late.. Not sure if it was a front of house or back of house disconnect, but it was awkward to have 4-of-5 dishes arrive in appetizer and entrée... We may have hit them on a slow/off night, so I would try again. Desserts were nice.

We started the evening in the tasting room, where the bartender made some excellent white wine selections. After several bottles, we adjourned to the main dinning room. We had a large party of 10 and were given a table in the back that gave us some privacy. Noise level was low enough that we did not have to shout. The menu selection we fantastic and prepared just right. Also excellent service.c

This was the first time my wife and I ate dinner at BRABO. We've traveled all over the world, eating at great places and we routinely eat at the top places in the Washington area. We were tremendously impressed by the service, the ambiance and the food...and, frankly, the very reasonable price. Our waiter couldn't have been better...and his associates that assisted were great well. We were received with a warm and sincere welcome and the same as we departed. We've put this on our "We'll be back list." Kudos to the chefs, the management and the staff...don't drop the ball! :O)
